Thanks again. I am just entering into the land of the rigid heddle and am pleased by your clear explanation of unbalanced weave. I would love to do a rag rug one day

Is thick weft, thin warp a thing? Would love to see some examples!

I am getting my first loom today. All I will have is my standard 7dpi for my first project. If I use a yarn that is too small for the 7dpi, will it come out looking like a burlap type weave, with air holes and lose? I have an 8/4 cotton that I would like to use for my first project… I did the 1 inch wrap method and the yarn told me I should use a 12dpi for a balanced weave. Will it eventually tighten up with washing? Or if I want a balanced weave should I wait until I can find a 12 dpi heddle?

Thanks so much for doing this. i want to make waffle weave rag rugs. I have rug warp and I’m cutting up thrift store sheets. I love the table runner. Did you wet finish the runner and the scarf?

You're welcome. I wet finished the scarf but the table runner I didn't bother to. I couldn't ever decide if I wanted to felt it or not so I only steamed it.

Would a 1/3 twill or a 3/1 twill also be considered unbalanced? So only 1 shaft is up, 3 down, or vice versa, or does that term only refer to heavy/light textures?
