I've been wanting to get into metal detecting for about a year now watching all these videos on KZbin.. I've been collecting coins for a year and a half and have over 50 American coins with silver from working a second job at a over night store and my question is if I get a detector and search for coins will there be a noise or icon on the screen to let you know if it's clad or actually have silver in it.. I live in a house that's almost 100 years old An house has been remodeled and it's nice An huge with a nice size yard.. the thing that makes me excited is that the first owner was a doctor an like I said it's a huge house so I don't know if his practice was here but I think it was an I bet their is a lot of old stuff and coins in my yard and I also live in NC on Roanoke island woo you know that's an old island because of the lost colony history

If you put the item in your palm when you show it to the camera the focus will pick up ;) Nice video, but it was frustrating that you couldn't properly see what you were talking about!
@seekeroftruth698 жыл бұрын
I collect all my change and turn it in for cash after a few months. but before I do I sort through it all and every time I pull out a handful of dimes, quarters, Nickels below 1965. are they that valuable of a find? I noticed in one video you mentioned you had a goal for how much silver you wanted to find in a year, is that just counting metal detecting? because I'll find 50 silvers in 6 months. that's just counting what I actually notice. a lot of the time change builds up in my car and i spend it on coffee without going through it
@Roller4down8 жыл бұрын
Nickels are not worth that much in circulated condition.. but the war nickels 42-45 have 35% silver.. Yeah even in 2017 you can find some good coins that are still in circulation.. Keep a eye out and once in a while you find a score! Thanks for watching.

So what is the story on that medal? Obviously, it's not currency, so I would lean towards novelty, but why?
@Roller4down8 жыл бұрын
This is the most information I have found on it. This medal was the first of five satirical medals designed by Robert W. Julian, who wrote the standard reference work on U.S. Mint medals. Julian’s political views are skewed to the right more than a little bit, had a great deal of fun poking his medallic stick at the Liberal establishment. In the process, he has enriched our political and medallic heritage. 1,340 medals were struck in bronze
@skarekr0w38 жыл бұрын
Was it just novelty? It's not an award, right? Sold or given away? I do think I have seen one before, but forgot about it. I just don't understand the why. It seems pointless. Publicity stunt? Have you ever seen the coins that are half the size of normal coins? Quarters, nickels dimes and pennies that are unrealistically small, but their real coins? It reminds me of those. Another pointless novelty. Cool, don't get me wrong, it's actually pretty sweet. But WhY?? =)
@Roller4down8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have a "Nixon Penny and Getting Smaller" in my collection, which is a cheap novelty item. But this medal came in its own display case and I am sure cost a lot to make. Maybe these were handed out to people who donated or spent a lot of volunteer time for what ever group. I am at a end point with only assumptions. If you find out more then that, let me know..
@skarekr0w38 жыл бұрын
Roller Jones Sure thing, it's the unusual stuff I am passionate about, but who isn't. I scored a mint uncirculated 1980 .50 cent piece last month.It's so clean, I have never seen a Kennedy 2 toned like that. The coin is shiny new, and the head is like a dull flat pewter color. It's extremely different, and I can't imagine they were all made that way. Most are usually dull and somewhat worn. It's not exceptionally old, but I HAD to save it.
@Roller4down8 жыл бұрын
Wow.. You got yourself a proof. Those are beautiful coins.. They might have made them in silver that year also that year. Not sure might have to look it up.
