Deeply foolish adult. Too lazy to walk dog so put's it at all sort of risks, injury from traffic, paws on abrasive tarmac, muzzle level air pollution... Compounds it by riding too fast for the kids following, not teaching them how to position themselves in traffic and how to make handsignals of their own. I'm sure it's everybody else's fault but someone in a police uniform could have a stern private word with that adult about their behaviour.

Agreed, putting the poor dog in the middle of the road facing oncoming traffic, most of who use the lines as a guide sometimes, should be immediately jailed in my mind, and that's before we even start on the kids following out of sight of their supposed carer/minder/Mother?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure every adult I see cycling with their kids let the kids ride in front. There is no point in screaming at a driver about how they should be more careful when her kids are killed.

The motorcycle that was knocked off should not have been overtaking when there are zigzag lines... There is a crosswalk there and those lines mean you do not overtake... If he'd have read the highway code he would have known this and would not have got himself into this accident... I'm surprised that the insurance company didn't use this fact to win the case...

The biker's zigzag overtake and the car driver's failure to look are separate offences, so the former does not mitigate the latter.

@@jdb47games It could be argued that the car driver had every right to move to the right as NOTHING should have been overtaking on the zigzag lines. The guy on the bike was massively at fault for his own accident as he should not have been overtaking in that zone.

@@scottsellars6468 nice idea, but like jbd said, one offence doesnt stop the other from still being an offence. The car had an un-obstructed view of the biker, but turned anyway. it's like pulling out infront of someone speeding, despite seeing them coming. yes, they were speeding, but you should still be able to judge their speed. Or crashing into someone going the wrong way down a 1-way street: you should still be able to see where you are going, and be able to stop in the distance you can see.

5:00 I am a keen cyclist and I also wish we had Dutch-style infrastructure in the UK - but we don't. This kind of thing is a common sight over in Holland, but our terrible road design means I'd never dream of attempting to ride like this with my family in the UK. At the very least she should ride behind her kids so she can keep an eye on where they are going...she must be crazy!

Mum out with her kids and the dog on a bike herself? Where did she leave her brain?!!!! Aside of it being WAY TOO BUSY for children of that age _just in case there is a problem of ANY sort_ the children should be IN FRONT OF HER for one so she can watch what they do and supervise with necessary words of advice where needed; and 2 *NEVER, EVER, EVER tie an animal to your cycle.* What if it sees a cat? Gets upset by a passing car's hooter?! And pulls you off !!!!!!?!?!?!?!?

Lister of Smeg: Just because you can filter between lanes of other vehicles the greater responsibility is on you to be aware of vehicles in those lanes of vehicles which are allowed to change lanes. You should also slow down to take a better view of what is happening in those lanes of vehicles. In this case you were effectively undertaking the Mercedes & in their blind spot, something you would understand if you were anything like a competent rider. Just because you can does not make it safe to do so. So before you comment on others driving, consider your own.

@privacee1845 I was going to mention that too, lots of fellow bikers I speak to do not know we are not allowed to filter on these zig zags, let alone overtake on them. I even mentioned this point to a fellow You Tuber after showing himself filtering over these at pedestrian and zebra crossings, he re-edited his footage afterwards.

That's not an adult with the dog it's an idiot. Pays no attention to the children riding their bikes, who follow her lead and cut across the path of the van at the right hand turn. Good job the van driver was paying attention as the "adult wasn't", if the van runs the kids over who gets the blame. That "adult" should be ashamed of themselves and their lack of road craft. Great example to the n zt generation of cyclists.

Probably had something to do with u-turning without checking for other vehicles, also at a crossing. White Dalton cover alot of things insurance companies deem to be 50-50 that end up being a fully at fault incident. Insurers will do their best to pay out as little as possible in any event.

The Asian dude looks like they had a real bee under their bonnet though racking up well over £100k in storage costs and legal fees seems a bit much to pursue an insurance claim for 7 years especially if they only got 12k out of it. A bit of defensive riding and not overtaking at a junction would have avoided this issue.

@@josephgittos3787 I'm not 100% sure on that, they can argue the storage costs are unreasonable and that there was no need to store the bike for the court case in the first place, it was the camer's decision to store the bike. It sounds like they where just extremely determined to get an apology, if he can afford to put a bike into storage for that long money was likely the secondary issue. Anyway the driver turned without indicating or checking their shoulder and the camer should not have over taken at the junction. Glad it worked out in the end, more so for his perseverance than anything else.

So does not know what they are doing was the correct quote, funniest thing though that going in two different directions whilst being towed! Good job Lister of Smeg stayed back. @2:50 I honestly cannot see the point in someone denying involvement in an accident or collision if they have insurance and are 'legal'. Insurance companies these days will pay out on genuine claims and everybody moves on with their lives. to be honest, in a case like this where there is pretty good evidence, his insurance company should simply pass on the cost of legal action and expenses encored in prolonging the case to the driver. If the driver loosed his house, he looses his house.

It’s interesting that motor cyclists seems to think that they have the right to weave between vehicles at random, at any speed, down either side or down the middle of two lanes and expect drivers to have anticipated their every move from behind them. I don’t seem to be able to find that privilege awarded to them in the Highway Code.

Changing lanes can be difficult for the car being towed. The towing car should have remained in their lane. That woman was a great example to her kids, with putting the dog at danger. What the hell is in the mind of that woman? If the dog pulled she would be on the road, and maybe under a passing car.

I never understand bike riders.. filtering is a luxury afforded to you.. it's not your own little lane.. it's just fortunate you can do it.. moan when vehicles want to swap lanes.. we're not told in the highway code anywhere to look out for filtering bikes.. yes always be observant.. but filtering is still a luxury and not a law given right..

Drivers tend to be the most self-righteous ones. They cause the vast majority of deaths and injuries on OUR roads and then have the cheek to call cyclists and motorcyclists entitled. They also break more traffic laws than anyone else.
