Cycling on a dual-carriageway is perfectly legal and safe, especially if there are two lanes in each direction. It's actually safer than cycling on a single carriageway road, as there's usually at least another lane in the same direction that drivers can use to pass.

It's drivers who can be dangerous. I would be cycling central in the lane there though, for better visibility.

@@widearchshark3981 the trick is to ride further out in the lane, ideally centrally in lane 1. If a truck begins to pass too closely, you then have space to your left to move out of the way. Volume of traffic is the reason I tend to avoid major trunk routes. For the same volume of traffic, I prefer a multi-lane dual-carriageway to a single-direction-lane single-carriageway.

The speed limit on that road is 60mph, and the reason others are going slow is because horsebox (obviously) and the vehicles in front where turning off the carriageway.

At 8:00 car in bus lane is stated to be in wrong lane, no it is not ,- it's a part time lane and judging from the shadow it is about noon and the lane is NOT in operation. Also it is a clearly delinated lane and so you can overtake on the left as indeed buses would frequently do.

It's Ireland, you can just make out the dashed line is yellow rather than white. Lane 1 is the hard shoulder and lane 2 the running lane, if someone catches you up you should move into lane 1 to let them pass then move back to lane 2 again.

Hello Dan the reason the start was left in was so that you can see we are queueing to get by a parked lorry. That car in question has not just come from behind me he has overtaken all the waiting cars behind me by driving along the opposing lane, he does not want to go straight on either but he's wanting to turn left. If everybody refused to budge for them, they would soon get the message that they are no more important than anybody else and they would stop being an inconvenience and danger to others. I always slow down and allow for errors of judgement on large roundabouts because they might be unfamiliar with the area, so that is the one time I allow people to change lanes and slip infront of me, but otherwise, not a chance.
