As an ex - hgv driver here is some advice to car drivers. 1. If possible stay clear of all hgv vehicles. 2. Never drive side by side, get past as fast as possible. 3. By very careful of foreign trucks with left hand drive, (see 2.) 4. Don't drive slower than most trucks. 5. Don't break check a truck. 6. If at the side of a truck, try and be visible in the trucks mirrors for him to see you. 7. Give trucks plenty of space. 8. Be very aware that the truck driver might not see you in his mirrors. 9. If possible overtake a truck in the over taking lane. 10. Only come back into the middle lane once you are in front of a truck.

No, there wasn't. Dash cams have wide angle lenses and so the truck looks much further away than it actually is. Imagine going over to France In a right hand drive car, getting into an accident and using the excuse "I couldn't see as well because I'm on the wrong side of the road" You'd simply be laughed at and told tough sh**. Why is it an acceptable excuse that someone driving a vehicle that big and dangerous, can't see properly, so keep out the way or you might be killed, and it'll be your fault 🤦
@bjthedjdutchdude1992
@bjthedjdutchdude1992 Жыл бұрын
@@MW54-jb9tb there is no excuse. In a car, you can see if someone walks out in front of you. In a lorry, pedestrians can be hidden under the windshield. And lorries need two lanes to make a turn. Imagine going on a dual lane roundabout in France with a right hand drive lorry. Whenever I see a UK vehicle in the Netherlands, I expect things to happen for example (driver being lost, them not seeing me overtaking on their passenger side).

Had you just cracked on, they could have slotted in behind no issues, no dangerous carriageway blockage at a damned busy junction! Behave yourself! The blue truck V van; had you just eased off and let the silly sausage through there would have been no collision, no several hours of paperwork, no long delays to you both, and no necessity for you to tell YOUR insurance you’ve had a collision! And Yes, You Do have to tell Your insurers too. If you haven’t, they might deny claims for years to come! They’ll have your money but when you try to claim… “Oh, it appears you didn’t tell us about that collision, despite it being a requirement. Claim denied!”

Coming off the roundabout, you saw the road narrow from two lanes to one. The van - of which you should have already been aware - was slighly ahead. The road layout - very common in England - was (badly) designed when traffic was a tenth of today's.However, this was still your cue to brake and avoid the collision, as you have been trained to do. Horns do not make good brakes. The behaviour on motorways is indescribably bad, and always has been. The M25 is a joke highway; dangerously inadequate and with far too many junctions (like all the other motorways). Drivers I know continue to talk of the 'fast lane' and are usually members of the Middle Lane Owners' Club. Aaargh!

Clip 1: As a professional driver, I am ALWAYS aware of vehicles at the side of me. there's enough mirrors on my blind side and I check them all the time so no one can "sneak up" into my blind spot.... In THIRTY FIVE YEARS of driving HGVs I've NEVER changed lanes and "pitted" a car Clip 2: that's just typical of cars/vans not wanting to be behind a HGV. I NEVER gesticulate because that could provoke a reaction (brake check) by the van driver. Just take a deep breath and carry on with your day. Clip 3: If you can avoid an incident then it's your duty to avoid it... BOTH drivers are complete BELL ENDS. Clip 4: ALWAYS consider hitting your brakes before your horn, people cut in and it's expected, by the way he closed up on the car he knew it was going to happen. be the bigger man and just let him go! the driver could EASILY have avoided and that accident made your day a whole lot worse than it may have already been. BOTH are BELL ENDS!! Clip 5: People who drive that dangerously need to be banned for 6 months at the very least. Clip 6: That's just unfortunate and goes to show that you need to inspect your equipment more often the older it is.

I don't think I could ever be a tow truck driver. The liability of the car rolling away, damaging the car and probably other cars and/or property scares me too much. People will say "Yeah, insurance will pay for that"... But people often don't consider that there are many things insurance won't pay for. If that was a classic car, the insurance will never cover the billions required to re-instate production of a decades old vehicle and change the law to temporarily allow the production of an outdated car (ie without airbags, seatbelts, etc). And that's assuming the manafacturer of the classic car has the ability, or desire... Or if damaged property was built berfore modern building regulations, they can never truly be restored to their original glory.

Was the guy at 3:00 nuts? Stopping someone merging by stopping in a lane like that? I was expecting him to be rear ended at speed. I hope he reported the issue to the police and I hope the police prosecuted HIM for his idiocracy. Absolutely insane driving.

2:25, both LGV drivers on M25 are as bad as each other. You a told miss your exit or take the wrong exit, divert till you get back onto your correct road. 3:38, Camer could see the van along side him on the roundabout and could have backed off and let the van in, as van driver had limited visibility to side and rear. But no I’m going to be stubborn and not let you in. 5:34, the ladies reckless driving, not only totally rocked her car, got herself trapped, but also totally ruined a lot of peoples lives, by her selfish, stupid actions.

The driver of the sedan is a proper knob. Blindspot + merging too close to a heavy vehicle(loaded/not). One is supposed to merge only after reaching a safe distance from the vehicle behind, a good measure is when you can see both headlights in the side mirrors. Plus it seemed like the driver of the sedan would brake check right after the merging or maybe he needed the insurance money(who knows).

As another ex truck driver it seems to me that the person in the car on the first clip was at fault NOT the foreign truck driver. He like many other car drivers pulled in to quickly, unless the truck had increased his speed which I doubt.

clip 3, the driver preventing the bad merge more than likely to be prosecuted as they are causing an obstruction. I know this junction well and there is still broken white lines prior to the merge which means still legal to change lanes. I bet the drivers blocking also been blocking the tanker from further back to create drama

About the first incident of the car being hit as the lorry pulled out, I think it should be illegal for lorry's to use overtaking lanes completely, unless in emergencies or overtaking very slow vehicles like tractors. Other than that, mostly lorry drivers pull out usually only doing worthless overtakes that get them hardly any further and cause accidents! The law should change!

Many of the same types will still not learn from their mistakes, should they be unlucky enough to experience anything bad as a result of their stupidity and carelessness. It's always someone else's fault, you see.

You see, the thing about Daryll Kirley's clip is that they made a conscious decision to contribute to an accident and then seemed to take no responsibility for it. Yeah, sound the horn as much as you want, but when you decide to defend what you see as your bit of road to the detriment of all around you then you're just another part of the problem. He could have avoided the accident if he wanted to, but chose to try to push on because of the old "I'm in the right!" mentality. If I was his boss I'd be bloody annoyed and debating his future as a driver at my company. If he posted this video thinking he'd get people feeling sorry for him then I reckon he's misread the room badly.

Clip 4.3"58 Light blue car in front of white van merges from right lane so presumably both lanes can can come off that roundabout into that lane? Cammer refuses to merge causing accident, even though, it appears to me, white van is in front of cammer and hasn't come from nowhere and overtaken him from way back. If I'd been driving white van I'd have stopped and tried to ask trucker, later, why he refused to merge but knowing that I'd get the finger and told to f*** off. Both partially to blame but more blame with trucker IMHO and assuming both lanes on roundabout can exit into that lane. I'd like to know outcome of insurance claim!
