We used Romabio Lime Wash and applied that to our red brick ranch. This was brushed on so it was less uniform compared to spraying it on. The color is Bianco White from Romabio's classico line.

This looks great! Hubs and I are getting ready to tackle this on our 4000SQFT home. We like big projects, this one seems totally doable! Any tips?

Hello, completely doable! It took us a few weekends mainly because the kids wanted to help and by brushing it on that allowed them to help. Also with brushing (vs spraying) allowed us to put it on less uniformly to give it a more worn look as Lime wash is meant to have that effect…vs look of a couple coats of paint. You can spray it off with a hose to mimic the European look, but we decided to leave all on and let the weather do the wearing off over next 10 years naturally. One tip is to make sure the brick is wet before applying the lime wash. If going to brush on, the big masonry brushes are the best. Use a smaller paint brush between the brick on the mortar joints. Buy more Lime wash then you need. We used bought ours from Lowe’s, brand name Romabio, color: Classico White. Hope this helps, good luck with your project!

I don’t have a full video up on the lime wash, but do have more content on it on Instagram under same named account. Hit me up there on DM if any more questions, glad to help!

To make it truly DIY, make your own limewash. I tried to purchase this from home depot and the container broke during delivery. Limewash can be made by mixing regular hydrated lime water and salt. Lime/water mixed at 20/80% and pay $20 instead of 300...😂

We are getting ready to do this to our home and I'm thrilled. My husband didn't like the idea of painting the brick but I don't like the brick, then I discovered lime washing. Do you remember how much product it took to complete?

Hello! That’s exciting! I think you’ll love it! I just looked back at our order from Home Depot, we bought qty 7 of Romabio Classico Limewash in Bianca White. We used it all. We only have brick on the front of the house, stucco on sides and back. You can make it go further by diluting it more or less. Depends on how much lime you want applied. We brushed it on. The kids wanted to help, so brushing worked well for us.

@@HomeImprovementMike I was more so speaking on seeing alot of people painting their homes white or newly built homes with white brick color. Red brick is going out of style.

I was quoted $1,900 for a house this size and only lime washing the front.

If you’re able to Do it yourself, it’s really not difficult. If any ladder work involved, that’s where the cost might make it worth it vs the risk of being on a ladder.

How long will the limewash last before you have to paint again?
@HomeImprovementMike Жыл бұрын
Romabio, the brand of Limewash we used says their product will last 20 to 30 yrs under normal weather conditions. Harsh weather such as near a beach with salt water or harsh snow conditions will shorten the lifespan, but you can reapply it as needed. Through the years, weather and the elements will age the look. You can slow down this process with Romabio Mineral Shield. Use this product to lock in the beauty of your original limewash paint. Good Luck!
