Another benefit of the S95B is that combined with some Samsung soundbar you can combine the TV speakers for the best sound. I combined S95B tv with q950b soundbar and it uses all the speakers.

Man I’m struggling with the s95b. My first one stopped working, second one was quite bent, and third one came so bent it was laughable. But I feel like I’ve had a string of bad luck, the reviews for the tv are so good. And they are still price matching my original price of $1400 which makes it hard to go with anything else…

I think the pictures on LG are more natural and real life like whereas on S95B, in true Samsung manners, are oversaturated. I also feel the details are more on the G2. Also one very important thing not covered here is that blacks on G2 is just next level, to the point that s95b blacks almost look grey. Do check it out.

the sales guy wanted me to buy G2 when I was already at the counter. He was trying to get me explain why the S95B. He was giving me the cons: It’s a first gen product, blooming, no DV support, etc. I just wanna pay and get the hell out of there. He actually was helpful but I am already informed buyer and I just wanna blow my money on a S95B. I was originally going for sony A95K but the price made it looked it so enticing for the samsung it was a better deal for me. It just needs to hold up for 2 years until my next upgrade hopefully

Quantum you are absolutely right. Watched this before deciding to upgraded from my cx10. I went for the G2. The motion handling blows away my cx10 and looks more 3d. Also i needed gsync and freesync. No doubt the samsung looks better but your analysis helped me decided what i needed, especially since im gaming on a pc with an Nvidia gpu

You weren't even comparing HDR modes. This was SDR video... There was also a huge gamma mismatch between the displays. The S95B was set to B1886 and the G2 set to a linear 2.2. Terrible comparison.

sdr is the universal standard for all digital media. Hdr is still in development and is wildly inconsistent. there is NO reference standard for hdr so comparisons are pointless. That combined with the log footage look hdr gives is why sdr is superior for comparisons, and why i default to comparisons like this. Now as far as gamma unless you've got superman vision, don't just hurl words out to sound smart. You cannot see everything on a recording of a tv. My settings transform these sets for maximum performance. The G2 has a black crush problem so 1886 isnt an option. Appreciate your enthusiasm but chill out and listen to the pro in front of you and learn something.

Great comparison. I took delivery of G2 77 " today and returned the S95B 65". Quantum- you are correct about reds color pop on S95B but I found it annoying especially watching football games with red color uniforms. It just looked too cartoony. Also, S95B buggy UI didn't do it for me along with motion artifacts so swapped it out for the G2 in larger size. As a Quant member, cant wait for your G2 settings upload. When do you plan to share?

Good comparison video. I needed a panel that was built like a tank, not built like a fragile art object. I chose the 55" G2 because I am mounting it to a roll-around monitor stand that will be running on one 4090/13900 PC, being shared by two different aluminum profile gaming cockpits. One for Flight sims and one for racing sims. I didn't want to worry about breaking the fragile panel of the Samsung. I have a 1080p Samsung that I have had to do electronic repairs three times in the last 15 years. I repair Diagnostic Imaging(MRI/CT) for a living, so repairs were done by me, at a total cost of $225. It's still running though. From all the comments I read about the G2, C2, C3, S90C, and S95B, I have come to the conclusion Samsung panels are fragile and prone to bending and electronic failure, while the LG seems to be more reliable, and better built than the Samsung. I concur that the Samsung seems to have better color, but that color doesn't always seem consistent with the true color we see in nature. It has more "pop" but seems at times cartoonish and less realistic. I can live with less "pop", but not less reliability and fragility for my use. I chose the G2 over the C2 and C3 because it was built stronger and was brighter. And I also chose it because the G2, C2, C3, and S90C(S95B isn't) are sold by Costco, and you can't ignore the free 5 year warranty they provide. I got my 55" a couple of weeks ago and it still had the OG firmware 1098 on it. Stupid me didn't disconnect the wifi so it auto updated to the latest firmware 1304. I was upset at first but honestly I'm fine with it as I wanted to use all of the TV's features which required it to have wifi so. I'm using this TV mostly for gaming and it's super bright still so no complaints at all.

I think most of scene that S95B is able to do better than LG because Samsung does not do aggressive highlight reduction and does exhibit much less colours cast than G2 produced. G2 produced too much colours cast in both bluish and cyanish and too aggressive highlight reduction especially on white pant. Only except the NFL S95B is struggling to do with green grass that comes up bit too brownish. Both TV are very good though anyway.

Great comparison but the question many people are asking and I haven't seen answered yet is what firmware version you are using on the S95B. If it is one of the most recent, which are said to nerf the nits and lower peak brightness, can we expect the G2 to now appear equal or brighter? I'm also curious how the S95B, with the current firmware patch, compares to the C2 as they are both equally priced in my region at the moment.

I'm surprised that actually prefer Samsungs color in many scenes. LG definitely flattens red tones, and seems to lose highlights. I've never like Samsungs skintones, and their greens can be odd, but generally I really like their calibration. The LG can get there but needs more work.

I had my sights on the samsung, however with all the bad reports on build quality, the panel is too thin, bent screens warped etc out of the box. Its ridiculous for the sake of an extra 2 or 3mm for a stronger back cover its bad design, Also firmware updates have been causing lots of issues with picture and brightness. 1800 euro for a flimsy tv, no. I think ill be going lg c2, its a pity about the Samsung, but to spend that kind if money for trouble, no. Heard about no issues with the lg c2. If you dont have thd 2 tvs side by sude which nobody will, you wont kniw the difference...

Hey what’s up quantum, I purchased the c2 it kept going to some kind of power off sleep mode turning the tv off after 20 min with all energy things and timer turned off, even after factory reset twice … Then I purchased the s95b 65 and it arrived defective also the anti glare rubbed off in a certain spot with just a faint touch .. scary .. along with Tizen software it changed as opposed to the old tizen . I’m using Apple TV 4K the one that came out a few weeks ago . So now Saturday BB is bring me a 65 G2 for the bedroom and I must say the s95b is a beast . But do the g2 have the secret menu like other Oled in the past ? I have a 77CX in the living room I’m upgrading next year, and Im using your bt 2020 secret menu on that one to bring out color . Can I do that with the G2 ? Let me know when you can and if so what you think I’d appreciate it

Whites are whiter on the Lg and brighter whereas the s95b has brighter colors. If you like color pop and inaccurate color exposure pick the Samsung if you like a more accurate color exposure pick the lg. it’s really what you prefer. But the g2 build quality is where the g2 absolutely destroys the s95b

Nice comparison, although to my eyes this makes a good argument for the G2. The extra brightness of the Samsung destroys fine detail in many of the examples. Take the scene at the end with the woman painting, the left and top of the painting is much more detailed on the G2. I'm all for bright, but not at the expense of detail.

That’s not how brightness works in HDR. In filmmaker mode, the PQ EOTF standard is followed so the content tells the TV what brightness to output. The filmmaker mode on the s95b is perfect in terms of brightness accuracy so the only thing higher peak brightness gives you is the ability to follow creative intent as you’re able to hit higher brightness that the content requests. If on the G2 content requests 1000 nits the G2 has to tonemap that down to its display capabilities

With, all due respect to the peak brightness levels on the S95b, the brighter it gets, the more details being washed out. You can clearly see nothing but bright, white luminosity rather than his actual trousers. Qd oled bagging about luminosity here luminosity there is rather pointless when a particular part in the screen literally disappearing due to brightness. The LG is a clear winner here.

Hi - thinking about getting the 65" S95B from Costco, but a bit concerned about getting a bent panel. Do you just lay a level on the panel to see if it's bent? Costco offers a 5 year warranty with it so I suppose I could just keep exchanging if necessary. And I don't understand the deal with the firmware ... shouldn't a newer version of firmware give better performance? and if not shouldn't you be able to reinstall an earlier version of the firmware? Sounds like you want the brightness and color saturation of the QD-OLED and the motion of the LG. You won’t agree, but get an A95K. QD-OLED with excellent motion in my opinion

From what I'm seeing, the dynamic range is better on the LG, it's less likely to overexpose parts of the content. & Thats a good thing when it can get bright enough without blowing out highlights

Checked out the LG c2 today in a 77 inch screen running normal digital input, wasn’t that impressed with the picture quality. The s95b looked great but was running a different input so wasn’t sure if the retailer was pushing the Samsung tv.. Still not sure what to get.. (they didn’t have the g2 in stock)

The G2 and C2 aren’t the same, it’s fairly well known that the G2’s on paper specs are a big step up. The G2 is almost like a turbocharged version where as the C2 is the naturally aspirated version.
