When my kids were young I would never leave our driveway until everyone bucked-up. A few years ago my daughter was in a car accident. Her car was flipped upside down with a full-size truck on top of her car. She was buckled-up hanging upside down. She unbuckled belt and crawled out of a window with only a few cuts and bruises. She said she always remembered to wear seatbelt because of what I taught her. Please buckle-up before you drive! Condolences to Marcus’ family and may he RIP. 🕊🌹

I'm watching this because I was in an accident last week and I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. Thankfully I saw the car in front of me soon enough to avoid serious injury but I do have a pretty good bump on my head from hitting the steering wheel. I have always been one of those people that hated wearing a seatbelt but I will never not wear one again. To the mother in this video (thought it was his girlfriend at first) I am so sorry for your loss and heartbreak. I hope you find some peace in helping others to use this as a lesson and to avoid another parents heartbreak.

Happens every day. I personally watched a guy do this in front of my home years ago. Adult too. Anyone can get caught in that moment. Likely we all have too. With all the connectivity in newer cars especially, the distractions are endless to the point driving is not the #1 concern. Education and people sharing these stories are the only real solution.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss,I feel truly bad for you. However I must say something, me too I always wear the seatbelt, always, also when I sit in the back seat. But long time ago(40 yrs ago),my friends father was in a horrible car accident where his car crashed with a big van and he was throwed out of the car(he was driving) seconds before the crash that compleately smashed the front of his car. The police said had he wear his seatbelt he had died in a second,the only reason why he survived was because he did NOT wear it and was thrown out through the car! He never ever wore a seatbelt after that and he also never was involved in car- accidents since that one time so there is no way to know weather it was good or not that he didn't use the belt through the rest of his life. So I just want to point out that there are occasions when wearing a belt had killed you. However I continue to wear mine,cause the chances that the belt saves you are a lot bigger than the chance that it will kill you.
@bdlimea70185 жыл бұрын
I know seatbelts most of the time will save lives but my cousin drowned because his car went off a bridge into the river, and he wasn't able to unbuckle the seat belt. He wasn't hurt at all, he simply drowned because of that. I still believe seatbelts save lives tho. Unfortunately it didn't save my cousin
@kither045 жыл бұрын
KJS1444 sorry for your cousin. I do agree with you. I worked EMS and I have seen both situations that the seat belt saved a life and a few instances not wearing saved their life. It all depends on the crash. More often then not they save lives.

Almost a year ago I was in a rollover. On November, 22. I was driving and my sister was my passenger. We were on our way to a house to clean for our job. I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and I was 16 weeks pregnant. I worry every time I’m driving something will happen again. I had hit a patch of black ice and swerved in the ditch causing my car to roll 2 times. I will never forget the worry I felt for almost taking my sisters life... I thank god everyday she was wearing her seatbelt. We are all okay, got out with only bruises.

My mom I luckily walked away with only injury’s but It could’ve been much worse like this video here. The right side of my face was completely blown out I had 49 stitches in my face, a serious head concussion. I was unable to use my right eye for a long time. Today i can use both eyes but my depth perception isn’t very good in my right eye till this day. Every day I wake up and look in the mirror put my make up on and see the scars on my face reminding me of that day I made a huge mistake.

God be with Heather and her family. I cannot imagine the horror. Back in the mid 80's Barbara Mandrell's seatbelt saved her life. The office where I work is literally one mile away and the commute takes about 2 1/2 minutes where I am going very slow in a residential area. Nevertheless I wear my seatbelt. An accident can happen ANYWHERE and at ANY speed!! But don't get me wrong - excess speed kills!!

The way the car looks that seatbelt probably wouldn’t have saved him. The amount of impact that gravity can cause can crush your insides. My best friend died due to blunt force. She had the seatbelt on but the force killed her.
@joevignolor4u9494 жыл бұрын
You have the right idea but you used the wrong word. Its not gravity. Its inertia. Even a small car like that traveling at just 40 MPH has a tremendous amount of kinetic energy stored in it and the car wants to keep traveling at that same speed due to its inertia. When it hits a solid object and comes to a sudden stop all that energy stored in its inertial mass is suddenly dissipated, which will smash the car and crush the occupants. That's why cars have friction brakes, which gradually dissipate the vehicle's forward momentum by converting all that kinetic energy into waste heat.

My heart breaks for this mother😥 I have 6 kids- they all know the car doesn't shift out of park, let alone pull out of our driveway, til they're all buckled. They're all very good about it. The one time I took them to the playground in our neighborhood at the end of our block, & I tried pulling out of the driveway without buckling myself, all my toddlers started reprimanding me! I pray they always stay this way. I'm nervous every time my 18 year old gets in the car with anybody else, but she tells me that she's always buckled & if the driver isn't, she'll ask them to, bc if they're in an accident, she'd prefer to not witness them being ejected & possibly dying- it usually makes them buckle pretty quick.
@julesmisty5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, as moms, we have zero control of our kids once they leave the house. Even the best kids make stupid choices. We can only teach them, explain to them, get them to promise that they will never do something they know is dangerous, but sometimes, they still do dumb things. Boys especially (not sexist, an observation) think wearing a seatbelt is less manly and as a group, make even worse decisions. My group of teenage friends were more males than females and they often, as a group, would not wear seatbelts. Research shows that we are more likely to survive an accident with a seatbelt on, but kids never think they will be in an accident. I just hope that none of your kids has a momentary lapse of common sense. The consequences are devastating.

Drivers and passengers must wear seatbelts when the car is moving AT ALL TIMES! This happened to Princess Diana. She did not wear a seatbelt. Not wearing a seatbelt, if you are still alive in the accident, results in a fine.
@danc11975 жыл бұрын
With all if the modern safety features on new cars they should make the car so it doesnt shift into gear unless all occupied seatbelts are fastened. It wouldn't be difficult to do since they put more effort into less relevant things.
@joevignolor4u9494 жыл бұрын
That was tried for a while. There was a federal law for two or three years that new cars wouldn't start or run unless the driver's seat belt was fastened. There was so much public outcry against it that the law was soon repealed. Plus a lot of people were shorting out the wires under the seat so the car would run without the seat belt being fastened. You can try to legislate away bad behavior, like making marijuana illegal, but for some people that just won't work.
