@@radiokicks that’s a huge space! Glad the hide helped. I’m sure you’re not painting the whole building at once.

@ not all at once. Oh hell no, but we will get our moneys worth. I feel like s long as we take care of our shit, itll last a lot longer

I just bought the same sprayer and started using it yesterday on some cabinets I built. But I wish I had stepped up a little more. This sprayer did great. And it made a nice finish. But I had to go get a Rac X guard and a fine finish tip. So my total cost with tax was close to $700. If you have an account at Sherwin Williams you can get the 390 for just a little more. And that machine is a Cadillac. It has a nicer gun and an easy access filter in the pump and a stronger motor to be able to spray everything. Many paints require a tip with an orifice greater than a .017 which is the max of the Prox17. Sonde places were close for the holidays I just went ahead with the Prox17. It is a nice machine with a good finish on my fine woodworking. But it's not a commercial machine like the 390.

@@darrellgibson you have some good points there Darrell. That 390 would be sweet to have for sure! Found this one on sale for $530 so I got it. Thought that was a great price for what you’re getting. I spray about 1 day a month so this should last a long time.
@darrellgibson18 күн бұрын
@diywithcontractorken.6124 yes it should last a long time. And with replaceable parts even longer. I guess a lot depends on what you spray too. I only shoot new cabinets I've made. And that only a few times a year. I found yesterday that the prox17 was a bit on consistant with the spray pattern when the pump would start and stop. If youre shooting walls or ceilings no one will ever know. If you're shooting glossy mateiral on super smooth wood it can show. You can always hit it with another light pass though. Since I only do sprayed paint on new cabinets I may sell my Prox17 and step up to a 390 or 395. Bit if I primarily shot walls and the occasional cabinet the Prox17 is really not an awful machine.
@diywithcontractorken.612418 күн бұрын
@ Yea I’m mostly a drywall and painting guy so usually just wall painting. I love that the prox17 is made to easily replace the pump so if it ever does crap out on me I can just replace the pump instead of buying a whole new sprayer .

I 100% agree. I bought a Campbell soup paint sprayer and it lasted four houses and failed on the fifth after 27 years. No seriously I got my moneys worth out of that one. I think it was $250 back in 1997. Now you can’t get parts for it. I guess I’ll be buying this $600 Lowery’s model. Looks pretty good. Thank you.
@diywithcontractorken.6124Ай бұрын
@@USA-GreedyMenOfNoIntegrity yeah I think anything less than this is just basically gonna be a kids toy. I don’t trust it. It won’t last but I trust this one. The motor is much bigger. Its powerful heavy duty parts stainless steel parts should last much longer and I didn’t have to spend that much more.

Raw drywall you really need to make sure it's dusted well and backroll your coats. Will provide a much much smoother and better looking finish. 30 years in the business and I've never not backrolled at least the primer coat.
@diywithcontractorken.61244 ай бұрын
@@johnloos828 Yes that’s true. I would just give a quick brush off and spray and back roll. Not spending all day brushing off dust.

Would this sprayer work for painting an existing room in a house? Obviously plastic would need to be put up, etc, but how's the overspray? Great video BTW!
@diywithcontractorken.61244 ай бұрын
@@daveinnc874 thanks for watching! Yes it would work fine for an existing room. You would need to mask everything.
