Super cute. Im born physically handicappede with deform hip bone and so on, I dont think its anything to be offended about, if you called the Gecko deform, because its just a description of something that isnt anything to be a shame of, Im proud having left the wheelchair, even though Ill always have deformed bones Ill always be in pain.

I’ve been disabled since birth & over 35 surgery’s later & at the age of 50 I adapt to different situation & forcefully make it work & yes sometimes I feel that I can’t go on but I push myself every day to do so , so I say forcefully abled & non addictive & non narcotic medication helps to ease the pain daily along with a high pain tolerance & pure determination & desire to go on . I was told that by the time I was 50 I’d be in a wheelchair & I,m still on my own two feet , yes with the assistance of a cane but none the less walking on my own two feet .

I've been disabled since birth and personally cannot stand people calling me differently abled. But I have no problem with other people preferring it! It really it such a personal journey. I think for me I've found that using differently abled has always been pushed onto me by able bodied people ("you're not disabled, you're differently abled!") And so it's always frustrated me because of that. Also there are some things that I can't do because of my disability and I'm okay with that! I always just try to use the language the person in talking to prefers for themself as it isn't my choice to make how they define themselves. 😊

I can't speak for everyone, but as someone who is disabled, saying a limb or other part of the body is disfigured isn't offensive as it is just saying it as it is. Especially when you're just describing the disability and being respectful about it. It's when it is said with condescending and malice intentions that it is a problem. So please don't worry too much about the words you use as you're not saying it to be disrespectful. ♥️ Also, Rio is adorable! It's nice that the people also sent the medicine and some food with Rio.

Omg Rio is so precious!! I don't think you need to worry about saying "disfigured" - from what I know of the disability community, direct language is preferred (i.e. "disabled" is MUCH better than "differently abled" type language). You're so sweet Jess & I can't wait to see more updates on all your lovely scaly friends!

Yes, a lot of us prefer the direct language. 🙂 avoiding it makes it seem as of being disabled is a bad thing when it's not.

I agree with this so much! I've been disabled since birth and personally can't stand being called differently abled. There are things that my disability stops me from from doing, even differently. I feel like it belittles my disability in a way and tends to be (mostly!!) pushed onto disabled people by able bodied people. However I know there are some people in the community who do prefer differently abled and that's fine too! It's such a personal journey. Also some disabled people do prefer saying they have a disability rather than that they are disabled, as their disability doesn't define them. Personally I just prefer the direct language of I'm disabled but it does vary!

WHAT is it with crested geckos?!? I get all sorts of weepy when looking at my two cresties faces, too!!! Like I never have done with any other pet. I call them my "puppy dragons" with "elf toes." Love them so much!

Ask your vet if it is safe to put Vasoline on the stuck shed and after it has softened the shed for a while take a tooth brush and brush of the softened dead skin.

Hi, Jessica I would like to get a leopard gecko, but I wasn't sure which morphs to stay away from. I know you mentioned Y&W before are there any other ones to look out for?

Hopefully you can answer this as I’m worried. My leopard gecko runs AT me. I’ve had him nearly a year now and he never used to do this but in the last 3 months whenever I open his glass to change his water he will come out his hide and come running full speed towards me. He some times does it just when I stand by the tank but mainly when i open it. It can’t be because he’s scared because he would run away not come out his hide to run towards me. I’m too nervous to hold him now incase he runs out my hands. He doesn’t bite me when he runs at me he just runs towards me

Rio is absolutely adorable!!! Your rescues aren't "disabled." They're all "differently abled!" 😉 You could've named him Ali; since he has a fist for a foot!😆😆 I wonder if waving his fist is a natural behavior. If it is, maybe you can train him to wave anytime you open/close his cage; only with his favorite treats that he wouldn't normally get everyday. Anyways, he's a cutie and it was nice to see you too!!!
