Why do I need to buy another guitar? I really don't know... You can tell me! So I bought this Squier Custom Esquire 60's vibe from Sweetwater (Purchased it online without playing it!). At Sweetwater site, I could choose one from 4 same guitars with photos & guitar's weight! (This guitar was 7lbs 1oz) So cool! Plus it was $50 off that week! I was so lucky! What do you think about this guitar?

@@TomoFujitaMusic The big problem with Squiers is that they're so cheap you could end up with a house full in no time! I had to stop buying them and sold them all because I'm OCD with stuff like that. I had the Squier 50's Esquire too in cream but I just sold it this week. I won't sell the LPB model though as it's totally stunning. There was a Green and Tangerine FSR Tele too last year. I'd love the sparkle green, but it's rare and expensive. I just have to get Squiers off my mind as I'd buy more but in all honesty they are not as good as Fender Mexican made instruments, the thin necks irritate me which hints that they're made for beginners which they are because of the budget price point. I love thick necks. But If you put a Fender Vintera neck on one you'd have a very cool guitar.

You gotta love how guitar makers find a way to charge more for their guitar with one less pickup. You could buy the two pickup version, a blank pick guard, soldering iron, and solder cheaper than this to give you many more options.

I bought mine in December. It was the lightest tele in the shop. The most touch sensitive guitar I've owned. I'm using a 1.60 Brain pick, and playing lighter, with the ability to go from loud and distorted to super clean just with pick attack. I also use the volume and tone control a lot more. The mud circuit works as a faux-fuzz with ts9 and bd2 engaged.

I bought a 60’s Custom Vibe on Black Friday Sale. (Not Sweewater, who are always great) Great price but mine was unplayable out of the box. New compensated brass barrel saddles, a new 3-way switch and some set up helped a lot but the nut is poorly cut and the fret work is bad. Needs leveling and polishing. But for a little over $200 I had to try it. Good for learning slide on.

This was a cool unboxing Tomo, and a nice Squier. You must have a very big collection of guitars and lots of storage space! Do you have a preference of D'Addario string gauge or does it depend on which guitar you are using? Thanks for sharing your great insights as usual - it's very informative.

I think there are a lot of tests you can run to compare these contemporary guitars to some of the older ones in your collection. For instance your Duosonic and 335 are really great sounding guitars and I think a lot of that is due to playability, tuning stability, pickups and amp settings. I would like to see if you can tweak some of these "off the rack" factory guitars to get them to sound close to your treasured vintage ones. Show us what setup, string gauge, and amp settings could be tweaked to in order to get close to those creamy good vintage tones. I'm still kind of partial to having 2 pickups. There seems to be a lot of variation you can get just by switching bridge to neck pickups. So I'm a little skeptical that these single pickup single-coils can give me enough versatility. Maybe you can do a "Squier shootout", too, with the different guitar string gauges and show us how you change the controls to get a different sound with just one pickup and which ones respond better to the controls. Also, when you switch to heavier strings, how long do you wait for the neck to settle in before adjusting the truss rod to straighten out the bow that is likely to occur with higher tension strings? Thanks again. New Guitar Day is always a lot of fun!

had exactly the same guitar, unfortunately I had to sell it to pay the bills, i really liked the slim neck, the feeling aswell as the looks. Although the "bridge" position sounded quite harsh, if you you rolled back volume a little bit you could get really nice sounds out of it, while the "neck" position pairs well with heavy distortion settings in my opinion :) Enjoyed your video, I wish you much fun with this guitar!

Some Esquire players... Apparently, Springsteen's, which has a neck pup, is an Esquire neck and Tele body. But there's some interesting history. Luther Perkins (I Walk the Line and after with Johnny Cash). B.B. King, before Lucille. Jeff Beck in the Yardbirds. Steve Cropper (Green Onion and Dock of the Bay with Otis Redding). Even Paul on Helter Skelter and IIRC Good Day, Sunshine (but check it). Syd Barrett (early Pink Floyd), Brian May (I forget which song), and Billy Gibbons. I don't know their music that well,, sorry. And Joe Strummer. Probably more. Almost everyone agrees that the simplicity focuses the player, often forcing them to rely on their fingers and attention instead of gear. Lots of guys did A/B tests adding and removing a neck pup on Teles and Esquires without much agreement. Definitely worth trying at this price point. I've bought a lot of guitars from Sweetwater and this had the best setup. I wonder if that has anything to do with no neck pup.

@@TomoFujitaMusic You're welcome. Thanks for pointing me in a new direction. I love the guitar. Does your forward switch position result in a large volume drop compared to the middle and rear. I was prepared for the treble cut from your other video - and you can replace it with the amp or pedal - but the volume difference surprised me. I only played it for 90 minutes, so maybe there's a sweet spot that reduces the difference so you can adjust the rest with the volume knob. I plan on looking for it anyway. Still a great guitar. Really fun. Simplicity matters. Thanks so much.

Do you ever hate yourself for having to peddle sponsored crap shamelessly you know isnt very good, but you have to pretend youre more excited about it then you actually are?

@@TomoFujitaMusic I dont believe that any of these youtube guitar guys who show new guitars every week can afford all of these. They must be sponsored, or they chronically abuse the return policy from where they buy them lol.

@@guitarandotherthings6090 I can show you my recipes! I bought this blue Esquire from Chicago Music Exchange & this Black one I bought it from Sweetwater. I don't show new guitar every week. You mixed up with other people! I love these Esquires!
