My grandmother had one of those. My mother still uses the extension wands and floor tool, which I adapted for use with her other cleaner.

We had one exactly like this, apart from its colour, and we bought it second hand, circa 1960. My brother inherited it and it's still going strong.

A golden oldie from Hoover. Although those who only had this to clean their carpets with I shudder to think.

Very nice. This cleaner was manufactured in January 1978. The motors fan needs cleaning, that’s what is causing the vibration. The bearings are a little dry but they’re not too bad. 🙂

I love it when you do a review/unboxing/demo. Of Miele vacuums and Sebo and Numatic.

If I remember right, compact canister front wheel will fit on this. It's very common that front wheel is missing on these 427 models. Is there a hole in the cloth bag or why the filter is so dirty?

I have a confession. I’ve never converted the shakeout bag in my Kirby to use paper bags. When my father had his dry cleaning business he’d clean it a few times a year the day before he was having his dry cleaning fluids changed. Presently I wash it with a mild detergent twice per year. I always start it and run it outside for a minute after a shakeout. Both of my Mighty Mites have cloth bags which I wash a few times per year also. The cloth bag also significantly increases the Mighty Mite’s ability to work very well with a turbo nozzle better than even the synthetic fleece bags available. I have Hepa Filters on the exhausts of both Mighty Mites and change both every nine months. Dust emissions haven’t been a problem and since I empty the bags well before needed I shake the bags out, outside as my last chore before hitting the shower. I have an Electrolux Silverado that uses paper filter bags and I now use the synthetic (diaper) bags and my Electrolux UltraSilencer and both are affordable to run but if there was a bagless that performed without the compromises that cyclonic bagless machines comprise I’d have them. Recently I purchased bags for my Miele canister and my Oreck XL. I purchased nothing else for myself until my next paycheck.

I remember an Electrolux commercial cleaner that had a floor tool like that

Hi what sort of felt/fabric might you use for replacing the filter please? And also how do you remove the motor as I can't get the end off mine :(

Co-Op sold vacuums? I'm 19 years old so I had no idea.
@ibaisaic5 жыл бұрын
CoOp had department stores that sold all sorts of things and I have seen vacuum cleaners in smaller local CoOp branches only a few years ago.

I remember our local coop selling these, would they have been around £30? Great little cleaner👍👍
@ibaisaic5 жыл бұрын
I can’t remember how much they were back then, but they were certainly at the budget end of the price scale.

Certainly more solid than today’s budget cleaners! Another great video as always thanks! 🤓

Would a TriStar bag or similar fit this machine in a pinch?
@ibaisaic5 жыл бұрын
Probably, but I can still get the correct sized bags made for this cleaner and they are cheaper.

Hi Roger.. Are you please able to move the picture of the vacuums to the far bottom corner I find. It cuts off someof the screen and is a little distracting.. Love you vids and have been watching for years

If you have been watching for years, you must be used to that logo as it has been on my channel from the start.

The front wheel is not supposed to be there. Looks like someone needed an upgrade beacuse of lots of hard flooring at home...

I believe it should be there as I have seen the exact part on other similar Hoover machines. Also it has been riveted in position, whereas regular modifications tend to be screwed in.

Would you know if it the 27th week of the year or was it made on the 27th of August?
@stevejones19725 жыл бұрын
Its actually made in 1978. The date code is on the serial number 0427801......., The first 4 digits are the model code of 0427, and then you have the 3 digit date code, which is 801, where 8 is the year, and 01 is the month, so on this machine, meaning month 01 - January, of year 1978. On pre 1997 UK Hoover models, you didnt get the decade on the serial number you had to guess it, but as the Hoover 427 was not made in 1968 or 1988, then the decade has to be the 70s.
