Thanks for sharing Danny they truly are amazing orchids, I’ve got a few in my greenhouse, but I’ve found they can be very finicky and like you said never let them dry out. Happy growing and stay safe.

I am happy, to announce that, I am now a member!! I've been following your channel for quite a while. Long enough to save a very important rootless mini phal(happy to report Deloris has 3 beautiful roots and 2 new leaves), and to purchase a multitude of easy growing suggested orchids. Thank you for bringing back my love for Orchids and plants. It has really brought my mother-in-law and I together as well. Thanks again for all that you do.

Dani- time for an orchid haul Me, seeing the 6 bottle scotch box- ah, yes, a good haul for quarantine. Congrats on the new orchids, hope you do well with them! In regards to the issues with Orchid Garden, yes, I have had the same thing happen to me, so I've yet to buy again from them, for now, at least.

I just got a Dendrochilum Wenzelii as well! I was wondering why you didn't have Dendrochilum care videos, now I know. As soon as I got it I rushed to your channel to hear your thoughts on care, repotting, watering etc. Pretty much what I do every time I get a new variety of orchid lol. Hope yours does well!

I always enjoy your videos and today was no exception! I’m so impressed that you’re trying “cold” growers in Cyprus no less!! I have tried just once and I failed miserably. I live in Toronto and our summers are quite warm (28 C today!) although our winters are certainly cold. The oncidium is exciting!! I look forward to your next video on these orchids.

Hi Danny, about those draculas, couldn't you get one of those drink fridges with glas doors that restaurants and shops have and put a humidifier inside? I've seen them for sale some times when the shops buy new ones or close and thought they might work
@savvassimitsis90904 жыл бұрын
They are very healthy and rubust, good luck growing them in Cyprus. I think that buying a terrarium will be a very good investment for plants like these.
@ashleygrable4 жыл бұрын
I'll be curious to see your setup for the Dracula. The humidity demands of those orchids is no joke. Will you use a humidifier, a misting machine, or a terrarium? I have been too afraid to try them until I master Masdevallias. :-)

Was actually thinking of purchasing from orchid garden. I'm so glad I saw this before I did! 😬
@gemmacook17534 жыл бұрын
Unluckily I didn't, order two phalaenopsis hybrids named purple martin and bellina and they were supposed to be blooming very soon, yeah don't think so, the bellina is not far past seedling and the purple martin is older but I had to cut off over half the roots because it turned up in moss that was dripping wet and packed so tight that most of its roots in the centre died and I had to cut them off which has set it back, even if that hadn't happened it is still at least a year from being able to produce a spike. Its disappointing considering they had so many orchids on there, but i lost all confidence in them when I get an orchid that is in poor condition, there aren't many orchid nurseries in the UK so finding one was tough, I do have a backup that I will use next time, hopefully they look after their orchids better

I had a wenzelii last year with the same guidance about how easy they were to grow. It never thrives in my care. Has been the only healthy orchid I’ve had that just withered away rather quickly. Out growing conditions are similar to yours so I look forward to seeing how you do with this one. Maybe I’ll get some pointers to make it worth trying again!

I didn't have the best experience with orchid garden either. 1) I specifically typed in UK into my search bar but their site came up, everything was in my currency so I thought it was based in the UK. Imagine my surprise when I ordered and my address that I had put in had poland underneath it, had to redo my order, but I wasn't impressed that their website is in English and UK currency but all correspondence from them was in Polish, but its not said anywhere they are based in Poland until you go to the return page 2) The orchids I picked specifically had the label on them that said they were ready to bloom, well when I unwrapped them they were in fact only just out of seedling stage and I have a good two years before they are ready. 3) The condition of the orchids was awful, one was in moss and it was dripping wet, not to mention in that one time use plastic pot, (they need to stop being made) i took it out of its pot and i could have cried, all the roots that had grown in the middle of the stem were mushy and dead, they were so wet the velamin just slid off, this was a purple martin and it could have had so many established roots but no, i had to cut ten of them off which meant it only had the roots that were around the sides of the plant pot, luckily it did have some new growths but its such a shame, I think it might be set back a bit but so far its hydrating ok and its new leaf is still growing. The second orchid is a bellina and it was the smallest of the two and is definitely just past seedling stage, this one was in far better condition, although the roots on the surface are shrivelled but they are still alive, they turn green when water is poured onto them but they don't plump up and dry out very fast. But it still had roots i had to cut away and strangely this one turned up in bark, and a tiny hard plastic pot. Neither are ready to bloom or even have a flower spike yet, i am just hoping I can keep them alive. Is there any advice about how to rear younger orchids? Do I need to fertilise them with a weaker dose? And do I need to fertilise them more or less than mature phalaenopsis? Sorry for the essay, lol. I have one final question which is, when I recieved the purple martin it had four new roots growing, I've had them for about 3 weeks now and I noticed that at least two of the roots just stopped growing, they are still very small in length so I don't understand why it just stopped, is there a reason they do this? The other two still have root tips but they are a lot smaller than before and im worried they too will stop growing. Have I damaged them somehow? any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Hi, can I ask a question here? I just purchased 2 phalaenopsis seedlings, I mounted them to some barks and put them under my LED light. Is it OK for them to receive the light from my LED so soon without their new roots appear? Thanks.

Just going to warn you, it doesn't really get very hot in BC where bred is, summer temps there are normally in the mid 20s, rarely does it go above 30. You may have to do some extra work to get the cool growers through the kind of dry heat you get in Cypress

Orchid Garden...again😞 I was very disappointed with my order and sellers response
@gemmacook17534 жыл бұрын
Me too, I told them just how bad a condition my orchids were in, I wrote a lengthy essay detailing the problems like packing a phal into moss so compacted and dropping wet i had to cut off almost all the roots.. and they lied about the stage of the plant, ready to bloom i think not. Their response, send picture. So I unpotted both of them and sent pictures of their condition as well as the bag of moss and dead roots. I get a response from them saying it was my fault because I cut the roots off.. the already dead, mushy brown roots.. yeah. She then said I could send them back to Poland.. i live in the UK, but they weren't going to refund me, they wanted me to send them back at my own expense and then wait for them to send me more orchids.. i left it, I hope mine survive and thrive but with everyone saying the same thing, I don't think they will
