hi Tariq, thank you for the video. I believe these guys are the future of photography. I also believe that the company should be encouraged to create a B&W line for black and white photography. I will check your other videos as well. I am looking forward to the next Hasselblad product. thank you again.

Hi Arif, You’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, I think Hasselblad is the future of photography. When digital began growing in professional photography, Hasselblad didn’t simply follow the other brands. They lead with their vision. The differences between RAW and Hasselblad’s 3FR (their version of RAW), the bit depth (more bits offering more detail), the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution, HNCS, Hasselblad was building on their legacy into the future. With this, I think their B&W works pretty well. If you watch my video on the Lincoln Memorial, I show some images from the 907X taken in colour, that I then transition to the B&W of the same image. There were no other edits in the pictures in that video, other than the colour to black and white. White balancing and metering were done carefully before I took the pictures in Hasselblad 3FR (RAW for the uninitiated). This monument is a good subject in B&W, my preference for this shoot. From past experience I knew B&W shoots well at the Lincoln Memorial. I planned the photoshoot in colour, and only while making the video did I try turning it to B&W just by pressing one button on the Phocus 2 software on my iPad. I liked the results and so put both in the video. Yes the large sensor is great, but the other things I mentioned made the B&W change simple, and in high quality. This would be more work in post editing with other systems. Having said that I would always be interested in a purpose built B&W system. That would be fun! I’m very happy with what I saw in the B&W so far. Hasselblad had an old ad decades ago that said something to the effect of “Get it right the first time.” They did with the 907X.

Thanks James! That’s the plan. Once I get used to the CFVII 50C back on the 907X with the 45P, I’ll try the back on the 503CW. It is a large sensor on the back, but still not the same size as 6x6 (56mmX56mm). Still that should be fun! We’ll look forward to it. I did get an update acute matte screen that will show the outline of the 4:3 aspect ration (645 horizontal) of the digital back. That should help composing. Thanks for the comment, James.

@@TariqsRock how are you liking the grip handle attachment? I am debating getting one.
@TariqsRock
@TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
Alex Shebanow, I like the grip handle a lot. It attached easily to the bottom of the 907X, with thin, metal screw, and is light weight. The connection feels solid from the grip attachment to the camera with digital back and lens attached. The battery is where the weight is. On the control grip the front control ring is easy to spin and I like the quick adjustments it allows in Aperture Priority which is my preferred shooting mode. The little ring on the back of it makes small adjustments to exposure). The little joystick is nice for navigating and would be familiar to other such joysticks on DSLRs - plus you can press the joystick straight down to make a selection. Joystick moves up, down, right, and left. I also like the AF/MF button on the control grip, making it easy to switch between the two modes. In MF, as the lens focus screen is rotated, the live view screen “highlights” light around the subject in focus and allows subtle adjustments; this part is from the camera system, not the control grip per se, but the control grip provides a good at fingertips accessibility to switching between AF and MF. I had a great experience with the Winder CW for the Hasselblad 503CW. This control grip does more. Physically it is different than the Winder CW (different 500 system) obviously. Another nice thing with the control grip for the Hasselblad 907X is you can open the digital back door to access the battery and memory cards with the control grip in place. The door opens and makes light contact with the upper part of the grip but it’s designed that way it seems. The grip feels well attached that I can grip the camera solely by the grip and let my arm hang loose by my side and feel confident it is attached. Adding the Really Right Stuff plate to the bottom of the grip (screws in with hex screw) further enhances the control grip experience because I can set the camera down on the table and it won’t tip over. Solid base bonus, and a quick arca type attachment to tripod heads. I get more uses out of this control grip than I imagined and glad I got it up front. The form factor with the grip is slightly larger than this tiny Hasselblad. I’m laughing writing the last sentence because it is still small. And mighty! I think you could find some good uses for the control grip also. Let me know if you get it.

Thanks, James! I wish you the joy and adventure ahead in a couple of months. I enjoyed making the unboxing video and continuing to message about it. If you’re interested in any of the accessories I used, they are listed in the description. The Really Right Stuff plate became very useful to mount the camera on (works as a little platform when balanced correctly with the lens, even when not on a tripod). I don’t have any affiliate links yet, and may get around to that in the future sometime, but the details are in the description. The Jeep was in the background of my first few pictures with the 907X. Your adventures with the Jeep sound fun with the old buildings. Coincidently, for my next video I was looking at an old wooden shack. Let me know if you have any questions. All the Best! Hi and thanks for the video. I have had mine for one day and can’t wait to try it out but I really wanted to watch you unbox your’s before I unboxed mine! One question, which RRS plate did you purchase? Looks perfect for use with the grip. Thanks again.

@TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Elizabeth! I just saw your comment, and don’t know how I missed it for a week. Congratulations on getting your 907X! The RRS plate is the Really Right Stuff BP-CS Multi-Camera Conventional Plate (LxWxH 2.8”x1.6”x0.4”/70mm X 40.6mm X 10.2mm). The details of this and other accessories in the unboxing video are in the description. So if you’re curious in the future of what other accessories in the video, you should be able to find them there. That’s where I went to get the details above. The RRS plate works well and I keep it under the camera all the time. You have to position it forward or backward to the body depending on the weight of the lens to counter the weight of the digital back (where the battery is the heaviest part). You might find some interest in the Control Grip video also. Congratulations on your system, Elizabeth! Thanks for your patience with the reply.

Hi great review there! Just two questions: 1) Can you remove the OVF and use the mount / stand as a cold shoe to mount flash triggers with the sync cable connected to the bottom of the CFV II? 2) Do you have the link to the exact RRS plate model that fits so snugly onto the bottom of the control group and making it so balanced? Thank You!
@TariqsRock
@TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Oliver! Thanks for the interest and your thoughtful questions. My answers and thoughts are below: 1) You should not use the space where the OVF mounts as a stand /cold shoe mount area to mount a trigger or sync cable connected to the bottom of the CFV II 50C back. The mount area is only suitable for the OVF, or the branded Hasselblad logo plate when the OVF is not in place. The camera body is so thin, the width of a small pinky finger, there’s not enough room for a cold shoe anyway. Flash mounting is a challenge with the 907X body. I created another video where I used a different multi-purpose plate from Really Right Stuff to create a rig. It’s okay for now but not as good a custom mount. I reached out to Really Right Stuff to try to get them to make one but I didn’t hear back from them. Maybe I’ll try again. 2) The RRS plate model is linked below. I’ve been very happy with this little accessory. The screw mounts below can be adjusted forward and back to find the balance with the XCD 45P lens. It seems the plate could be adjusted to balance other lenses with the digital back. I like being able to set the camera down on the plate on a table and have it stand securely. The other bonus is it connects as a quick release plate easily to the RRS ball head I use. It’s not custom made for this system but for me this plate is always connected to the camera and feels natural. From the Hassy / jeep photos it seems the camera narrowed the field of view for the closer focus distance shot to correct for distortion?
@TariqsRock
@TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
Good observation! Yes, for closer subjects the field of view is dynamically adjusted which seems to optimize the image. Since making this video I have watched the edges of the live view screen while changing focus from a close subject to a far subject using the 45P lens. The change of field of view - or crop digitally - is visible, It is a subtle change, and maintains the perspective of the lens. If I had not taken those first two pictures the way I did in this video and viewed them on my iPad Pro later, I might have not noticed the system was doing that. So far I have liked how it does that. I prefer this adjustment as a helper while I can keep trying to compose my image. On other camera systems I have with professional zoom lenses I’ve had to be watch when very wide for edge quality but not here with the Hasselblad 907X, CFV II 50 C and 45P lens. I’m looking forward to my next picture.

Great real world video! Thanks for putting in the effort to share this....I have an x1d ii and love it. How does it feel around your neck without grip? More cumbersome than something like an x1d ii? And do you feel that the optical view finder is awesome or ok?
@TariqsRock
@TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching it and for receiving it. I wanted the video to share the experience as mush as possible to be real and share as much of the experience with friends. Nice that you have an X1D II. Congratulations! Good questions. They made me think and I didn’t have an immediate answer because I liked the grip so much I leave it on. So a few minutes ago I took off the grip and made some observations. (I left the OVF on but it is so small.) Without the grip, the system is back heavy because the battery is in the back, the battery is also high up on the digital back. With the neck strap attached, standing with the camera, it rests easily on the front of the body, the weight of the back pressing against the body. However, when leaning forward from the hips and letting the camera hang from the neck strap, it tilts backwards because of the heavy back, and the lens points upwards at about 45 degrees. The eyelets on the side of the 907X have metal rings (like key rings) that then connect to the strap. I tried dangling it from my neck like this, and got it to do a little somersault forward like a circus trapeze artist. It rotated forward as expected. The advantage without the grip is it is even smaller, almost too small. Disadvantage is it is harder to hold. Unlike a mirror (D)SLR, holding the 907X up to the face is awkward but there’s an easy solution. Opening the screen to 45 degrees (not 90 degrees, which is possible), with the neck strap on, creates both a good viewing angle, and also allows for a very stable handheld position - by creating tension on the neck strap to camera, and anchoring the elbows into the body. This “triangle” of tension and counter tension is very stable, and lower to the center of gravity. This would work for live view imaging with XCD lenses. The 45P lens is very light and you probably know that already. After playing with it I put the control grip back on and observed the grip offers a good counter balance to the digital back (where the heavy battery is). When hanging the camera from the neck, the battery/back are behind the strap and the grip is in front of it, adding just enough weight with the lens for it to not somersault over, unless it is pushed. So long answer. It would probably make an amusing short video. I haven’t tried an X1D II so I can’t compare the neck strap experience to it. I feel the optical view finder (OVF) is ok, nice to have because I have it, it looks retro and adds some style, but I would be okay without it. I do like it for a quick framing of a picture when the camera isn’t on with the 45P because it is easy to hold up and the range lines are accurate. The center point of the OVF is about 1.5 inches (5 cm) above the body. At that height the OVF is easy to hold up to the face, with or without the control grip attached. Since I was getting the control grip, I felt I had to get the OVF, and glad I have it. If I get any of the other wider angle XCD lenses I think I could get more use out of it. I hope the answers help!

@@TariqsRock Thanks for the detailed answer! This helps a lot. I am hoping to go try one out here in a couple days. Great news that the frame lines are accurate. I like shooting through an optical view finder. The 907x feels like it would inspire me to shoot more...The toss up is, would I rather grab my x1d ii or the 907x for an every day carry. @TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
@Weston James Palmer, you’re welcome! What a fun toss up to have to possibly choose between your X1D II or the 907X for an every day carry! That’s a good type of question to have for the day. I’m glad you’ll get to try a 907X in a couple of days. The 45P is the smallest physical lens and it works great. The other lenses with more weight could better counter balance the digital back when hangin from the neck strap. You’ll probably find a preference. As this form factor is so unique it is definitely something new in the hands, a little mystery, a little joy and a little puzzle of how to hold and handle it. However that becomes a minor thought once I took a few pictures. I imagine the X1D II has a similar effect when taking pictures with it but in a more conventional shape. Well enjoy trying it soon!

@@TariqsRock Haha! It would be only one or the other, I wish I could afford both! I also have the 45P although I wish they made a 65P, but for now it's incredible and I am not complaining. I like your videos, keep them coming!! Forgot to mention this, the reason I was considering the switch is because I am not a fan of the evf. I prefer optical viewfinder or maybe even the screen on the 907x at waist level. There is something about the evf that makes digital cameras feel old and slow. I am ok with the slow process of the entire camera, but not the EVF feel....thats why I am intrigued to make the switch. With an optical view finder, it feels like you are making a picture rather freezing a frame if that makes since?
@TariqsRock
@TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
@@WestonJamesPalmerunderstood it’s one or the other! That’s good because it would be hard to pick one every morning. Haha! I understand your perspective on the EVF feel and how the OVF feel more connected to the experience in photography. I think you’ll get a good idea whether to switch once you get your hands on the 907X. My first impression looking through the OVF for the 907X was positive and is positive. There was that momentary surprise that this is not an ordinary OVF but one made my Hasselblad. My early experiences with rangefinders were old 110 automatic cameras with foggy, barely see through screens. The Hasselblad OVF is not the same as a lens but the optics look clear and I had a nice surprising thought of “Oh I guess it can look good.” Obviously this OVF is closer to a rangefinder with parallax for close subjects. It’s designed to frame far away subjects for three lenses with the appropriate markings. Still for close subjects it still offers a quick look for me to decide whether to turn the camera on for a look on the live view screen, or to move and recompose. The mirror (D)SLR optical viewfinders offer a different experience (no parallax) as they use the prism and mirrors to present light coming through the lens to the viewfinder. Those SLR type OVFs are better to look through and then we have to keep the mirror (mirror lock up and vibration) in mind. Well Canon still built their EOS 1DX mark III with an OVF even as the Canon R line of mirrorless cameras are successful and will be with new R lenses. When you like and OVF and you can better see and create your images through it, you have to take a closer look. Good luck and let us know what you choose to do!

I wonder whether the XCD lenses cover a 6x6 circle? If so, that would open the way for HB to produce a full 6x6 CFV back in the future. Have you tried the CFV on your V system cameras? I have a 500 kit & SWC and the 907 looks very compelling for bridging backward and forward. (Conversely, if I didn't have the old V system gear, I'd get the X1D.)
@TariqsRock
@TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
Good question on whether the XCD lenses cover a 6x6 circle. I’ve been thinking about this today after seeing your comment. The lens is circular as are the shutters, and the sensor is rectangular 645. The key is the widest part of that is 6, and so it seems it should cover enough for a 6x6. Maybe someday we’ll see a digital back for the system for that. I believe the higher end H system sensors are much larger and have probably proved whether that is the path for the X systems. I have not yet put the CFVII 50C back on my V system, but am looking forward to doing that very soon. I was hoping to do it in the last couple of days. That was one of the reasons I bought the 907X and CFV II 50C. Actually, originally I just wanted the digital back so I could use it on my 503CW and enjoy my CF/i/e lenses. Many times when i think of photography my mind’s eye visualizes subjects in the focal lengths of the lenses I own and know. That is usually the inception point of a future photograph for me. I had kept wanting to shoot with the lenses I know and picked this digital back. The bonus was Hasselblad included the 907X with the digital back. Then I decided I might as well buy a lens but the least expensive one, the XCD 45P. This turned out to be a good choice and it’s been fun. In a few days I’ll connect the digital back to the 500 series camera and bridge the past, and the present to new future adventures. So I understand your thoughts on this. If you check back on the channel in a couple of weeks I may have a video with my trying this. The choice between the X1Dii and 907X will be a good problem choice for us to choose between. Life’s good with choices like this. I’m glad you have a 500 kit and an SWC. The SWC are rare and special cameras. I did not have one but appreciate them. I have a 40mm Distagon CF lens and it is my favorite lenses. Good luck on your search, and enjoy the journey!

@@TariqsRock Yes, same thoughts. The 907 bridges forward & backward. The crop isn't so much a concern with the longer CF lenses, but with wide lenses like the 38mm SWC and 40mm. Shooting the SWC is special though - and when I first saw the 907, I knew what they are trying to capture.... It looks fantastic. I'd love to shoot the 907 like an SWC w/21mm or 30mm - through the optical VF with preset (zone) focus. Quite liberating as nothing operates faster or more simply.
@TariqsRock
@TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
@@baker2niner well described, especially on how the shooting experience could be similar with the 907X and 21mm or 30mm XCD lens, compared to the SWC (38mm). The angle of view of the 21mm XCD is as close to the SWC. I agree on all the other thoughts too. When I bought the 907X I didn’t know how I would like the OVF (I placed an early order) but found the markings on the OVF very accurate for the XCD 45P lens. The last picture I took in this video was completely composed through the OVF for the 45P lens. I had not used an SW/C before but this picture gave me a taste for what that could be like, and I could imagine the diagonal field of view of the 40mm CF lens. The markings in the OVF for the 21mm and 30mm should probably be accurate also. The manual for the OVF suggests it is best for subjects that are a larger distance away. That makes sense. For closer distance subjects the OVF still works well for a quick “look see” composition without powering on the 907X (CFV II 50 back). That’s helpful. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights. The bridge is here. All the best to you!

hi Tariq, I would like to have Leica monochrome in my hand but that is not possible I am afraid, I can not afford it. Now a question, I am using Lumix G, i wonder if it loses the quality of the photograph when I shoot in both color and B&W. Another question is, do you think Hasselblad will upgrade the v system camera soon? I am interested in the v system. thank you.
@TariqsRock
@TariqsRock 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Arif, I understand about not being able to afford the Leica M10 monochrome. For someone interested in B&W it. Is a camera to appreciate. I think you’ll have to test the LUMIX G to see the quality in the color and B&W. I don’t know which model you have (full frame or four-thirds) but for something like this, you have to test it to see what you think about it. This will probably take some editing after taking the photographs and possibly printing (another subject itself) to really see. On the Hasselblad V system, as far as the film cameras go, Hasselblad stopped making them in 2006. It is possible to buy used V system (500 series, many models, and even some 200 series), and they are less expensive now than originally, but the quality is as good as before. Finding film and a good lab to process it is another challenge. If the question is will Hasselblad upgrade the 907X, I don’t think so or at least not anytime soon, as this camera just came out last year in the summer and fall of 2020. However, as it is a digital camera, there are software (firmware) updates that are part of this digital system. There is firmware for the camera body, for the digital back, for each lens, and these are upgraded periodically. So a nice thing about digital in this format and others is for many years, you can keep upgrading the firmware and getting small improvements on the same camera, and lenses and some accessories. I did a firmware update video a few weeks after getting the 907X. I had another thought on the 907X body that not many people have discussed. The 907X body doesn’t really need a hardware upgrade. If you think about it, it should be able to just have firmware upgrades, as it is a finger thin camera body, that interfaces between a lens (XCD and others) and the digital back CF II 50C. The optics are in the lens. The sensor (film plane effectively) is in the back, not in the camera. So unlike the X1D system where the digitize sensor is part of the camera body, and needed to be upgraded to gain a physical advantage in sensor, the 907X in theory, should never need to be physically upgraded. This is just my perspective on this. For the 907X, firmware updates should be all that are needed. If there every is a major redesign - and I mean major -- we might see it, and I would be surprised. For your shooting, why do you need the grip and finder? It seems like the basic system would be fine. I am curious tho about how the 907X with the grip handles hand-held. Is it fast enough? Can it replace a DSLR and such? BTW: for on a tripod, good light ISO 100/200, the Foveon sensor on the DP 1-3 Merrill can match the IQ of this Hassy for $400.

Hello Laurence Goldman, Thanks for your questions and observations.The Hasselblad 907X with the grip handles very well handheld. The system feels very lightweight with the grip (compared to DSLR) and the XCD 45P lens is very lightweight. The grip has a very secure feel when attached to the camera. I’m not sure what your question about is it fast enough means, but I can say it is easy to handle. Good questions on the grip and finder. They are not needed to answer the question simply. The 907X with the digital back and the lens handhold easily, and the screen provides good visibility to see. The exception might be in bright sunlight washing out the screen, which I expect as with any monitor exposed to light. I’d like to see if an after market shade could help for those bright sunlight shooting situations. Overall the screen is good, and zooming to 50% or 100% can be done for focus checking. The optical viewfinder is not needed for shooting, and only works with three XCD lenses (the 45, 30, and 21mm, with markings for each in the OVF), and only for subjects at a far distance. The optical viewfinder would be good for wide architecture or landscape photography. The grip is also not needed but I find very useful. Ergonomically it holds the camera well. The other advantages of the grip is it has 4 buttons (which can be customized) for quick access to the menu, playback, AF, and a joystick to help navigate. The touchscreen is easy to navigate by touch and the grip provides another option for that. I have a video on the grip if you’d like to see more about the grip. I believe the Hasselblad 907X can replace a DSLR. If someone needs a fast D/SLR or mirrorless camera for shooting fast action events then staying with brands and cameras that are built for that might be better (sports, weddings, events, journalism). So fast shooting is in the domain of 35 DSLR or mirrorless cameras still. If the priority is quality, art work, landscapes, portraits, and other high end things, then Hasselbald Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) can be found in the 907X. The Hasselblad 3FR uses more bits than other camera systems and the tonal range of colour is very close to natural, For every photographer and every photoshoot the needs are different, and also the physical form factor that best suits the situation. The Hasselblad 907X hand holds very well like the Victor Hasselblad film cameras (500, 200 series) where you rest the camera in the palm of your left hand and your left index finger comes underneath the camera to press the shutter button. This is very familiar to me as I used a Hasselblad 503CW for a long time and I had to learn how to hold it. The feel is the same. I hope this helped answer your questions and provided more information for you. Thanks for your observations and interest.

@@TariqsRock Thanks for awesome reply. When I said “fast enough” I didn’t mean sports/action but vaguely “response time” meaning sort of that point-and-shoot sort of thing where the camera becomes part of you and the picture taking is like breathing as opposed to a view camera with cut film where the set-up for a shot is quite deliberate. Maybe it was watching you work in the demo that gave a little of the latter impression. (Also I realize it’s a new camera getting used to)

@TariqsRock 3 жыл бұрын
@Laurence Goldman, You’re welcome. Thank you for clarifying that fast enough meant response time. Yes, I feel the Hasselblad 907X is fast enough as an extension like breathing. I sense this both in the half press of the shutter button where it focuses and does metering, and also the full press of the shutter button. Both feel responsive. The half press on the control grip shutter button is very similar to the Winder CW that was made for the Hasselblad 503CW. The time for actual focusing on the 907X is slower when compared to top end 35mm DSLRs, but that is expected. When focus locks it is a good focus. With the 4/45P XCD lens (designed after the regular XCD 3.5/45), the lens is light in weight and very silent. I can hear it focus but usually don’t hear the exposure. That is why in the video of the photoshoot I’m looking at the camera to see if it took the picture because it is so quiet. I’m used to DSLR (Canon and Nikon), and also the older Hasselblad 503CW. So yes I think the 907X is fast enough. I understand you’re trying to learn and decide which camera would be best for you. Many times it is the “camera system” as whole including the camera, which I know you understand based on your observations and questions. I would think about what kind of photography and subjects you’re going to do, what physical comfort level you have (especially for different shaped cameras), how slow or fast you need to shoot, and the quality of images you need. With Hasselblad’s 3FR (raw) and HNCS at 16 bits, there is so much data collected that colour rendering and tones feel very real and don’t seem to need much post processing. If you look at my histogram and metering video, all the pictures of the fruit are unedited Hasselblad 3FR. The detail of the purple eggplant in the shade, and the dragon fruit and grapes and everything else are the images as I took them. No post processing on those images. That’s a big time saver. For me that’s very important because I am used to and know the quality of color from film cameras, and from medium format film. When I said I’m impressed at the end of this video I was also surprised that I was impressed. Take your time to think over the questions and the right camera and system for you will become clear. Best wishes on your search. Happy New Year also!

@@TariqsRock Thanks again. Me too, in sense of being sensitive to film images. The 907X caught my attention right away. e.g. I like Leica M-8 (not M-9) for being the closest to Kodachrome I’ve seen digitally. I’m shooting Canon 5DMk3 (not Mk4) because the color rendering is better. I never shot Hassy film, but had used Mamiya C-330 and never got around to 500 C/M, etc. But have no trouble with waist level operation. 10K is plenty money for me so I’m taking my time. (BTW I was serious about Sigma DP Merrill. The Foveon sensor is amazing, if you ever have opportunity to try.) Looks like your set up is a winner. Wish you all my best.

a question: I wonder what is your preference v system or x system? thank you.
@TariqsRock
@TariqsRock 2 жыл бұрын
My preference is the V system. That is also tied to my past photography, memories, a different era in photography, and in life and culture. The X system has been growing on me fast, the 907X, and I’ve had the same excitement with it as I did with the V so far. This is a different time. Photography evolves. There are advantages to both. I’m grateful to be a film photographer who transitioned (still am) to digital to a high quality system. I’m glad I’m not a digital photographer trying to learn film but I respect everyone who tries. I’ll say the V system is first for me, the X system a very close second. There’s a gap after that number. I was waiting for Hasselbald to create the 907X. It took them too long, but they finally made it.

Hi Tariq, Thank you so much; I am attracted to the v system as well. I will definitely think about it. I live in New York, and I wonder if they have a store in New York for more discoveries. I know Leica has a store. To be honest with you, I was never attracted to Leica. Basically, for two reasons. First, I never thought Leica's ergonomics is the best, and second, I think Leica is not a technology-leading company, uses the technology invented by other companies. But I always appreciated Leica because these guys know the art of photography. Their priority is photography. The other companies(canon, sony, etc.), sadly, do not have that realization. They are driven by money, and they put everything in one body. They don't care about the main elements of photography like high dynamic range and more bit depth. A couple of months ago, I discovered Hasselblad, and then I realized there is more to learn. But I think I will wait for the following product of Hasselblad. Best.

@@arifkizilay you’re welcome. You have some interesting thoughts on Leice, and your recognition of their focus on art. I did think you would have liked the Leica M10 for B&W. It’s purpose built for that. I think all the camera companies have to find their niche in photography and what they excel at. I’ve been fortunate to have photographed with top end Nikon and Canon bodies at times. For art photography I love my Hasselblads. I appreciate what I’ve seen in the Leica M10 but never had the opportunity to photograph with it. For more active, on the go.photography, I would prefer a top end Canon or Nikon. I have the Canon 5D Mark III. I’ve been interested in the Canon 1D Mark III, so I could use as dual purpose still photography and also for my video (KZbin and possibly other) work. At this time I’m working with a small video camera, and it’s pocket size. All my videos so far have been with this tiny Sony ZV-1. If my channel grows substantially I’ll upgrade, when it makes sense to. At this time the little video camera works but my vision and imagination for many video scenes exceed what it can do. I’m glad you know what you like. It will make it easier to find. Hasselblad usually sells through dealers, authorized dealers versus having their own stores. In New York, you can find a few good stores such as B&Hphotovideo. Remember it is a journey, and to enjoy it. Enjoy a few stops, people, places, and pictures. Create your images and share them.

Good question! The Hasselblad 907X does not have a hot shoe. There is a “flash in” plug and a “flash out” plug on the back of the digital back, both under a little rubber lip.In the unboxing portion of the video that can be seen on the CFV II 50C. However, no hot shoe or cold shoe. There are a couple of sync cables that come with the camera and back. I’m enjoying using it with natural light outdoors right now.

@@nelsonclub7722 the Optical View Finder (OVF) lens has a customary attached to two pressure clips on the OVF attachment arm, and the base of that arm slides into the top of the 907X body. It is a specific design only for the OVF. It seems designed this way for several reasons to support the OVF and to discourage attaching heavier items including small flashes. The physical tolerances are very low for this small space. A sticker with the OVF states the attachment is only designed for the OVF. Holding the system, I agree. Third party brackets attaching to the bottom of the camera’s 1/4” 20 screw which can place a flash on the side are a better path to pursue. I would like to have one that offers another grip on other side of the camera. I think if someone creates that and the Hasselblad control grip there could be a good rig even if it is bigger. Enjoy your OVF!

I’ve been using Hasselblad’s Phocus Mobile 2 on my iPad Pro 11”(2020) for editing the Hasselblad 907X images. With the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (3FR RAW) and the extra bits of colour recorded, I find most of the images don’t need much editing when looking for natural colours. This is really good for what I like to shoot most of the time. I’ve also heard from other photographers with the 907X and CFV II 50C back say the same thing on the HNCS. I wanted to share that for additional information for you. If you’d like to see some colour examples, the histogram and metering video shows different colour fruits in natural light, in 3FR (RAW), unedited, and they look realistic. This includes tonal range. Maybe that would be helpful. Of course, I understand when you have an editing software you like already that it may be more preferred for you. It’s been fun creating images with the 907X.
