Not everyone felt comfortable with a v series camera or a Rolleiflex, but for those of us who grew up using V series cameras or a view camera and studied photography, this camera is spectacular. I shoot in manual mode with digital camera and frankly, the complex menus of a Canon, Sony and Nikon just make the shooting experience a pain where I sit. The interface of this camera is refreshingly to the point. There are no extraneous complexities that most photographers will never have use for, and the occasional photographer will get lost in and flounder trying to take pictures. The simplicity is functionally elegant as is the menu system. Picture quality is superb. No complaints here.

Absolutely the WORST designed, most IMpractical Hasselblad in a long time. As a long time Hass user I had to pass on this for my pro work simply because of the impracticability of the design - fine if you shoot landscape permanently without flash/strobes - or you shoot square with a crop factor and if so what is the point?) . I have an old 500 (terrible CA and low contrast lenses), an H6 (awful crop factor of 1.3 is moderately bearable) and an X1d - which is superb - when they release the 100MPX next year I hope they seriously address the rectangle!!!!!!!

Hallo, I have a lot of Hasselblad V-series and after 2 years I decided to invest in a 907x and CFV digital back. It is also worth to mention that Hasselblad has a XV adapter to be able to use the V series lenses on the 907x. This is for me great to integrate the digital solution in my equipment. Yes it is an important investment but when one has to invest everytime there is a new sensor or camera on the market you lose a lot of money too. I started with a 500CM and have now also a 553ELX, 903CW and a flexbody with tilt and shift possibility. My photo hobby consists also in film photography with own dark room to develop my films and print my photos. I hope the 907x will give me a new boost of inspiration !! Kind regards from Belgium

Thank you for the review, it’s pretty through in terms of the look and specs of the camera, but maybe having a few pro photographers do some substantial photoshoots will do this camera justice, since from the photos in this review I’m not seeing a reason why I should upgrade my current gear, or how it’s better than even a mid level camera. But overall it’s pretty informative.

If the digital back can attach on film back, can the digital body add on film back ? So we can know how the X1d lens work on film?

Flash sync in Live View? Perhaps if you could explain this I could help. There is Flash Sync although like a relationship status on Facebook 'It's complicated' on this setup. And there is a Live View. Also once you take your photograph it shows you - is that what you mean?

I shoot sports for a living (mostly motorsports) I would love a slow completely different shooting experience for my personal stuff/fun. I have a 501cm and three lenses and would use it as a digital back fairly often but mostly in its complete small camera set up. Sadly the stuff I shoot for fun is on bike trips, hiking, camping so not being dust/weather sealed is pretty much a deal breaker. I know I know the X1D would be the "better" camera for me but just doesn't do it for me like this one.

Returned mine. Connectivity problems between the 907X and the digital back. And memory card read/camera lock up issues. A real shame as it’s a great concept and wonderful design. Maybe after some new firmware...

So you pay a fortune for a sensor that is not even close to its film big brothers (6x6) and even smaller than the 6x4.5 medium format camera ? I suppose there's a reason why they don't got really big with digital medium formats sensors, but at that price I'd rather spend between 2 or 3k€ in 6x7 camera and lenses and the extra 6.5k or 5.5k€ on films, chemicals and a scanner.

Shame that the digital back doesn’t come in Square format. would had been better. Square format is so much better since you don’t have to think of shooting portrait or landscape.

Having a flippy screen on a camera like this, without a square sensor, is frustrating for me. I suppose portrait orientation asks us to squat or raise the camera up to eye level, too bad really.

let’s be a bit brutal: don’t wait for a square sensor to fit 6x6 old hasselblad, it will never happen. sensor ( sony) are made by different company and used by multiple cameras ( fuji, etc...). these manufacturer of sensor need big numbers to amortized their research and in today photography 4/2 or 3/2 is the norm for print. if you need a square for a particular project, just crop it, like the leica Q, but it should be not square natif to fit the largest target buyer. So this 4/3 or a next 100 million 4/3 is what we will get on an hsselblad. Second, using an old lens on a new sensor is not a perfect combo. you will get less micro contrast and the result will need more work on deraw software. So this possibility is nice but not professional. ( and I am not talking about the crop factor). So this 907x is very sexy but not too much a professional camera. for individual it could be a sexy alternative to full frame big chunky DLSR. Hasselblad need to introduce some black and white jpg capability with few setting and a square capability in next software update and they will have something very attractive to individual. of course the histogram too... so obvious. There, the capability to be put on an hold H system is fun and appropriate. So thanks to Hasselblad to extend their public to the individual one who have the possibility to touch their system and the Focus image quality at a fair price. I will look on it carefully.

I think you missed one important factor. This camera is not intended to be a purely digital camera as such, but also provides the solution for film shooters that want to be able to leverage digital to verify exposure and focus through the exact same setup, as was the case with polaroid backs. Unfortunately, Polaroid film for 6x6 is no more, and this provides the bridge for film shooters. Film is still very viable for fine art photography, not just fun.

I still shot film with the 500 series. Hasselblad’s focus is on marketing than what the 907x 50 creatively can produce. Hasselblad engineering has always been great. World War 1 ended; dinosaurs went extinct, Worship technology have digitalized photographers thinking with robotics camera to the moon. Hasselblad, need to stop piece milling a product that alway proven itself. Either stop misrepresenting the Hasselblad, if Sony is manufacturing the sensors. Alpha 1 has just arrived on the commercial market. With 4K , 8K cinema. Slow motion, stabilization, synchronization etc. Hasselblad need a futuristic plan for creative photographers to give them assurance of survival. What is the repair cost going to be? It appear to be another sell job with a forty one comments. What a joke?

@@pinkeye00 True, there is nothing to hold on to but there is a distinct way of holding Hasselblads .It's designed to be held in your left palm with your index finger & thumb controlling the focus ring and your right hand is to press the shutter button & also helps with the balance.Even though the 907x is auto focus it still needs to be held in your palm.Once you get used to it you'll love the experience of shooting with it.
