@@jjberg83 Well all the cities you just mentioned have strict anti gun laws and bad self defense laws. Most criminals in those places do assume and hope you dont have a gun. If it was as ubiquitous to have a gun in those places as it is in Wyoming and self defense laws made sense (stand your ground) then crime would be lower most likely.

I’ve lived in Wyoming my whole life, and yes, I can attest that we don’t really like it when people come and try to change things, just come and enjoy what we have, because while it might not be much, the ability to easily find a place to be alone is incredibly under appreciated until you find yourself sitting in a 10 foot tire watching the sun go down.

My family is thinking of trying to find a place somewhere up there. We live in oklahoma atm. Our justice system here in oklahoma is getting worst every day. Liberals are taking over day by day coming from Tulsa. We want peace. Somewhere quiet but near a good-sized town so the ladies will have shopping and such. How hard and how much would it be to just purchase around 10 or so acres with a house or building one? The economy in oklahoma is VERY low and there are not many good jobs at all. God we just want to live quietly, away from the government's BS, away from drugs, gang violence, thieves, and scum bags.

It would of been nice for him to mention the beadwork and art made by the locals sold at the store as well as the museum that hold stories and history of my culture. The pow wow is a big deal as well and many of us hold on to our old sacred ways and practice them today where we do sweat lodges and Sundance. The community also holds gatherings for people to learn how to make Gotzup (chokecherry gravy), There is also a Program where we can go to learn CrossFit. he was talking about the general area. The truth is the truth. Drugs, gambling, and poverty envelope casinos. Because those habits coincide and are part of human nature, The same can be said for florida or Nevada. He didn't say the indigenous residents are responsible or that they have nothing to offer. People thinking of moving need to know the harsh truth. People visiting for tourism can look at sliver linings. i think he was fair in the way each area or district was represented. Miami has alot to offer but i would be lying if drugs and crime weren't prevalent.

It’s incredible I moved here from NJ. I believe living here has made me a better person and has shaped me as a person a lot. When there is certain environmental challenges and not everything is convenient it makes life a little more interesting and rewarding. Also when people say there’s no jobs or nothing to do they’re full of crap. I have a lot more opportunities here to do what I enjoy and I have more of a future here as young person than I would in a state like NJ where the average cost of living is exponentially higher. I also enjoy more freedom here than I would in any other place I’ve lived I totally understand the wariness of out of staters but people here are generally kind and quick to “let you in” and be supportive if you show interest in actually living the lifestyle.

FWIW I am a tech lead in a startup, and I love it here. I grew up in three major Canadian cities and it always felt like my options were shrinking and everything was getting more expensive while also getting worse. Grew up in Wyoming. Great place to be from. But there's no opportunity there, and the state isn't doing anything to brace for the inevitable energy industry crash. You can't rely on coal and oil forever. Diversification is essential for the people of this state. Just look to West Virginia for what's in store if everything remains status quo.
@florkyman54223 жыл бұрын
Its basicly impossible for oil to crash it makes too much. We have people pushing in legislation for crypto and we have block chain research. No one talks about that tho because wyoming is a place to be left alone and federal government doesn't like crypto.

I grew up in Rock Springs. As an Asian, I had to pretend to be an Indian to avoid being harassed and bullied. In RS HS, we had the Chicanos, Cowboys, the Jocks and then few Heads. But the keggers were very memorable. We also camped and hunted a lot. Western Wyoming is very pretty and caters to outdoors enthusiasts (Big Piney, Pinedale, Dubois). The night skies are simply amazing there. But the wind will drive you crazy as I don't recall a day without wind.

You forgot to at least mention Cheyenne Frontier Days. Not only is it famously iconic, but it is a major source of revenue for the city of Cheyenne. So much so that the reserve money saved from Frontier Days was vital to the economy when it was canceled due to COVID. Wyoming’s a great state, especially for the outdoors. The thing about Greenies is they like to sort of take over the lakes and reservoirs in the Southeast corner. Bottom line: if you play nice when you visit Wyoming, there won’t be any trouble.
