That is pretty wild. I would try to lightly glue the wiring to the inside of the hopper, if possible.

I don't usually buy these off brands, but I do like that they entered the bargain basement marketplace. With that being said, you get what you pay for. Period. The squeaking from those new roller bearing trucks is absolutely absurd and probably why its says right on the Menards website to oil before use. I had my eye on the Burlington Northern, but not so sure.

I was about to note the squeaking but you mentioned it at the end of the video. Have you isolated what was making the trucks so poor-rolling? I have other examples of Menards cars equipped with their roller-bearing trucks and none of those exhibit poor rolling performance, and I haven't heard of such issues with the other ACF hoppers. Probably a moot point since these sold out so quickly (unless another shipment was commissioned).

Not yet…I was able to find some LED light strips on Amazon that are solid colors. Love to see one with a solid purple during Halloween. Or red and green for the holidays. Once the LED’s come in, I’ll get one on the workbench and do a full tear down to find the issue with the trucks. As stated on the video, these are really cool! I’ll get em figured out even if I have to rig up some Lionel trucks to make them work right.

That would look so cool to fill it with water and add small tropical fish. But honestly why would anybody want this?

No... There are no fish that can safely live in a container that small. The smallest tank you can safely keep any fish is at least 2 gallons.
