Sweet unboxing, man! I’ve yet to use an actual Leica lens on my own Leica, but really enjoyed seeing what the experience of receiving one would be like! Would love to see your overall comparisons between your zeiss or other lenses when it comes to field work :)

Why does the 25ish and under crowd double hitch words? Today, button is "buh-in" and in this video "gotten" is now "gah-den." Seriously, it's so pervasive today it must be how english is being taught in school. That aside, nice lens video!

haha, just found your account really funny. Can not wait until the Leica elitists come by my channel and annoy me that I use voigtländer lenses on my M6. 😂 Pretty good video. 👌

Hi Drew i’ve seen couple of videos and really enjoyed hearing your take on stuff. Especially the 28mm focal length opinion. Are you still using the 35mm summicron? Hows it been so far ?
@DrewWaddell

Yes, the 35mm sum micron is still my go-to lens for my Leica camera. It basically lives on my m6. It’s the perfect balance of weight and image quality. Sharp as a tack but won’t hurt your neck, just your wallet (lol). Feels amazing to use as well. Thanks for watching!

bro, nice unboxing. this lens is some real quality craftsmanship. usually, i don’t touch cameras myself (i’m not poor) but this is truly a masterwork creation. excellent unboxing, i will demand my dental assistant to order me this lens at once. p.s, if you ever wish to join me on my yacht on the almafi coast, or perhaps my estate is eastern croatia, please do not hesitate to ask. you bring the M6, i’ll bring the liquor. much love, baron ilijasic of istria

Nice review. I've no 35 mm lenses, but 50 mm from Voigtländer 1,1 , Zeiss 1,5 and now Leica 1,4 . For me there's no doubt, that the Leica is the best for me. Keep on rolling!

Oh boy, I'd love to have that one, too. I'm currently using the Voigtländer 35mm, but the Summicron 35mm is the one I really want. I've got a 50mm Cron and I'm blown away by the quality. Hope you'll share some photos taken with it soon :)

Nice unbox and thought the intro section was funny. The Summicron is a gem and what makes it more enjoyable than the Zeiss ultimately is the ergonomics, though I own both. The focus rings on the Zeiss lenses I own/owned tend to be stiffer and that little nub is just not as easy to deal with. But both excellent when it comes to results - just a matter of preference ultimately and that can change day to day. I also highly recommend the Light Lens Lab 35mm f2.0, which attempts to be closer to the original summicron 8 element. Of the Chinese lenses, it is by far my favorite - both in rendering and quality experience.

I had the ASPH I. And did like the build, also wasn't too impressed with the image quality. The aperture ring on mine had a little play at f2 and f16. My older voigtlander lenses felt like they were much better built so I sold the cron....

Do you believe that the ASPH offers noticeably better results than the 1958 f2 Summicron?
@DrewWaddell
@DrewWaddell 3 жыл бұрын
On a digital camera, the asph is going to be significantly more sharp/ contrasty. On a film camera you probably won't be seeing quite as much of as a difference. If you appreciate the look of the older Leica lenses (I love my 50 DR), then the 1958 version might actually be your preference. You can't go wrong either way! and if you already have the 1958 version, and are thinking about getting the new summicron, consider the style of photos you take, and if the sharpness and contrast suits it, then I think it would be a great addition to your collection. Really I don't think you go wrong with the 35mm summis

Did you snag the "Made in Portugal" one that is a couple of hundred less, or go for the German made one?
@DrewWaddell
@DrewWaddell 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe against my better judgement, I went for the German one. I’m sure the Portugal one is just the same but I don’t know I felt like if I was going to spend that much, I’d want the German made one. Who knows, maybe it’ll hold value better, maybe not, who knows 😂

going to be honest - the ASPH II (the lens you just got) will be wasted on film. It was designed for higher megapixels camera bodies. Should pick up the ASPH I (11879) and save a ton

You’re absolutely right, but I am planing on picking up a digital Leica eventually ;)

main benefit of the ASPH I (to me), is it's smaller size (with their respecitve hoods on). The ASPH II is about the same size as the summilux FLE (when both have the hood mounted), which kind of defeats the purpose for me.
