idk it’s hard to explain but rebecca is SO cool. love her chemistry with rob as hosts and most importantly LOVE how she’s always amazing at reading the room and at the same time providing constant real valuable information & knowledge ❤️

I’m just starting to get into lapidary, but love minerals in general, and have been collecting unusual rough just so that I can have some weird and rare faceted pieces in my collection, so this was a great episode for me! Great job, guys!

These types of episodes are really fun because it gives the viewers an opportunity to test out their own knowledge while watching. Also, a show on New England rocks/minerals/gemstones would be amazing! 😉 ❤️

I like Wulfenite in its natural matrix just the way it comes. I also never knew Rutile grew in such large chunks on its own. Apparently big chunks like that are found in Norway and occasionally in Arkansas here in the US. Fun!

I love how you kept guessing fire opal 🤣 me too 🤣 I'm really impressed with whoever faceted the wulfenite. Also did not know rutile was red either. Very informative & interesting video!

My sister is on a road trip. One of the places they stopped, they dug for fire opals. She chipped one out of the wall thats bigger than a golf ball, but a bit smaller than a baseball. So clear and red. I can slice rocks, but I need a cabochon machine to be able to cut and polish things like that. Someday.. I hope.

Man, I truly love you guys! This channel is so cool, bright, lovely and yes, the stones are fantastic and the knowledge is awesome but it is the people in the videos who just shine with their personalities and I am super grateful to get to learn from this channel! Did I mention that because of this channel, I want to go to GIA school to be certified!

I really loved the Cinnabar. It looks so much like Indian Ruby and I have to wonder how frequently I've unknowingly handled Cinnabar in those mixed loose gemstone trays where many vendors have loose Sapphire and Emeralds in those open trays at various shows. You have to presume they're all thrown in together because Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires of reasonable color and size but poor transparency are not that rare and none of the vendors could be bothered to double-check their stones or box individually. For example, I once knowingly purchased a large unheated yellowish-green Spodumene at a pale Citrine price because the vendor hadn't done his due diligence. He's now my favorite vendor because I seem to have a more accurate eye than he does.

Stumbled across your channel. Really interesting videos ... reminds me of when I was a kid and was heavily into hunting for rocks/minerals/meteorites/etc. A random idea for you, given I'm into radio electronics -- the "Antique Wireless Museum" YT channel just did a video "From Raw Crystal to Crystal Oscillator - Crystals go to War in 1943" -- a bit "dry," but thought the history/science/methods might be of interest to you. In any case, great channel ... thanks and cheers, Christopher

That was so much fun! I was very proud of myself I got most right, but specifically Wulfenite, mica (I said muscovite which I think counts?) and the cinnabar. I did absolutely not expect the crocoite, the sodalite and the rutile, however. Never knew rutile is really red like that. Edit: Oh and the calcite, didn't get that one either, so I guess I didn't get that many right hahahaha

I have a necklace of faceted amber beads - the largest bead is about the size of a walnut.It belonged to my great-grandmother, which would make it a Victorian item. It's really beautiful and dramatic, and I enjoy wearing it in memory of my great-grandmother, who was a Lowell mill girl (sing "Bread and Roses" here) So amber *can* be faceted. I've been told it was also heat-treated to improve its internal refraction. Against a nice chunky sweater it's really dramatic.

My friend had amber pieces that were gifted to her when she was touring Europe mid-20th century. She took some to the local jeweler for appraisal. The high school student clerk asked her why she wanted to get plastic appraised. My brother-in- law's grandfather, Lyle Hardy, had around 2 dozen unique cuts that he developed, and had published in "Gems and Minerals." My neighbor brought my sister and me pieces of mica after a day trip to Silver City, New Mexico. We took delight in pulling off the sheets and floating them in the gutter water. I was only 4, and didn't understand why my neighbor was so upset when he discovered what we were up to.
@yasminlily Жыл бұрын
The mica...I thought the one shown might be lepidolite given the violet color? It is a form of mica. Maybe I'm missing a key bit of info. 2nd... the wulfinte and another vibrant piece... I kept thinking zircon. I didn't hear any rule outs in your remarks. Again, there must be key factors at play about what you look at for zircon that escapes me.

I just noticed how you remove the gloves, you touch all the surface that has touched the gemstones with your bare hands xD. What you should do is remove the first by flipping it over and then use the flipped glove bits to hold the second one and flipping it over the first one, making a glove ball with no dangerous exposed parts
