The original Shimano ads marketed this as a budget rod. I figured since the Sellus was already around, this rod would be about $40. I was very wrong.

My thoughts is that this isn't a Budget rod or Entry level rod. If you look a the Sensilite, that is totally an entry level rod. So that is a 40 dollar rod with extra 15% slapped on for the name. This rod, based on the design and components, it would be normally marketed against the 79.99 price range rods; however, since again, shimano name, add 15% and covid price.. BAM, it's a gonna be a Benny. Aliexpress always mark their prices low and blame it on the shipping btw. Perhaps its a way for them to write off tax?

For me it is more a Power bfs rod more ml than light. And really fast.

Oh I will always use finesse. I will frog and do many topwater baits! The only thing different is the big glide bait swimbaits that I will use once in a while. Power bfs is still finesse! ;)

@@rawrfishing sup jimmy, I just started throwing my baitcaster since nerve episode, still have nerve damage but was careful during therapy which ended, it's hard but only did 5 min on deck. Well it's 6 pin vbs and I had 4 off and was backlashing, how do I set 3 brakes? Go every other one? Or 2 diagonal and another 1? Sry it's off topic but April coming fast lol. Ty

Hey bud! I wanted to ask you a question about where I should buy this rod. I can get on Ali express with free shipping for 70-80 bucks. Or I can buy from bait express for 105. What do you recommend. I’m in the US and I’m on a college budget so any money I can save I would like too.

Buying over seas will be cheaper. But there are risks to that. If it breaks during shipping, I don't know what the process is with aliexpress. I assume it's a refund. But the down side is delivery time and also I don't know how long the process is for any refunds. Although BFE is a bit pricier, u would get it quicker and we know communications would be better if there are any issues that arises. I have been a college student once! And let's just say even after college, the bills still lingers! But the minor difference in cost would be safer during the holiday season as we don't know how the rod would be handled from China to the US. The reason why shipping is cheap is because they throw it around different carriers until it get to the US. BFE gets my vote

@@rawrfishing I agree with you! I have given it some thought and decided to go with BFE because I assume they have a good return policy. I’m never ordered from there. Sometimes a rod doesn’t feel right when you get it in your hands ya know? But I agree with you on the shipping part. I was very concentrated about that with Ali express. Also getting the actual authentic item is a concern as well with me. I assume BFE has a way of verifying that the product is legit? I wanted to also say thank you for responding so fast! You’re awesome man!

BFE is definitely a better place to go as Amir have connections to actual suppliers and he would check everything before selling them. Some of these aliexpress webstores are not real stores! They are pop up stores that does drop shipping with who knows what suppliers they use. If you have any questions, do reach out to BFE. Again, communication with someone who speaks English is always going to be better and having your questions answered would put you at ease before spending that money!

I’m looking to use it for small mouth in a river and this rod looks like it has the back bone to do it. I’m pairing it with a zephyr. Any recommendations on upgrades for the zephyr?

Nice! Likely won't need any bearings. Micro bearings will make lighter lures cast easier, but u would lose out on distance. If anything, standard size ceramic hybrid bearings may help you. I would say just wash out the stock bearings and put high performance bearing oil and you should be good to go. Cheers and have fun 🙌

I just bought my first BFS reel, the Kastking Zephyr. Would an Ugly Stuck medium work for this purpose?

I don't think I know enough about Ugly Stick to say, but I think a Medium might be a bit too heavy. BFS is mainly ML and below, but some HIGH end Medium rods would work as it goes down lower, but the higher end spectrum might be too much. Knowing Ugly stick, it might just be too heavy

This rod is not the traditional Shimano rod because it doesn’t come with the Ci4 reel seat, that why I didn’t like it so not for me
