Nice I just applied for this card, currently waiting to pick it up at Scotia here in Lethbridge! I'm planning a trip to Europe next year and am curious if this card will allow me and a guest access to most airport lounges, or does it only give access to certain lounges?
@lispmanfinance5 ай бұрын
This card allows guest access as well! Just uses one of your 6 passes

@@lispmanfinance awesome and can I get access into any lounge with this card?

Wealthsimple cash has no foreign transaction fees, 1% cashback. Not a real credit card but no annual fee + 4% interest
@Kreighzey5 ай бұрын
This. U also get 1% cashback on foreign purchases (confirmed) and 5% interest (with direct deposit + 100k assets)
@Jsouta5 ай бұрын
The accelerators should also apply in foreign transactions, so when traveling, restaurants, entertainment and rides give 2x Scene points - I would say these categories cover most of the spending when traveling, so for the most part you'll be getting 2% on foreign transactions, which is pretty good.

Don't think boosted rates apply in a foreign currency. Most credit cards see foreign purchases as regular transactions
@agribex15784 ай бұрын
They do apply, in my experience.

Since you hold momentum infinite, are you not eligible for both 30k Scene and first year $150 waived?
@lispmanfinance5 ай бұрын
So far they are not charging me for the 150 annual fee. Though I won't get the 30k bonus. I think the 30k bonus is bank specific where I am already a client whereas the $150 is card specific.

I also saw the Odissey World Elite yesterday and trying to choose between Odissey and Scotia Passport. I will be using these cards strictly for travel and I don’t care about the points. I see Odissey WE has a much better insurance and waranty perks but not sure how many international Lounges entrences I have with it. The Scotia Passport has the 2.5 conversion fee waved. What do you think? Should I get the Odissey for its insurance and perks and apply for a wealthsimple(or other) with 0 conversion fee? Or just go with Scotia with lower insurance and 0 conversion fee without the need to get another card? Just thinking, thank you again
@lispmanfinance3 ай бұрын
The scotiabank passport insurance aint bad for travel. In fact, its about the same. I would get that to waive the foreign fee and enjoy the lounge! Honestly, you wont be using the warranty anyways. The foreign fee waives is a pretty big deal though

I'm switching from Brim to Rogers WE because 3% - 2.5% = 0.5% on foreign purchases and it's a free card.
@lispmanfinance5 ай бұрын
That only for US purchases though. 3% doesn't apply to other currencies
@Classfied15 ай бұрын
@@lispmanfinance but isn't the card essentially a 3% cashback credit card?
@lispmanfinance5 ай бұрын
3% only for domestic and US Currency purchases. I'm pretty sure the cashback amount disappears when in another currency. A good free option will be Wealthsimple Cash Card. 1% cashback for EVERYTHING, even foreign transactions. And they waive forex fees. But it's not a credit card. You can't build credit and it takes money out of your account once you use it.
@litcrayon5 ай бұрын
Yes i do that too when in the US, but keep in mind you get screwed if you return something since you get charged fx both ways with no cash back, I use rogers MC for regular purchases in the US like food, transport and if there is something I may return I use the wealthsimple cash card
@Classfied14 ай бұрын
@lispmanfinance Late reply, but I made an EURO purchase, and my cashback didn't disappear. Now, if I redeem this against my Rogers bill, I should come out on top.

are the 6 lounge access for you and your companions too? or is there a limit. for example, does one entry include my companion or one entry per person meaning if i have a companion that would equall -2 entries and you are left with 4??
@lispmanfinance2 ай бұрын
Each guest uses up 1 entry. So 6 entries total. If you go to the airport with a guest and both use your card's lounge access, you lose 2 right there.

@@lispmanfinance No more cards, hahaha I'm already walking with a limp trying to pack all these cards around, 8 cards is enough. Then EQ n WS just to make sure I keep my cardio up.

Don't you get the reward point with the cobalt even if you buy outside Canada ?
@lispmanfinance5 ай бұрын
You do, but they don't waive foreign transaction fees. And amex has some of the worst exchange fees. It's not a good deal to use Cobalt card abroad.
@sabhierules14 ай бұрын
6:58 I thought you were like 22 😶 but yeah the Passport is a great card to save on FX fees when travelling. I notice the Rogers MC has a pretty bad exchange rate when I travelled even though the 2.5% fee is reduced with the 3% cashback. The Passport has a much better exchange rate, maybe this is a Visa vs Mastercard thing.
@lispmanfinance4 ай бұрын
I'm surprised! Usually Mastercard has a slightly lower exchange rate than Visa. Maybe it's just the day you made the purchase? There may be times when Visa has a slightly lower exchange rate. But in general, Mastercard's exchange rate is the best. I would say 70% of the times.
