Excellent review. In the mid-1980s I bought a 20 and 12 gauge Citori, each used for $500 . After about 20 years of heavy use the safety does sometimes slide in between over and under and will not engage, so I had a gunsmith pin the safety so the safety is reliable and the under barrel always shoots first. After 38 years of heavy hunting use, the Citori served me well and I use it for waterfowl up here in Alaska, then wintering in Montana I use it every day with my extended upland season

You got a good deal on those shooting sticks. Sounds like they've been put to good use.

I have a Citori and it is sure nice shooting.

I would have simply bought a lesser grade. I used to have a Citori 725 and branny new it was only 2700. Used ones that are like new can be had for 2K

Yeah, I normally shy away from brand new guns, because I'm pretty tough on shotguns . I don't mind a few dings on a gun knowing that the character marks I add over the life of that gun will make those seem minor.

I'm a Beretta man myself, but this Citori is absolutely beautiful!
@UltimateUpland3 жыл бұрын
I'm open to testing Beretta shotguns. Would be an interesting direct comparison, not sure which would win -- 693 Field III seems a good option if we could locate one on this side of the pond.
@BeatRock2533 жыл бұрын
Yeah that would be awesome to find a Beretta equivalent. I don't know exactly which one would fit the bill. I personally own a Beretta 694 Sporting for clays and an A400 Xtreme Plus for waterfowling. Next year I want to find a 20 or 28 gauge O/U for our pheasant release sites here in Western WA. For now I'll be shooting my A400 in 12 at em.

It's absolutely astounding to me that I have to spend $6500 to get a high gloss stock. When you could buy a beautifully finished 870 wingmaster in 1987 for $300. It just doesn't track.....
@UltimateUpland10 ай бұрын
Well, to be fair, this gun offers more than just a high gloss stock. But early Wingmaster had some eye appeal. But comparing a high production pump to a short run custom double is apples and oranges. The Wingmaster you reference is probably worth $650 now. Good investment if you left it NIB. May net a better ROI than a Citori. But few people who paid $300 for a shotgun ever leave it in the box.

Right. I agree. Had a 1984 wingaster that literally looked brand new after being used in the grouse woods every year for the last 15. Treat it like a valuable tool and use it a d it won't get beat up.....that simple.
