i've never even heard of the procedure in reptiles. like, it makes sense (especially when a snake is especially important to a family or expensive) but it's gotta be a pricey microchip insertion. cats and dogs are easy because they have such stretchy skin but for snakes? wild.
@tyneblackburn5533 жыл бұрын
@@UCVWnuJnz0LguhAS_MYI3few It actually wasn't that hard to do. Cost the same as having a cat or small dog microchipped. Just had a reptile vet do it. They pushed in between her scales and inserted it. She wasn't happy, but she shed about a week later and it stopped bothering her by the next day. The tail was the only part that didn't come off in one piece during that shed, but the spot was all healed up. After her next shed you could barely even find it.

A red bellied /black snake at a local BBQ, would get people scurrying in all directions in Australia. However! They are stunningly marked with black shining scales , black eyes, usually a red belly, however some are found with pale pink or white bellies.. They can grow over a couple of metres and can get quite thick around the middle. Like us all, depending on the food supply...They like frogs and mice and are fairly placid. However they are venomous and look very intimidating when flared up .. Not for handling as a novice..

I feed my redbellies mostly frozen thawed black field slugs off the end of coffee stir sticks, and they are thriving in their bioactive planted tank for over a year now. They've doubled in size and are not shy... saw some courtship behaviour recently so hopefully babies are on the way! Not a beginner snake, but definitly one of my favorite species... so sweet and gentle. Love the channel!

I'm so happy I found your channel a couple weeks ago!! I'm not afraid of snakes but if I encountered one suddenly in the tall grass, mostly garter snakes, it will startle me and I will run away. I could never have a snake, so I'm sorta living vicariously through you and Ed! :) I've enjoyed going back and watching all your videos and learning more and more about snakes-- I even started painting small portraits of snakes and its been so fun! I hope to have a whole rainbow of snake portraits even if their colors don't entirely exist in the wild. :)

Red bellies are my favorite snake! I'm from Northwest Iowa and growing up I found tons of these snakes in my area! Not every year, but when I did see some it was usually a couple every year. One year my dad found a large one, and she was a gravid female and we found out they were live bearers! I would love to keep some captive bred Northern Red Bellies, they are such a prominent snake of my life and bring me such joy as such sweet little snakes.

Perfect Name! She does look descended from the Great Black Dragon of Warcraft fame for sure. Speaks volumes of what great owners she had to be so well cared for and to take the time to make sure she went somewhere where she’ll be loved and appreciated, not just cared for. Just found your channel from Wickens Wicked Reptiles. So glad I came by!

There better be an Onyxia feeding video after she's done quarantine, that would be glorious haha But man, those owners loved the heck out of her by getting her microchipped and such. Shame they weren't able to keep her, but at least now people can oggle at her beauty and such

Snake Discovery : giving heart attacks to their Australian viewers since 2015. Today's edition: "these are some red bellies" Literally every Aussie in the audience will have had an instictive "NO!!!!" reaction, before realising that your idea of a red belly is a very, very different, non-bite-y, non-deadly snake, not of the red bellied black snake variety.
@inkwhiskers99482 жыл бұрын
