it's hard to choose the prettiest one. I did not know that there are 32 types: D. A pendant with cut thirmaline would be gorgeous. I would like you to do an episode with Opal. The most beautiful stone in the world: D

I think that it would be super awesome if you could do a video all about Kentucky Agate, with it’s popularity even with people uninterested in collecting, I believe it could do really well on the channel! Also with it being such a largely popular agate variety, it would be really awesome to hear all about different elements that make up the stunning colors as well as inclusions and formations! Plus it’s practically in our back yard!

My favs in this clip in order are the Paraiba, the Rubellite, and the yellow. I'm curious as to if yellow could be treated to pink or vice versa by heat or irradiation as the coloring agent is different oxidative states of the same element. Are all light blues considered "Paraiba"? Keep up the good work! #youhadmeatTourmaline.

OK, so each time I watch one of your vlogs I think that you guy's can't outdo yourselves. Well, this video is so far in the lead. I kind of choked up a bit when you guys showed the Liddicoatite. I was going through the GG program on campus when my instructor came in and said, "HE is here!". Indeed, Mr. Liddicoat was on campus that day. I CAN'T describe or tell how kind, warm, and approachable he was and how generous this ROCKSTAR of the gemological world was with his time. Thank you again for another amazing video that gemologists and enthusiasts can enjoy. You guys rock!

I'm absolutely obsessed with Tourmaline. I had a pineapple-size block of white quartz with multiple rods of bluish green, dark blue and one bi-color crystal running through it and when my place was broken into, it was stolen. I've never found anything remotely similar below a high 4 digit price tag and insurance limits were quickly exhausted replacing other items.

Pink Tourmaline. Wish you could have a look at my vintage PT ring, women's -- rather showy -- and I never take it off and everyone gasps when they see it! I am an artist and all colors or absence of them are my favorites in gems, minerals, and everything else. Through your channel, I have learned to love even more than I thought I did! I think seeing the many varieties of one gem, mineral, or anything under the umbrella, is wonderful and hope to see more of such things..and have here. Thanks, as always!

EASY top 10 in my all time favorite minerals & gems! It’s tricky to pick a definite favorite, but seeing as variety is a shared trait in my top 5 it’s certainly up there! Rubellite or paraiba being my two favorite varieties(paraiba being one of the major ones I’m still trying to acquire😂 maybe someday, hopefully😂) my favorite piece I own is an indicolite crystal with 3 different shades with a teal lower end, an aqua blue middle and an inky blue cap💎

In the metaphysical community black tourmaline is one of the most protective stones. It allegedly blocks negative energy and negative entities. People will frequently wear it or use pieces to grid their homes ie put stones in all the major corners to energetically build a fence to guard against spiritual nasties. Also 108 beads are used to make Buddhist malas (like a rosary but used to count recitations of mantra). It doesn't look that great faceted or cabbed but strings of beads look very elegant and it can be used as spiritual protection!

How do you differentiate them from quartz? I guess there must be some obvious tells, but for a newbie, what would be the first thing to check for? Also, I found a lump of stone I have with a small golden nugget, it could be pyrite, but it's so yellow and also, I found it in a zone where there could be gold. with such a small piece, will I ever be ale to tell if I found myself a tiny gold speck?
@gems
@gems Жыл бұрын
The first thing to check would probably be the striations running down the length of the crystal. These are numerous and pretty common on tourmaline but less of a feature on quartz. Also, the sides of tourmaline are often rounded or convex, whereas quartz usually are not.
