When is split and glass coming out? I can’t wait, the movies are so well designed well produced and the best trilogy for a real world scenario superhero movie, they write these movies to be as real as possible.
@sameehkins59572 жыл бұрын
I actually wish there were more superhero movies like this. Ones grounded in reality. I dont see why every superhero movie has to be Comedy-action as it's main genre. Variety is what makes things interesting and it would be cool to have superhero movies broken up into sub-categories with thriller superhero movies (no comedy, not action), sci-fi superhero (no comedy, no action). That way there would be way more variety in superhero genre.
@deadsetondreams19882 жыл бұрын
EXACTLY! Instead of Marvel and DC, I prefer the offbeat superheroes that are more grounded in reality. From Marvel I like Iron Man, and from DC I like Batman the two who are literally just regular guys essentially with a means of buying their way into being a superhero. Other than that, I prefer regular people who aspire to be superheroes like Kick-Ass, Super with Rainn Wilson, and movies of that nature. Those are the storylines I gravitate towards instead of actual superhumans with superpowers. Or at least heroes that are more humanized, for instance, Legion (the FX version not the movie, there is no relation), which takes place in the same realm as X-Men. Or Scott Pilgrim Versus The World, or even Zombieland, again, real people who can just kick butt but still take names. Even Stranger Things or I Am Not Okay With This; real people who just happen to have powers manifest.

That moment when you realise that this was never David's story, it was always Elijah's story.
@getshwifty31012 жыл бұрын
Elijah had no idea Bruce's character existed. He wasn't ANY % sure. He even said: "I had almost given up hope. But then I found you." He created multiple mass murders, disguised as accidents, all to TRY to find someone like Bruce. He was at a point that even he, himself thought he was just pointlessly killing people. But then he "heard it. 'A sole survivor of a train crash.'" (Edit) Btw, if you ever end up on a tarp covering a pool, and it starts slipping. Pick a direction, and start pulling the tarp towards you, the closer the better. As once you go under, if you can manage to grab the end of the tarp, you can slide it down your body. Some of the tarp will still be above you, but for the most part, cause you pulled, the area in front of you should be clear to surface.

I love the titles of the three Movies. First "Unbreakable". Then "Split", and if something is splitted it's like "half broken". And lastly "Glass", which is the most breakable thing ever. Plus, the titles also represents the 3 main characters and how "breakable" they are.

Elijah wasn't trying to get revenge on the world, he wanted to find his purpose by finding his exact opposite, someone unbreakable, his logic was if such person exists they would be capable of surviving those "accidents". It's actually tragic, he gave all of his potential and hopes on the slim chance that someone like that existed, then he wouldn't feel like a mistake

I love how well Unbreakable has aged over time, especially with this current era we're in where there's a new superhero movie every few months. Back when this was released, the only mainstream superhero movies were Batman and Superman, and the first X-Men movie; the last of those came out only a few months prior to Unbreakable. With how popular the superhero genre is now, it's really awesome that this movie is around to sort of critique and break down the basic elements of a superhero story.

I love Jeremy Jahn's comment during his retrospective review of Unbreakable: "Of course, we all know that Bruce Willis actually IS invincible in real life. After all, he made THIS movie (shows a poster for A Good Day to Die Hard), and he STILL gets work. He IS...UNBREAKABLE."
@dannybob422 жыл бұрын
What if Superman didn't know he was Superman? The other great M Night Shyamalan movie with Bruce Willis, one of Tarantino's favourite movies too. Of course the Sixth Sense is amazing, but Unbreakable does not get its dues enough, I felt it was a spectacularly made film (the color tones of characters like purple and green for Elijah and David, the framing acting like a comic book, the camera movement and the subtle music), and that final Shyamalan twist, it makes the movie twice as good. Fun, well not so fun, Fact: the scene where David's son pulls a gun on him actually happened in real life to Christopher Reeve, the actor who played Superman. A kid pulled a gun on him to try and prove he was actually Superman, and Reeve had to talk him down by implying that he was but the bullet could hurt someone else when bouncing off of him

This is a solid movie and yes, it is a superhero movie, imagine a time if you will before the MCU, before formulaic writing, when original, interesting stories were being told, this is a super hero movie that broke the mold before it was even made the status quo by disney and marvel.

I adore this movie -- saw it as a teenager when it first came out and rewatched it so many times. The best thing about watching Split as soon as it came out was that you actually had no idea it was a sequel to this. It was marketed as a standalone film. It was an immense surprise that the two were connected. This one here is still my favorite of the trilogy...it's just incredible, but Split is fantastic as well. I just love how grounded this movie is. I honestly wish there were more superhero films like it.
@pyronuke47682 жыл бұрын
This is a good example of when M. Night Shyamalan is directing in his element. He has a very specific style that works well in the suspense-drama-thriller genre. However It's when he tries stepping out of his element that you get movies like The Last Airbender and The Happening.

The last Airbender wasn't his fault though lol. The producers forced a recast (a white cast), and script rewrites, which he didn't want or approve... at all. So you cant really attribute the failure of that movie, to him. That would be the fault of the producer's.

Its not a superhero movie, its a movie about a superhero (and supervillain). There's a fine distinction. Also this movie is more grounded, more gritty than the average cookie cutter assembly line movies from Marvel-Disney, some of them I swear were written by AI programs using a set template 🤪 Still in my top ten list of fave movies, and along with "Die Hard" is my fave Bruce Willis movie (Willis and Sam Jackson also starred together in the 3rd Die Hard movie!). The twist is great, it made me watch the movie again to catch the clues, which in hindsight are obvious if you're familiar with superhero / comic book tropes.

It's an incredible movie, the fact that the film didn't catch up until years later is incredible. All the common films we see in Hollywood these days get repetitive, so films like this one are amazing. I think it was around 2014 when I saw the film and I thought it was amazing then years later split came out, in my mind, I thought "Huh that's an interesting take on mental illness and how it could actually be real." Then finally Mr.Glass came out and I was stunned. The trilogy was f...ing awesome. Sure there was action but that's not what gave the movie the 5-star review, no the dramatic storytelling, the concept of the weakest and most fragile and how there should be an opposite, the powerful and strong, then spilt and its take on multiple personalities in which a disorder and cause the mind to break its own rules of nature. This was amazing. I loved the films, S-tier!!!!!!!

Nice reaction! Side note: he probably has a gun for home defense, but with a kid that age and the fact that they clearly don't spend time at the shooting range, that gun should have been better secured. I grew up in a house with guns in every room, but we also went to the shooting range every week. We knew gun safety and knew the place to use them was at the ranch or the range. Those guns were as common to see as a broom or a magazine in the house. We never had one close call or incident. That's because we were raised to understand, respect, and take care of firearms. Not everyone is raised that way, though, and I understand not every household will have the same experience and me. But there's no need to see someone as bad or careless for having a gun, even if that's what the director wants you to think.

Oh dude I just realized, I noticed you haven't watched Blade on here yet, It's not quite as gritty and realistic as this one, but I would put them in a similar category of movies. Blade is a Marvel comic property and the movie came out in 1998 and Starred Wesley Snipes as Blade, he's a vampire hunter super hero, there's 3 movies and the whole trilogy is worth a watch, and since it has vampires you could watch it maybe in early October, as I wouldn't classify it as a horror/ Halloween movie per say, but a super hero movie that uses beings associated with Halloween/horror. Like an in between movie leading up to the horror movie fest. Also I highly recommend the movie Van Helsing for Spooky season, it has Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale. It's set in the world of the old Universal Horror movies like Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Wolfman. It's one of my guilty pleasure movies because it wasn't technically received well in theaters, and as far as I know hasn't gained any sort of cult movie status. Just some suggestions.

And as for your confusion, Elijah committed all those murders trying to look for David, his exact opposite, all the while trying to figure out where he fit in the world, which happens to be the super villain as opposed to David being the hero. Also little fact, when David is at his job and just standing in the crowd. You see a mother, wearing a pink outfit I think, bump into him. Price reasoned that if he was at one end of a spectrum, being very easily injured, there must be someone at the other end and so created many disasters to try to find him. At the end, he realized that he must be the super-villain and observed that in comics, the superhero and villain were often originally friends, for example superman and Lex Luthor.
