I'm so glad that I didn't go into this knowing it was about comic books and superheroes because I don't think I'd have watched it. After watching the trailer and the first 10-25 minutes of the film I thought that Elijah needed David to help him medically somehow.. Haha what a great surprise of a movie!

Elijah's victory (it is)/catharsis is some of Sam Jackson's best acting in his career for me. He feels so complete and so unburdened to finally understand not only that he's a monster but *why*, and *for whom* - his life's purpose is to be in opposition to the very hero he sought to prove existed, and he'd been filling it all along.

I'm glad more and more people are getting into this film and appreciating it, including myself over the years. What I liked here is while it is taking elements of comic books and comic book style films, its trying to be more realistic. In the sense of David just believing he's just a normal dude with a shitty normal life. Imagine never being sick in your life or never remembering that you almost died from drowning. Then some dude comes into your life and basically tells you: "Oh you're something special!" I love the relationship with the characters here. While David and his wife's relationship was strained, they still love and care about each other. I love the relationship with David and his son Joseph, who wants nothing more than to believe that his father is a superhero. And I also like the relationship with David and Elijah. Two polar opposites and yet, are similar in some ways. It makes the betrayal at the end all the more believable and heartbreaking.

People remember when they get hurt or sick but they don't remember otherwise their "normal" days. There are accidents that occur in sporting events and life in general where people don't get injured at all, and they walk it off. They're amazed they survived and nothing happened, sometimes thanking their god. I'm sure this happened with him ALL THE TIME, as opposed to the few times it happens to people in their lives, and he just never took into account that it was odd.

'Unbreakable' is obviously fiction, but it does a stellar job of bringing across how, when the Ineffable touches you, your life will never be the same again.

They absolutely can on some level replace bones. My boyfriend was in a serious car accident and has a titanium tibia, collar bone, and part of his jaw. But with someone like Elija.. that wouldn't be possible. It would literally require replacing his entire skeleton, which cannot be done. His bones wouldnt be strong enough to hold the titanium in place, even if it was just a few bones that were replaced. Great reaction! I love this movie!

The ending is an existential rebellion against the fact that Elijah is disabled and that he needs to embody a villain

The problem with trailers is that they overhype a bad/mediocre movie by showing all the best parts. Or ruin a good movie by spoiling the plot, or giving too much away. Their only purpose is to maximize revenue. A good alternative is finding a few youtube channels that give transparent, balanced, non-spoiler reviews.

The comic books are the segue between Elijah's search and David's search. They are actually searching for the same thing, though for different reasons.

"They called me Mr. Glass." Fun Fact: Feature film debut of Laura Regan as a young Audrey. Casting Notes Fact: Writer/Director M. Night Shyamalan always had Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson in mind to play the roles of David Dunn and Elijah Price. Director M. Night Shyamalan cameos as the stadium drug dealer. Medical Fact: Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a real, but rare disease. Australian celebrity and reality television show personality Quentin Kenihan (who is disabled in real-life, which was seen and depicted in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)) was born with the disease. People with this disease generally don't grow to be as tall as Samuel L. Jackson. Osteogenesis Imperfecta is described as having 4 types each increasing in severity. At the time this movie was made only 4 types were identified. There are currently 8 types of the disorder identified as well as several subtypes.

there's also apparently a type where it has the opposite effect, where it creates too much protein, and thus makes the bones very dense, and very heavy, and thus hard to break, but also more easy to drown in deep water. Maybe Bruce Willis had this type of thing oddly enough, as both Elijah and David have a way of getting information from people, Elijah through some strange charisma or something like that, and David by his ESP.

17:49 What does America have to do with anything? I don't know anyone with a gun. I've never even seen one aside from on a cop's belt. He has one because he's a security guard.

Depends on what part of the U.S. -- Even in Texas, where some believe that everyone has an armory of assault rifles, one won't really see any guns, unless they go to a very dangerous part of a major city like Houston or Dallas, some hick trailer park on the outskirts, someone's farm maybe. Otherwise, even most people in Texas won't see a gun outside of a gun range. The only people that open carry here are police officers and fools. Concealed carry...yeah, but the idea is to keep it out of sight from someone looking to steal it. I don't blame her though. The whole Americans and guns thing is an over-exaggerated stereotype. Its like what most U.S. citzens think about Colombia, that cocaine is sold on every street corner. (It isn't) Every country has its stereotypes that are only accurate in certain areas and situations.
