She actually said something about JohnLock at around 10:40 that made me laugh, "We would not have had WWII if the Sherlock fans were running parliament." A Sherlock fan _was_ running the government. Winston Churchill was a good friend and major fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Holmes novels. They met at the Pall Mall Club in1900, where they both gave a speech on the South African War. Some even believe that Churchill got his famous line, from his speech after the Nazi's bombed the crap out of England and the RAF bravely defended the nation, "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” from Doyle. (Churchill actually preferred Doyle's historical books over the Sherlock series, but he was an admirer of both.) And the feeling was mutual. In a letter to The Times in 1927, Doyle wrote about Churchill’s account of the Somme Battle, stating “Personally, I have long recognized that Winston Churchill has the finest prose style of any contemporary.” (Not something successful authors often say about politicians.) It was a long and interesting friendship - though thankfully not a SHIP-ship as far as I know.

Genuinely, with everything I’ve learned from going down the gaylor rabbit hole- still standing behind Larry is just plain delusion but still believing Kaylor is ongoing is insanity. Whether Kaylor happened or not, Karlie betrayed Taylor with her having (allegedly) known that Scooter intended to buy her masters and not warning her. Like forget the idea of them being romantically involved for a minute, that’s so deeply terrible on another level. Like it ruined their friendship regardless (and that’s not even bringing in the fact that Karlie married and had kids with a Kushner). To still cling on to Kaylor now is to ignore everything that probably ruined their friendship in the first place and if they WERE dating, that must’ve hurt Taylor way worse. For both, it’s a level of delusion to still insist in something never proven that you’re willing to claim a real child in a real marriage is a cover up. Like that kid is gonna grow up and possibly be faced with those rumors and you honestly think their existence is just publicity????
@Allison1111 Жыл бұрын
I've gotten into fights with Kaylors, they genuinely terrify me too. Some think Karlie's kids are secretly Taylor's too which is insane. Why would you ship her with someone that betrayed her?

@@Allison1111the same actually goes for larries. They either think Freddie (Louis’ son) is a paid actor (and a doll as a baby) that they photoshop to look more like Louis, he’s the child of his grandma and step grand pa or he’s Louis and Harry’s child, because Louis obviously has never touched a woman in his life and bisexuality doesn’t exist (you know if lastly was real, he could still have a child with a woman, if he was bi)

@kjarakravik4837 Жыл бұрын
@margarete5920 Honestly making an official marauders movie sounds like a terrible idea since fans are the ones who created almost everything from scratch. If they took ideas from the fandom and profited off of it it would be a copyright nightmare, and if they did something completely different none of the fans would be happy since that would go against more than a decade of headcannons. Plus, I think it's way more fun that stuff like marauders or goncharov 1973 are collaborative efforts by thousands of different people who still somehow manage to have a cohesive canon. Having jkr weigh in on what's canon and what's not would take away from the magic
@beth8191 Жыл бұрын
@@margarete5920 yeah I definitely agree with what @kjarakravik4837 said, the whole basis of the marauders fandom is that we built it up ourselves, if we let JKR or WB get their hands on it (which they wouldn’t bc JKR hates fanfics and it’s queerness) they’d take away everything we love from it (e.g headcanons, ships, fanon culture in general), it would be awful. On top of that, it would dilute what the fandom produces due to the canonisation. Essentially, people would start considering it as canon and the whole essence of the fandom would be gone.

The Bowser/Luigi ship? Mostly motivated from a particular scene from the trailers, but it existed for a while. It's hard to explain because it does involve some lore that is too much to explain, but essentially a lot of people relate to Luigi because of his personality traits, and a lot of people like Bowser and thinks he deserves better than being a perpetual antagonist. as someone who has been a part of online shipping culture since i was 10 (where were my parents, honestly), but only moved from shipping the straights to shipping wlw couples when she came out at age 17, there are an abundance of wlw ships where the characters will just look at each other, and BAM, a 500k word ao3 fic that rivals the most talented of authors is there for you. i would like that to be studied, honestly, and also why everyone ships two men but no one ships two women
@dasiasaur Жыл бұрын
As someone who’s favorite movie is Pitch Perfect and has read most of the bechloe fanfics out there, my favorite wlw ship that is based off fanon is staubrey. Like it’s one of the biggest ships in the fandom but it’s based off of headcanons that Stacie, while hypersexual, is also insanely smart and grounding to Aubrey, who is made to seem crazy and over controlling in the films, but is just anxious and underloved. Like they rarely interact in the films but the fan interpretations of the characters are beautiful and in love. (Which don’t get me started on the wlw fan ship that barely interacts in the movie that I can’t get behind because I can’t get behind a problematic age gap✌🏼, it goes both ways, some fan ships are a little too unhinged for my tastes)
@supposedlymel Жыл бұрын
@@dasiasaur oof yeah problematic age gaps are not it. I love how people can see two women, think they'd be perfect together and create amazing fics for them, that's so cool
@dasiasaur Жыл бұрын
@@supposedlymel fully agreed, if you were wondering what the pairing I found slightly problematic was, it was a pair that’s interacted even less than Stacie and Aubrey and it’s because it’s Aubrey and Emily, otherwise known as the person who graduated right after the first movie and the person who was an incoming freshman during the start of the second movie, which is about 3-4 years later because it’s then Beca’s senior year. So like 7-8 year age gap where the dynamic makes sense because it’s sweet puppy love with the overanxious underloved type. So the character dynamics are compatible but I can’t get past the weird age difference

the way hearing about the Marauders fandom from the outside perspective made me question my sanity like C'MON we've not only made up full-fleshed characters from two lines in the source material, we've accepted FULLY made-up characters who are not in the source material at all, and we just... go on with it? like it's okay? this is insane but i love it.

As someone who was DEEP in the Les Mis fandom around 2015, this Enjolras x Grantaire rating hurts my heart. There is soooo much more to the ship beyond people finding Aaron Tveit attractive. I mean, people discussing the queer subtext of these characters is something that exists not only in fandom but in academic circles lol. Anyway, its just a very beautiful ship that has been expanded upon by the fandom in beautiful ways

Girl the fact that the overwhelming majority on this list are men just troubles me for some reason. We don't have nearly enough charismatic female characters to allow girls and young women to pour their heart into. Even in the fictional wold we are putting men on pedestals instead of looking after ourselves. But we don't have to.
@teresagreen-e Жыл бұрын
I read a paper one time that said the reason women love m/m ships so much is because the dynamic forces vulnerability from the male characters, which isn't fulfilled in real life hetero relationships because of toxic masculinity, and so women seek it out in other forms.

Hi just letting you know that Sebastian Moran does exist in canon work! (Sherlock Holmes, Mormor ship). He’s the right hand man of James Moriarty and a (ex) colonel who first started appearing in Doyle’s story in around 1903. Moriarty and Moran are partners, friends even, close friends. So it’s very easily seen and romantic rather than platonic
