"I can founder up in there like a dead carp laying in the sunshine" - when an animal "founders" it means they got sick from eating too much too fast, and then can't move, often bloating severely as a result. Similarly, a carp is a fish, so when a dead fish lays in the sun, they're likely to bloat and obviously be very still. Hence, Kent was saying he'd overeat and get sick because he likes the food so much. :) As a self-professed "recovering cowboy" I hope this translation helps. :)

As a southerner...I have inherited my grandmothers cast iron skillet that was HER grandmother's. Yet I prefer to use the hand hammered carbon steel wok I bought 10 years ago and have NEVER washed with soap. Of course the cast iron skillet makes the BEST bacon and fried chicken, but I love the wok for every other thing I need to stir fry. I use it almost daily. Also, msg was also my grandmothers "secret" ingredient... So I use it pretty much daily myself as well. It really is the king of flavor!

We have a saying in Australia if something appears real but isn't and that is, "It's a Claytons".
