I watched this in real life. With my own two eyes. It was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had. Literally bumped into Ralph Stanley after the show. I’ll never forget that night.

You're not going to find it in a church, my friend. Churches are commercial ventures. The fastest way to turn a 500 member church into a 50 member church is to start preaching truth from the pulpit, and the donation plate can't stand that. You can look at what happened to Jesus as proof of my point. I always say, if you start preaching the truth in church, and you refuse to shut up, the church will eventually drag you up a hill and nail you to a tree.

Patty Loveless is from my neck of the woods in eastern Kentucky. I love her powerful voice. Ricky Skaggs made a wise decision when he switched to bluegrass full time. That dark-haired fiddler singing harmony does great, as well. Well done, all!

For those who did not know---Patty Lovelace has now recorded two albums with songs that are more traditional/bluegrass---Mountain Soul Volumes I and II-----this song appeared on Volume I---this segment--along with Patty singing an awesome verson of "Pretty Polly" with Dr, Ralph Stanley that can be found elsewhere on KZbin--were recorded as I recall, at the original Ryman Auditorium in Nashville for a program recorded for PBS Television.
