So I want to give you feedback it’ll be a year of Super Gut coconut cream yogurt that I make. I make a batch twice a month so I have 2 to 3 teaspoons in the morning and 2 to 3 before bedtime. So I turned 69 in July and for the last three months I’ve noticed my skin on my arms. Looks so smooth like I’m 20 years old. I also been following the bulletproof Dave Asprey for two years. I started adding collagen powder to my bulletproof coffee every morning two scoops which is about 18 g of protein. I eat grass fed beef and I make my own bone broth also starting this year so I’m pretty sure the yogurt is what’s helping the skin cells I know the collagen helps in that too, but I’m pretty sure it’s been the Super Gut yogurt that’s changed everything. PS no mouthwash anymore

The microbiome is very interesting, but it's far from understood. For instance many of the things discussed here simply are not seen in the real world. He talks about needing fiber to make hydroxybutyrate for the acidity of the skin, but when you're in ketosis the main ketone body is beta-hydroxybutyrate; you have far higher level of this in your blood than you'll ever get from eating any amount of fiber. Also, he made sweeping assumptions and specific predictions about what happens on a carnivore diet when you don't eat fiber which are actually completely wrong. More and more people are coming out with their microbiome and they are not having a die off, they are having more diversity and healthier microbiomes with absolutely no fiber and only meat. Then he predicts that after a year or two people are going to start getting serious issues such as kidney stones etc and none of these things actually happen. Colitis, Crohn's, ulcerative colitis and many other serious GI issues people may have are getting complete resolution on biopsy by adopting a zero fiber carnivore diet. Additionally, he says that there's no evidence that a fiber free carnivore diet causes SIBO, but he expects that it does. Apparently has not looked at the literature on this because there are actually published case series of people curing their SIBO with a zero fiber carnivore diet specifically. There are thousands of people from Western societies that have been on long term fiber-free diets like the carnivore diet for a decade or even multiple decades without any of the deleterious health effects that he predicts that they would get. In fact they have cured all of those exact same ailments that he says are prevented by fiber. And that is to say nothing about all of the indigenous tribes such as the Inuit and the Maasai Who traditionally eat no fiber whatsoever, and have done so for thousands of generations without any deleterious health effects. So what he's saying is what he expects would happen due to his preconceived notions, but in fact it completely goes against the observed phenomena. A theory is only as good as what it is able to predict, and his predictions are not accurate. Lastly on this, he says that you can get calcium oxalate stones from not eating fiber. That's interesting, because when you eliminate fibrous plants you also eliminate the majority of oxalates as well, and it's high dietary oxalates from things such as spinach or sweet potato that cause 75% of kidney stones. That's in the medical literature. In fact, he hit the nail on the head when he said that All animals have pre-prescribed requirements in their diet, but he forgot that humans have been Apex predators, by definition carnivores, for over 2 million year. Humans and our ancestors have been living in the Arctic Circle now and in the ice ages when there are absolutely no fibrous plants, or any plants at all, for millions of years. The Inuit now living in the North Pole region who cannot eat fiber at any point during the year on their traditional diet have actually been tested for their microbiome and it's exemplary, with amazing diversity and all of the appropriate species that you would see in an optimal microbiome. Humans cross the land bridge by foot from Asia to North America during the last ice age, which was 1500 mi north of what is now Seattle, and when Seattle was under a mile high block of ice. We did not start eating fibrous plants to any great degree until very recently. How do we know? Because the gene coding for amylase production, the breakdown of starch from plants, only hit the gene pool around 10,000 years ago with the agricultural Revolution. You can't look at what people eat now for an example of what we are biologically designed to eat, you have to look at what we're eating 50,000 years ago, 200,000 years ago, 1 million or even 2 million years ago as we were evolving into our current form. Humans have been apex predators for over 2 million years and alive and thriving in the Arctic Circle during the Ice Ages the entire time. In fact Homo Habilis went up north into the ice as the ice shelves were coming down; they didn't run away towards the equator. This was a very interesting discussion, but speaking so matter of factly about something that is demonstrably wrong just through simple observation makes me wonder what else he is speaking about with authority that he shouldn't be.

I know for sure that I do have that issue. I have only watched a handful of videos with this doctor, but haven't heard him mention that. Maybe the motility issue is caused by SIBO ?🤷♀️

Thank you Dr Morgan, you are asking the questions that I am asking too like Oxalates, carnivore diet and ha ha sourdough bread that we can't just give up 😂😂😂 Life is tough for foodies like us having to go through withdrawals not just for gluten foods and then you find the healthy and non gluten foods are high in Oxalates. We need our cakes and now even almond flour won't do! 😅😅

Somebody please explain the starter yoga to me once we make a batch and we use a tablespoon or two to make the second batch. Do we keep taking a tablespoon or two out of each batch going forward or do we have to start over each time? I’m a little confused on that part.

Yes. It's that simple. Once you have fermented a batch of the yogurt, then you start the next batch from a little of that and eat the rest - and so on.

So many questions that go unanswered on important subjects like this, but I understand they can't be answering hundreds of them. I just wonder the impact of barley in beer and the gut microbiome health. I feel great when I drink beer, especially IPAs (very bitter ones).
@Taodnt23 күн бұрын
I can only tell you my experience. I love (loved more appropriate now ) IPA's. In science experiments you should change one variable at a time. But I was in a hurry so I quit drinking and went carnivore 19 months ago at the same time. A chronic bronchitis that developed around 2000 went away after 3 weeks. Was it the lack of carbohydrates only? I don't know. I do know that I'd rather not wake up in the middle of the night and cough for two hours than enjoy an IPA. I have recently discovered Dr. Davis (via Dr. Berg) and am about to try the l. reuteri et al program. I'll give it a month and then maybe try an IPA or two to see what happens. Maybe not. I have never felt better, so why risk eating/drinking something that makes one feel worse. For those keeping score at home I started at 71 1/2

Dr. Davis speaks about three microbes he grows in a yoghurt, L. Reuteri, L. Gasseri, and Bacillus coagulans. Is it ok to add all three together when making the yoghurt?
@CCteamBlue2 ай бұрын
Following.
@christinarae99542 ай бұрын
L. Reuteri needs to ferment longer, 36 hours, so I am not sure you can make them together, but I don't know. I make LR all the time. It's a game changer.
@ggfarmgirl83502 ай бұрын
He has a recipe for all three in his book. Basically, yes, you can grow all three in the half n half/inulin mixture. It “ferments” for 36 hours at around 106 degrees…just hot enough to make the two bacteria happy and grow but not too hot to kill the l. Reuteri. Supposed to be good for SIBO. You could also ferment the l.reuteri seperately from the other two at the lower temperature of around 99-100. Then, after they are finished and cooled mix together or just mix together when you consume them.

I started the L Reuteri yogurt a week ago since that's the first detail about this I heard of. I also bought Super Gut, read first half, and ordered the Aire device. At 19 minutes Dr Davis says I'd have to stop L Reuteri for 2 weeks before using the Aire device? Uh oh... really? This makes me concerned since I'm really liking this yogurt, can already feel the effects, and really don't like the idea of stopping it for 2 weeks.

It’s actually the wheat and what they HAVEN’T done to it. America’s wheat is frankenwheat; major GMO to produce more and has substantially higher gluten. Plus sprayed with tons of glyphosate (round up) Very bad for consumption.

In the UK around the time of the 2nd WW they started breeding (not the same as GMO) wheat so that it would be shorter & stronger to stand up to our weather so we could feed more people with limited agricultural land. The result of this is that the wheat has more gluten in it. Both my husband & I find that we can’t eat gluten containing products in the UK, but if we go to France, for example, the bread etc does not cause the same gut issues.

Although IVM is used to treat helminth infections, there have been reports that it can also function as an antimicrobial agent [34,35]. To first determine if IVM exhibited antimicrobial activity in the context of the gut microbiota, flow cytometry was performed to measure the proportion of dead to live bacterial cells, before, during, and after IVM addition (Figure 1). Immediately after addition, there was a large jump in cell mortality in the proximal colon communities, but less in the distal colon communities, for all three nutritional formulations tested (control, ISF, and SF). This observation was logical as IVM was added directly only to the proximal colon, and the distal communities only received IVM indirectly, as the fluid within the proximal colon was transferred to the distal colon region during feeding. Cell numbers stabilized after this initial addition and, in some cases, even started to recover. Notably, the proportion of dead bacterial cells measured in the cultures provided SF nutrition was much less than in ISF, and losses in both SF and ISF were less than in the control communities. Figure 1. Figure 1
