Because people think the person they’re watching HAS to be the greatest, unfortunately. Idk how you can possibly watch Mike and Lebron and go off eye test and come to the conclusion Lebron is better. Mike is better at every aspect of basketball, except maybe passing and that’s a maybe. Lebrons passing being thrust into the Magic Johnson tier has to be one of the biggest loads of crap I’ve ever seen.

Exactly you noticed all the clutch sports associates change the reason they have him being the goat as time goes on. You remember back in 2016 through 2018 it was him winning the championship with Cleveland on why he was the goat. OK he took two of the other best players in the league made another big three in Cleveland and beat a Warriors team that wasn’t at full strength. I’m sorry but adding that to the All-Star team he had in Miami, which if you look at that lineup, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen , Chris Bosh…. yeah that’s basically the Eastern conference All-Star team, so no those championships, especially in the Eastern conference when there was no competition for them at all. What were the Knicks or the Charlotte Hornets really going to stop them? no so his championships all have Asterix next to them and longevity is the only unique thing about him but look how much this dude sits out.

What's the point of longevity if you accomplish LESS in more time? Championships, MVPs, FMVPs, DPOY, etc. "best ability is availability" makes it seem like MJ, Kareem, Wilt, etc., had the longevity of hamsters. Here are the facts (looking at MJ specifically, but applies to all former greats): 1. Played in a more physical era. 2. Played more full or nearly full 82-game seasons; played before the load management era. 3. Had less advanced medicine, equipment, and dieticians.

We don't even have to rebuild much. The current team is solid. They replace Lebron with a decent scorer who also knows how to defend adequately and they are a good team. Especially when it is a REAL SF and not someone who demands to also play PG, which we have a good one, who also shows that when he can play to his role... Lebron demands 40+ millions in cap space, that gives you a good replacement at similar level or two guys who are less good invdividually but maybe young and talented, and ready to fit in with a group. I would not be worried to go into the season with AD, Russel and Reaves as our main guys, with a group similar to the one we got now, plus a third guy who the Lakers could choose from free agency pool with roughly 40 million to throw at them.

Longevity skews John Stockton too... I watched him regularly get COOKED by all the top 80s/90s PGs! In his two "best seasons" he finished MVP vote as 9th overall(89-90), 8th overall (94-95), and never cracked top 10 player in the league in his 17 other seasons ...but now people (looking at his longevity and accumulated stats) try and call him top PG ALL TIME??? Yeah, yeah, he racked up career assists running repeated pick'n'rolls with Karl Malone 70-80 times a night, for 19 years. Cool. Cheryl Miller could avg 11 assists doing that. And in his 19 full seasons, how many times did he score 30+ points? 11 times - total 🤔.That's because he averaged only 4.7 made FGs for career, (tying him at #482 all time with Rudy Gobert's career 4.7 fgm/gm🤔). NEVER WON ANYTHING because he wasn't that guy. Couldn't carry a team. But that longevity tho.

If we are going to discuss longevity stats, you must put these stats in the context of the total # of 82 game seasons played. Mike had 9 out of his 15 seasons. Bron has played 1- 82 game season. Kareem played 5 - 82 game seasons. Wilt 9, Kobe 4. The best ability is availability.

Peak > longevity Sheed must be high. Then who’s the GOAT, Sheed? Kobe? His placements will be even worse than LeBron’s. And the Pistons punked the Lakers in 2004. In 2000, the Blazers did gag but the Lakers received 20+ more FTs in that Game 7. Lakers are one of the most FRAUDULENT dynasties during the last 40 years especially those five they won in the 2000s. Kobe won two legit rings in my eyes (2001, 2009). Shaq only won one (2001). The 2006 Finals was also fixed. Here’s the 1988 Pistons getting screwed. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpyconqLiKylf7csi=m5efCweB0pDbINIj Here’s the refs trying to help the 2013 Lakers make the playoffs… kzbin.info/www/bejne/a37Lnnqvj5x-fJIsi=YphJji6O8xcxq2cI Then go check the 2000 WCF G7, 2002 WCF G6, and 2010 Finals G7 to see more screwing to help the Lakers win the game. Add their hollow bubble championship and IST banner, so LeBron can look more “accomplished” as a Faker. Remember when Tatum fouled LeBron last year and no call? LeBron looked like he was ready to cry. Lakers had the highest disparity with free throws after that happened. And it continues this season. Refs blew a whistle on Steph so LeBron can seal the game with FTs two Saturdays ago. So rigged. F the Lakers. Sick of them! Sick of the league always trying to help them and LeBron. Congrats to Kobe for getting his statue tomorrow but I don’t root for the Lakers because their success stories are extremely lucky and fraudulent. It’s easy to win all those championships if you have all those superstars playing for you and you’re based in LA. They eventually got bad karma although Kobe’s death was to the extreme. We’ll never really know if Kobe raped Kate Faber or if he was a little too aggressive to her when it happened and then paid her hush money right after because it was settled out of court. Magic got his HIV and learned his lesson with the women he was having sex with from town to town. Wilt, Mikan, Kobe, and Elgin have all passed on. Same with Chick and Jerry Buss. Long gone. I think in 20 years, the Lakers will no longer be owned by the Buss fam. Jeanie never had kids, so if she dies, she has no offspring to pass the team to. A Kobe doc would be a sore topic because we know how he died and then his rape trial and being estranged from his parents after marrying Vanessa. Was Michael Jordan a bit manufactured as a superstar? Sure, he was. Watch Air or The Last Dance. Nike wanted to promote him like a superhero who can fly with his shoes. And if you bought his shoes, you could fly like him too. And yes, he did get the ref biases too. But MJ was also a legitimate legend. It’s not all marketing with him on how he became a success story. The Lakers and LeBron are more fraudulent than how MJ was marketed. The Lakers and LeBron needs so much help and rigging by the refs to win championships. How could I ever root for a franchise like that? I’m with Jimmy Goldstein and I’m like, F the Lakers! The Lakers are a byproduct from rich, liberal, leftist assholes. The way the NBA can make the most money is to help the Lakers win it all year after year to please their Hollywood celebrity fans. Now let them start wearing their BLM shirts again. What made me not respect the all time scoring record is not one LeBron fan said the scoring record made Kareem the GOAT prior to LeBron passing him. Had they said that, had they said Karl Malone should be in GOAT conversations and John Stockton because of his assists and steals records, then I could understand. But none of the LeBron fans give these players respect. So if Kareem wasn't the goat before LeBron, don't use the record to cement LeBron. Remember Jordan didn't need that record to be the GOAT. Longevity doesn't means LeBron is better, just means he played longer and accumulated more stats because of it.

average stats > total stats. this is how you see if a player is good or not. It is that simple. If someone is fortunate enough to play 20+ seasons thats great for them, but if you compare someone playing 10 seasons to someone playing 20 seasons, the only fair comparison is using averages and accolades. A dude who played 20 seasons scoring 10ppg will look better in total points scored than a guy playing 10 seasons averaging 15ppg. Yet we all know who the better offensive player of the two is and who would demand the bigger contract from teams... And this is JUST the stats part. There are also other intangibles we often ignore, but I don't want to turn this into a sports novel.

Kawhi Leonard has become my 2nd favorite player of all-time. He’s my Clippers’ Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. If I rooted for the Lakers, Kobe would be my 2nd favorite but he would never be over Mike. I like the fact that while Kawhi Leonard was injured a lot during his first four seasons with us, he chose the Clippers over the Lakers. And he extended his contract another three years while taking a discount. He’s committed at retiring a Clipper. I know Kawhi wasn’t homegrown by the Clippers. Drafted by the Pacers but traded to San Antonio and then traded to Toronto. But I feel he’s my franchise’s savior. He’s Michael Jordan back in 1984 turning the Cows into the Bulls. There’s this false narrative by liars like Chris Broussard and Stephen A. Smith that Kawhi was going to sign with the Lakers. This was never the case. He never was going there. He’s already signed two extensions with the Clippers. Lakers media coming up with LIES because they got REJECTED by an LA homegrown superstar because he chose the Clippers over them. If Kawhi wanted the Lakers, he would’ve signed with them in 2019 or in 2021. But he didn’t and was secretly recruiting Paul George that first week in July of 2019. What’s ironic is when Kawhi chose the Clippers, people were saying he’s the anti KD. The anti superteam. He was known more as a superteam killer. But since we got Russ and James, you can consider he’s now part of a superteam. I don’t want to get my hopes completely up. We got Pelicans tonight. We struggle against them. We did blow them out in our last meeting. If we lose, well, we only enjoyed being the No. 1 seed for a day. Stay ready. Don’t get ready. Every five years? 2014 🏆 2019 🏆 2024 🏆? Clippers vs. Lakers playoffs showdown. That’s the Finals. Adam’s refs will do whatever it takes for the Lakers to win because it’s a Kobe24 year. Clippers will be screwed like the 2002 Sacramento Kings. What makes you think I also wagered on the Lakers and I hate these overly dramatic assholes. Scripted for them to win like their IST banner.

Longevity is one aspect of many. Kareem would really have the best case as best ever if you take in his college years, but no one would argue that Kareem was better than Jordan and both of them won more than LeBron. If Kareem would have left for the NBA after high school, he’d have the most points. Kareem was a winner who passed the baton to Magic when he got older and filled a big role for 6-7 of his last years.

My Top 10 Favorite NBA Players Ever 1. Michael Jordan 2. Kawhi Leonard 3. Dwyane Wade 4. Penny Hardaway 5. Larry Bird 6. Lou Williams 7. Paul George 8. Charles Barkley 9. Shaquille O’Neal 10. Dennis Rodman I have bobbleheads for MJ, Penny, Kawhi, PG, and Lou. I still haven’t found one I really like for DWade and Larry Legend. But I’m content with the 5 I already have. I might give away the Lou one though. For a time, LeBron was my 2nd favorite player of all-time. He was my favorite current player for a good 10 years. I was Team LeBron over Team Kobe from 2003-2013. People forget how hated Kobe was during his prime. Iverson was more popular than him. And Kobe was very standoff-ish with the media until he got to his 30s and became a better leader and better person overall. If Kobe was never a Laker or let’s say he did sign with the Clippers in 2004 and he won us a chip or even came close to it, he would be my 2nd favorite player of all-time. Yeah, he’s kinda a Xerox copy of late 90s MJ with his fadeaway and footwork. But I would’ve loved him almost as much as the 90s original. Congrats on his statue tomorrow. He died 4 years ago and retired 8 years ago, so it’s loooooong overdue. MJ already got a statue of him by 1994 or years before he had another threepeat. Paul George ranking 7th is still on shaky ground. He can easily fall out of my top 10. There are times when he frustrates me to no end. His game is so silky smooth and he’s so skilled/talented, but then he’s capable of disappointing you in the playoffs with bad efficiency and awful turnovers. And I never forgot him gagging both free throws against Phoenix. Kawhi’s game isn’t prettier than Paul’s, but he’s won rings, he’s efficient, and he’s a proven playoff performer. I used to have Tracy McGrady in my top 10 but I figure I’ll replace him with Paul George since they’re similar in height and share the same skillset. But the difference between them and MJ/Kobe, is they lack the alpha to be a leader. Hence, why T-Mac couldn’t get out of the First Round for years. T-Mac/PG-13 are very skilled players who are underachievers in the playoffs that MJ and Kobe were not. T-Mac/PG-13 are taller versions of MJ/Kobe but who have never lived up to their potential and weren’t mentally as tough. I know Shaq was a Laker and his best years were with them but I have Shaq ranked 9th mainly for his Orlando days and a little of his Miami days. He’s responsible giving Paul Pierce and DWade their nicknames. In 1992, I was getting into basketball cards collecting and getting rookie cards of Shaq was all the rage. I even got the blue azure Shaq Attaq 1s after giving my Jordan 7 Bordeaux to my uncle. And I personally enjoyed Blue Chips (1994) with him and Penny. Shaq is the one I would love to hang out with. Lou Williams was also a former Laker but his best days were with the Clippers. If you ask him, Lakers or Clippers, he always picks Clippers. I remember back in 2017 when we were introducing our new players, Lou did not look happy. He said he got tired getting traded and wanted to retire. But those 3.5 years he had with us were some of my most fun times being a Clippers fan. Sweet Lou had a super smooth game. He understood the underdog mentality that our fanbase had. Much love to the Underground GOAT. Kawhi Leonard doesn’t have the prettiest game. He’s not as athletic or as smooth as Dr. J, MJ, Kobe, or DWade. He actually reminds me of Wizards MJ. Slower but bigger who couldn’t jump as high as before. Kawhi even in 2014 was never that athletic or smooth. But Kawhi takes the blueprints of 2nd threepeat MJ that taught Kobe and uses it. If you think about it, my Clippers never had a player in Kawhi’s calibur. CP3 and Blake were never it. Michael Jordan will always be my No. 1. I’m a Xennial (1977-1983). Most of us were programmed to be MJ fans. And it could be for Jackson, Jordan, or both. Seeing Michael Jordan is like seeing a mythical creature. It’s like, he does exist! It’s like seeing Santa Claus. Listen to what Charissa Thompson (born in 1982) had to say about His Airness and how she never wants to meet her heroes…. Notable television host, sportscaster, and host of Prime’s Thursday Night Football, Charissa Thompson, has recently revealed her soaring admiration for Michael Jordan in “Games With Names” podcast. During the podcast, she also revealed that she is such a big admirer of the six-time NBA Champion and NBA legend, “His Airness” that she refused to interview him and never wanted the personality of the icon changed in her mind. According to Fadeaway World, she shared regarding Jordan, “One is Michael Jordan and I refuse to ever meet him. I don’t want to know if he has bad breath, if he is mean to me, I can’t. I need to put him on the shelf and always have him be my favorite.” Thompson also revealed that when she got a chance to interview him, she did not move forward with that interview. She states, “The first opportunity I ever had to interview him, his son Jeffrey was playing for Illinois and we’re in Indianapolis. They were like, ‘You need you to go up to the suite and interview Michael Jordan.’ And I was like, ‘I can’t do it.’ Larry Bird was with him too and I was like, ‘I can’t do it.’ And they’re like, ‘What do you mean you can’t do it?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t want to meet him.’ I just love him so much.” Thompson also reminisced about her earlier days and how she used to have a lookout for the icon when she found out that he was in his camp. She continued further, “He would host a basketball camp and my guy friends that worked the valet there would call me when the black Range Rover pulled up. I was like, ‘Oh my god he’s there.’ And I would look around in the bushes like a psycho, just wanting to catch a glimpse of Michael Jordan.” Thompson is still following in her footsteps by keeping her distance and preserving her perception, which is idealized when considering one of the biggest stars of basketball. Dwyane Wade (another Xennial) and Chicago native talking about Michael Jordan….. “There was a moment when Jordan came in, and that's the reason I played basketball. We're in a hallway, the guards, we're talking before we go out, and Mike creeps in. And Mike gave me some love, and every time, I don't care. I was with the Jordan Brand, I had some moments, this is Mike. So Mike came in and gave me love, then he went right to the old dog, he went right to Magic, the clip that went viral, and if you see my face, that was the moment that I realized I was in basketball heaven. Like, my basketball lifespan had ended and I ended up in basketball heaven. To just be there, to be able to experience -- Hall of Fame is great, jersey retirement is great. For me, as a kid, I didn't have my family there. I didn't want my family there. That was individually my moment. As a young kid growing up, wanted to be one of the greatest to play the game, and I got the chance to put on that jacket and be next to my favorite player, the greatest to ever play."

Larry B was a beast. Even Jordan respected him and when you consider his spinal issues and how he would tell his opponents exactly what he would do, one can only imagine how amazing he could have been in good health and if he kept his mouth shut

You raised a good point. LeBron is constantly being compared to other guys in season 21, but not other guys at age 38 or 39. Could it be because his stats wouldn’t look as impressive then? Because Kareem was still putting up solid numbers at that age? That might be.

This was excellent! I would love to see KZbinrs debate against some of these analyst, because this was award-winning right here. Winning matters, eras matter, What your peers think of you matters. Iconic moments matter. Style points matter, defense matters. Team hopping for a chance to win matter but going back home to Cleveland and bringing them a championship matters a lot. But even during that championship run, LeBron was not the one taking the iconic shot. It was Kyrie Irving. we remember Lebron James going against Kobe Bryant and the All-Star game and Kobe clapping his hands ready for the challenge and LeBron passed the ball. Basketball fans remember that. And that was soft my opinion. We want to see the best against the best you can’t say you’re the best and you don’t wanna get tested against the best. That’s why we love Kobe when Kobe had a chance to go against Mike he couldn’t wait he didn’t pass the ball the same way we love Allen Iverson because when he got a chance to go against Mike, crossed him. And we as fans love that. Kareem is really the best to ever do it at any level essentially when it comes to winning. Jordan was the best when it came to everything else. Lebron’s record is nice but Karl Malone did it and didn’t have to come in straight from high school to do it. if LeBron don’t win another championship, we gonna remember his record as one of empty stats. The 3 tier of longevity was a brilliant take on the current situation. At this point if you’re not doing it for winning you’re doing it for stat padding. Which is iight but winning is and always will be the pinnacle of sport.

Went to the NBA stat site and ran numbers (Stats as of Feb 25th, 2024). Jordan's career regular season points per minute is 0.787 (32292/41010). LeBron's is 0.715 (39898/55837). Jordan's career regular season points per game is 30.12 (32292/1072). LeBron's is 27.12 (39898/1471). Jordan's playoff points per minute is 0.801 (5987/7474). LeBron's is 0.688 (8023/11654). Jordan's playoff points per game is 33.45 (7474/179). LeBron's is 28.45 (11654/282). This is why I don't care about LeBron's all-time scoring leader stat, or longevity stats overall. Factoring out the fact that the game has shifted wildly since Jordan played and scoring has gone up by about 15%, (95-96 season league average points per game was 99.5 whereas the 22-23 season had an average of 114.7) Jordan still had a better points per minute and points per game in both the regular season and in the playoffs by about 10%. Also, LeBron's points per minute dropped in the playoffs compared to the regular season, whereas Jordan's increased. This also doesn't factor in things like the advancements in sports medicine, fitness training and things of that nature that increase longevity that Jordan didn't have access to. (Example: ACL tears were far more likely to end a career in the 90's than they are today.) As the game keeps getting hiring scoring and as players keep playing longer and longer, all LeBron's career stats will be broken, and possibly by inferior players. If someone averages 20 PPG for 25 years, at 82 games a season, they'll have 41,000 points. Does that mean they're better than Lebron? And 25 years might sound crazy, but if they started at 19, they'll only be 44. LeBron is 39 now. Brady was 45 when he retired from the NFL. Not so crazy sounding to me. For those who think I am a LeBron hater, you're right. And this is why. I've seen LeBron not go up for jump balls, play lazy because of... reasons... and absolutely quit on his team in the playoffs. His last year with Cleveland, before he went to Miami, he quit on his team in the playoffs. I watched it. I saw it with my own eyes. I've confronted a lot of LeBron fans about that, and they reluctantly agree with me. Now, maybe my definition of GOAT is different than others, but the Greatest Of All Time does not quit on his team. Especially not in the playoffs. Jordan never quit. Kobe never quit. Bird never quit. Not even Horry quit on his team in the playoffs. At least not that I ever heard or saw. That's why I think that LeBron should not even be in the conversation of GOAT. Period. Lebron is an amazing athletic talent, but his is not a GOAT. He could've been. He should've been. But he was too busy chasing stats and rings than chasing greatness. Jordan chased greatness. LeBron chases Jordan.

With the exception of the 2017-2018 season, LBJ has never played in all 82 games. In the last 5 NBA seasons, he's played an average of 55 games a year! It seems to me that with the taking rest on defense, and missing an average of 27 games a year, longevity is easier to achieve! In his last 5 years, that's roughly 135 games missed. MJ played all 82 games in 9 of 15 seasons, including his last season, on a leg that was not great. Did I mention MJ would play all 82 games and then play all of the playoff games? It's kind of like having a car that you drive a couple of times a year, and that car would last for a very long time.
