This is a new game and a unique game (meaning that no other game in the database has exactly the same moves from beginning to end), but this particular game is not completely new. Because there are a limited number of openings and an even more limited number of openings that a master would play, all of them have been played, so virtually every game will be unique but no game will be completely new.

Yes. Assume no chess game has been played ever with the exception of a game with e4 e5 d4 d5 This means that a above position exists in the database. Then a game with d4 d5 e4 e5 happens which is new as d4 on move one was never played but it transposed back to the first game

I think he has to get 111...plus he even "removed" 2 games from his streak since they were against weaker opponents by a substantial margin.

@@lightningprowess6031 I've never claimed that I can reach 1800, what are you on about? And why do you care? If white plays qe3 check, I missed that black doesn't have to take the queen. He just simply moves the king. I understand that white shouldn't take the black queen to undouble the pawns, but he can go for the pawn on the queen side. In this case, I would say its a draw. Edit: I checked with an engine and its still a draw if white plays qe3 check and then takes the black queen next move. Its completely equal then. Of course its completely winning for white if black decides to trade queens after qe3. So it seems that you are wrong, my GM friend...

This is a perfect example on what needs to change in chess. Limit the number of checks in a row, for example 5 or move checks in a row, you lose. Need to man up the game of chess, so annoying when your opponent(usually losing), chain checks until you fall a sleep and make a mistake.

Re7 protecting both the mate and yes it looks like its hanging the bishop but after white takes the bishop with check (Rxf8+) king to g7 attacking both knight and rook. Can go different ways after that, for example white can go Nd5 giving up rook and knight for the black rook and winning easy with all his pawns against black single a pawn + double h pawn. But there is a defend against both threat.

I think Magnus won't capture the queen but move the king closer to the two pawns and if white captures the queen then black's pawns will undouble. I think Levon thought it would be too risky or it wouldn't make a difference because after both players bring a queen into the game then it would be the same.

In FIDE tournaments Rapid means 15mins + 10seconds per move while Blitz is 3mins + 2seconds. More casually you might see Rapid and Blitz used to describe games with more starting minutes than the FIDE settings (I've seen Rapid as 20min or less and Blitz as 10 or less) but with no add-on per move (called an increment) because not everyone owns the fancy electronic clocks that can add the seconds per move.

Maybe, but you don't ever need to win a game to raise your rating. All you need to do is tie people who are higher rated than you. I think you can become the highest rated player in the world just using this approach. How? You just work your way up to position #2 by tying the world champion often enough, then let the champ lose to the number 3 player a few times and you will be number one.

It is not a technical draw if it's a three fold repetition, it's a technical draw if it's a five fold repetition. After three, the player on the move can claim a draw, he doesn't have to.
