Please don’t change your format! I find your channel the best on KZbin for chess. These are very helpful.

Thank you so much! It really motivates not to give up :) Could you please explain what exactly you mean with a format?

@ format, meaning presentation, I like how you explain your ideas with no pontificating. You have a certain professionalism that I’d respect and it’s easier to follow. You have a knack for teaching chess which I enjoy very much. You also keep a little humour too, not too much just enough. I hope this gives you a little insight of what I meant.

Excellent advice! I have been testing myself against a 1500 rated engine and have struggled to get a single win in over 20 games. Following this advice I just systematically crushed it. Many thanks.

Thanks a lot for this nice analysis! Yeah a really chaotic game 😅 My struggle is to have any idea for plans and dont understand how to create a good plan. I believe its because I dont have a really good understanding for the game. I hope it will come soon 😊

I suspected White to pawn storm : H4 then G3 etc. Maybe a wrong idea, but food for thought.

Very useful video! Showed a lot of bad moves that are common at my level and explained why they shouldn't be played! Hopefully you will make more videos like this!

Another move that players at our level would be wary of, based on various pieces of advice we've heard, is the Nbd2 move. If this knight's job is to protect f3, then it may not be able to move for some time, meaning that the only way to activate the dark-square bishop is to fianchetto it -- and that may be problematic considering that Black's pawns may be attacking our queenside. I don't think it's fair to say that we lower-rated players always ignore opening principles, more that we don't know how to apply them appropriately. You propose a solution a couple of moves later, but seeing that far ahead is not always easy! It's also worth noting that that solution involves moving the knight multiple times, which we're programmed to think is wrong.

Just one thing to be clear about a black move, on 26th minute of the video when black moved the queen to 8th rank which is a mistake, black could've played bishop to e2. Because if rook takes bishop, then the other rook will be gone, therefore if rook moves anywhere, you can can simply capture the knight and also double up the pawn because if queen takes then you'll exchange the queen and win the game. So was it a better move than rook to e8?

It seemed to me that Jessica's move c3 was intended to support the d4-pawn, relieving the e3-pawn of its support duty and allowing her to play e4 soon (perhaps after Re1). In that sense, the move is perfectly compatible with opening principles, at least as understood by sub-1500 players. Of course, I wouldn't presume to challenge your conclusion that it's a bad move, but I think your diagnosis of her (and other players' at her level) thought process might be mistaken in this case.

Thanks for the feedback. Of course, I can't completely go inside of the player's mind so I interpret it from my perspective. Thanks to you I know now a little bit more of how people at this level think :)

What is the average time a player takes to improve at chess, i mean how many months it require to get to 2000 from 1500
@journeytograndmaster4 күн бұрын
It's hard to get a general answer. It depends on so many different factors. I think around a year of consistent practice. But it's very approximate

I had a thought about time management around the Qd2 response to b3, it looks like she got down to her last minute against blacks 3 minutes and nerves took over, just wanted to move the queen to a safer square, she kept herself above that last minute though, going for active looking moves and made her opponent use all his time. Did she win on time?
