Thanks for the update. I think you’ll be happy with a performance cat. Regarding your earlier video, sailing full speed 6000+ miles to a hard deadline isn’t typical cruising. We sailed to Mallorca yesterday upwind for 120 miles on our Outremer 45 no problem. On many cats we would have had to motor. Love the boat! I can mostly single hand it when my wife is sleeping. And it’s easy enough to take an extra reef if you want to slow down and relax.
@TheOKellys6 ай бұрын
What sort of winds and seas did you see on your 120 mile upwind trip?
@johnward87556 ай бұрын
@@TheOKellys we started close hauled in light wind at TWA 50. As the wind and seas built we gradually fell off to TWA 60 and took two reefs. We kept close to the wind nearly the entire way. The weight distribution and narrow bows help keep the ride smoother upwind. Some other cats I’ve sailed hobby horse badly due to excessive weight in the bows or slow way down due to big windage, or slide sideways instead of moving forward, or get a lot of bridgedeck slamming. We love that our Outremer lets us sail more and motor less.

The problem with aluminium cats on market, is that so little of them being made. And even less made professionaly with right alloy that have 6% of magnesium. And among those tiny numbers of good Al-Mg catamarans there is no real choise. I wonder why modern manufacturers avoid Al-Mg catamarans and we don't see new start-ups. Because demand on catamarans is so big now, yet we don't see new brands now.

Another great video, very helpful with where I am at in my life too. I too feel like if I go back to living in a house (I live in my truck camper, mostly camping in nature), I'd get to that place where I've done everything and am ready to go elsewhere. But with that, how do you see it in 10, 20 or 30 years ? It's hard to picture it into old age. For aluminum, my camper has an aluminum roof and one issue is that it accumulates sun heat and by evening, the entire structure heats up so much that it stays warm through the night. So I am curious to see how Delos solve that, if they put a special paint to reflect sunheat.

And then in this video Megan mentioned “we are 50, we have time.” If biking across Europe is really a thing you both want to do, it’s something you should do when you are still young enough to do it somewhat comfortably.
