Damn, Carrie Fisher was such a knockout. Just gorgeous. Between this and The Man With One Red Shoe, it's mind-boggling and infuriating that anybody in Hollywood ever gave her any s--t about her weight. Any thinner, and she would've looked ill. It's sad that she didn't get more parts. I loved her in The Burbs, too. She and Hanks played well off each other. Good Chemistry, and talent. She should've gotten more roles over the years.

I watched this movie once. Sat through it grimly stone-faced all the way through. Laughed one time, when Pat McCormick steps into the elevator and bellows out, “BALLROOM!” It was such a spontaneous belly laugh that it wiped out all the rest and I’ve always had fond memories of it for that reason. Some far superior comedies, even ones rightly considered classics, get lots of laughs but somehow don’t manage to get a laugh that good so I guess that’s something.

An unfortunate result of this movie perpetuating the 'rowdy little people' stereotype is that when Return of the Jedi was in production and they hired the little people who played the ewoks, they had them supervised and put in a different hotel that was farther away from the set. In the end that extra travel time back and forth ended up costing Lucasfilm a lot more money in the long run and the little people actors were absolutely professional their whole time working on the film. So they really didn't need the extra supervision.

Boy did I miss a lot of the issues when I was little. I wasn’t able to watch it anymore after seeing how badly it aged. Among other things I recall The subplot of the duke and duchess many, many dogs because they keep dying was so hard to watch. But I am not sure what the appeal was as a kid, but it had a lasting impression 😂. No one else I know has ever heard of this flick, so thank you for showcasing it so I can prove it exists. 😂

I saw the tail end of this film on TV, around 1995. It took me years to find what film it was, as all I remembered was the giant chase scene and Carrie Fisher getting her clothes cut off with the sword (I was only 5, so I didn't fully realize it was Carrie Fisher). I've been dying to rewatch it as an adult

This movie came out when I was 10. It was on cable constantly, so my sister and I watched it many times. I can remember loving it and thinking it was so brilliantly funny, always quoting it with my friends at school. Then, a year or so ago, i saw it on streaming for five bucks, and snapped it up, thinking I'd relive that childhood magic. Hoo boy, that 0% RT rating is well deserved.

I honestly have a theory that, in the Communityverse, this movie was written and directed by and stars Pierce and he was so ashamed of its failure he never brings it up to the study group; some of them have never heard of this movie while others, like Jeff and Abed, have seen it but they just don't bother to bring it up

This is definitely one of those movies which deserve a remake. Doing a comedy about the making of the Wizard of Oz from the Munchkin actors' perspectives could absolutely work, and you wouldn't even need to add Three Stooges hijinks to make the story interesting. Apparently the Munchkin sequence itself was one of the last sequences filmed because of how massive a task it was to design all of the Munchkins' costumes (there were over 100 little person actors for the whole sequence), so the remake would have a good excuse for keeping the Munchkin actors around the set during most of the movie's production.

While Disney is ultimately to blame for not casting dwarf actors, don't let Peter Dinklage escape culpability. He publicly pulled up the ladder behind him which led Disney (and others) to no longer offer roles for people like them all in the name of "sensitivity" or whatever excuse it was.

I appreciate that burn towards Disney surrounding the controversy about not wanting to hire little people to be the dwarves, but Peter Dinklage deserves the burn too since he was the one who complained to the studio.

It's wonderful to have some of the studio's have these archives finally opening with made to order DVDs. 20th century Fox had some releases of the Cisco Kid series in their classic archive collection that I bought up as soon as I could. I would love to see the 1994 TV movie version of the Cisco Kid show up in a video someday.

Yeah Forgotten Failure makes way more sense than Almost Cult Classic. I already think he stretches ACC enough with movies he liked growing up but this movie fits so perfectly as a FF since it's a largely forgotten movie that failed.
