This episode is the most authentic and genuine out of all as it reveals a bad staff cause it’s not the CEO in the field so they talk freely. Other episodes, the disguise is bad and the uncanny resemblance would have them on their best behaviour. I notice all the episodes where the CEO sent someone on their behalf, you see more of the truth in the staff’s behaviours. That’s what all CEO should do: send someone instead of doing it themselves. Like how the manager didn’t know his bad behaviour as he doesn’t do that in front of those in charge.

if they don't want minimum wage then they should either get qualifications for something better or they should work their way up through experience, not bitch about customers. It's up to you to push ahead and earn more money. No one is going to pay to big bucks to do basic tasks. He does have a strong case on multiple fronts. He can sue the production company for defamation of character, because of this show, no employer will hire him - fairly or unfairly, leaving him dependent on unemployment welfare for no good reason. But he can also sue Boston Market for improper termination - specifically, the Chief Brand Officer is technically not his boss. If I know the corporate structure right, the Chief Brand Officer does not directly oversee ground operations, and was not authorized to terminate someone reporting to a different department. And in general, management should have addressed the issue with the offender, offer him a chance to correct his manners, before terminating them. There are times, however, to get drastic, like if there is real evidence the employee poses a real threat to others or something.

I don't know anything about employment law in the USA, however, it doesn't seem right that she could just dismiss him like that. Whilst his attitude stinks and he clearly shouldn't be working with the public if he thinks so little of them, he hasn't actually committed gross misconduct in that he wasn't being rude to the customers. A better course of action would either be to send him on some training or offer him a redundancy package (instead of dismissal). In his defence, working long hours for low pay can make you bitter towards customers if you work with the public; I worked in the restaurant trade for 13 years and we all felt like this from time to time (though I have to admit his case is quite extreme). There are lots of Ronnies out there.

@ksha7356 жыл бұрын
Their reactions at reveal are more real like they didn’t expect it but other episodes where the CEO goes into the field with ridiculous obviously fake disguise, their reactions seemed to be pre-planned. Also, in other episodes, when they talk during the break, staffs would reveal about their personal problems and debt they are in (much more than they normally would to a stranger: as if ‘need to mention everything /problem which need to be resolved to the CEO’). But this one, they don’t do that and the undercover has to dig it out of them (even then they say minimum) instead of them spilling the whole list of problems they memorised. I feel like the show isn’t very authentic anymore or they don’t care about authenticity as people watch the show so they catch on easily when they see someone who look like the CEO in disguise come in. So they are prepared for what they would say and bring up things they want to receive or resolved. If the business owner really want to see what goes on in business, they should send someone else in charge, in stead of doing it themselves, whose face most staff members are aware of, plus using the same lame cover show of “win your own business competition”, and staff don’t suspect? Come in! Anyone with half a brain would know.

I worked customer service for several decades and I love it, but there are times when customers do gang up on you and when you’re training a new employee you have the chance to vent a little bit. I know this dude Ronnie was really negative, but I just hope it was a specific time in his life, not a normal way for him to behave. Like, there was one time when my workplace created an entire event with all the tickets free of charge. So customers came and took all the tickets so they were “sold out” in a manner or minutes and everyone else who came were just chewing our heads off.. one specific, infamous one, actually decided that I lied when I told him my CEO is too busy to see him right now (which he was, but either way, he doesn’t work for you), so he went upstairs and started banging on glass doors… ugh.. they compensated him. And I was acting like that annoying guy for a week because it bothered me so much that people who abuse workers still get benefits. The customer should always receive the best service we can possibly give them, but they are definitely not always right. And I refuse to lie to customers and tell them they’re always right. Also, This place looks like such a bad place to work. Any place that serves food and doesn’t give their employees a single meal is a place I instantly leave.

If an employee says they hate a customer, and that is how they truly feel, but they hide that when interacting with them and actually provide good service and do their job well, then that's a dumbass decision to fire them...

Its one thing to say you dislike someone but all he did was bitch. You're allowed to dislike the customer but the things he said was non-stop

Ronnie has a typical 'slave morality' as Nietzsche described; not enough courage to confront people he has issues with directly but bitching behind their back's and building resentment and becoming a negative and ugly person inside...I know because I have been in this dynamic in the past and I had to give myself a kick in the ass and mature.

For a correct way of handling the Ronnie incident, look no further than the Buffets Inc. episode when the boss works with a dishwasher totally frustrated with his job and showing openly destructive attitudes, way worse than Ronnie's. This guy just goes over to the store manager to address it, finds out the real problem was dysfunctional management (rom the other managers). He does admonish the employee at the reveal, but given his immediate boss' support, offers him a second chance, and employee just turns around and becomes a shining star. And it's not like the Buffets Inc. boss was adverse to taking drastic action - he was perhaps the most aggressive personality on the show, unafraid to get drastic.
@PurplePinkRed3 жыл бұрын
This is exactly right. The attitude comes from the top down in businesses. Healthy cultures and behaviours if practised by management quickly stamp out the drama and gossip.
@broadstreet213 жыл бұрын
@@PurplePinkRed True. You could say the same to Sarah, like what if Ronnie isn't the only real source of the problem? What if it's his superiors? Or what if he is having an off day or having other personal problems and taking it out like this? Furthermore, did he really merit getting canned? It was not like he was not openly bad to customers, like Jackie in Retro Fitness, nor was he out of control like Skye in Buffets Inc. One more thing, as chief brand officer, do restaurant staff report directly to her? She might oversee customer service as an advisory capacity, but normally, front line staff report to a chief operating officer.

@@broadstreet21 You can't have someone who hates customers serving food, he knew it was going to be on TV and still openly and willlingly admitted his hate for thr company and its customers! He wasn't even remorseful for what he said and still displayed the same narcissistic bitchy attitude, no sympathy from me, he got what he deserved imo

People like you will never understand what 'giving service' actually means. Not to mention how many times did that guy have to let her know how much he hates customers, once/twice would be normal, but constantly?!
@crazydavec38615 жыл бұрын
@@laurak1667 .. I did it for seven years every weekend on a supermarket till. If you go at the public positively they're nearly always positive back. I had witty routines with regulars (like offering to weigh a baby as bananas.... or leaks!), it only went wrong a couple of times. We sometimes do complain about our work of course, but not with a camera pointing at us, a person would have to be seriously dumb to not realise that's gonna come back on them! Some folks learn the easy way, some the hard way, others just don't figure it out at all!

bruh if I was on undercover boss I'd either get a crazy pay raise and made partner of the company, or get fired immediately. there are times where (like tonight) at 10 pm I'm trying to still fix some shit so it can be working in the morning and this will go on for up to about 5months and then I have slumps where from anywhere between 3 months and a year I'll be legit slacking, apart from the routine tasks I do. fortunately at half the companies I've worked (software developer/engineer), I've built a big chunk of their infrastructure and no1's bothered enough to learn how it works and how to maintain it, so there's only me LOL.
