This weekend Draymond Green responded to Rasheed Wallace, saying that the Warriors would destroy the Pistons in a gentleman's sweep if the 2017 Warriors met the 2004 Pistons. Sheed clapped back saying there's no beef between him and Dray BUT, there's no chance that would have happened.

Defensively sure. Offensively though? Sheed can say they sacrificed point for team, but the crappy FG% don’t add up. Normally if Chauncey is sacrificing points for team then that means he is sacrificing total shots for more quality shots. Chauncey couldn’t even make 40% of his shot that year.
@adamfeliciano6321
@adamfeliciano6321 7 ай бұрын
@AAblade7 respectfully I cant even call you a nerd because you’re not good in logic. The 2000s era was the deadball era, meaning defense was at an all time peak. Which means the 04 pistons were the 17 warriors, on defense. That low fg % from Chauncey is a result of him making his opponent shoot even lower than he did. You expend energy on both ends of the court. 30ppg Zack Lavine for example would barely crack 20ppg 20 years ago. Don’t believe me? He’s not even half the player Kobe was but his numbers are inflated today, and he only plays one end of the court. Which means he’s 33% the player Kobe was in reality.
@AAblade7
@AAblade7 7 ай бұрын
@@adamfeliciano6321 First off do you understand what context or qualifiers means? Cause you didn’t even read them based on this answer. So sure the logic doesn’t make sense when you have barely half the information. Chauncey’s FG% was low for his era especially 03-04. Like I said before his numbers were below avg for his era. So why you decided to claim it was in context to a more modern era or randomly bring in Zach Lavigne that’s on you. Also if you actually watched that season you’d know the reason why Chauncey FG% was so down was because he couldn’t hit a mid range to save his soul whether he was fresh at the start or tired at the end. Also Yes I agree that the 04 pistons were amazing on the defensive side of the ball. On the other the 17 warriors were also elite defensively. The 04 pistons were mid offensively in 04 and are arguably the worse offensive team to win a finals since the NBA/ABA merged. So someone trying to tell me one team elite on only 1 side of the ball and mid on the other is going to beat a team that was elite on both sides just preaches delusion.

That Pistons team came in and shutdown the All-stars in that All-star game.... defense changes everything and most don't understand that if you make someone uncomfortable , off ballance , forcing certain things over time it will indeed make a difference. and rules then and now makes everyone think today's NBA is so skilled.
@AAblade7

Do you think anyone was comfortable when the warriors had the ball? Also I remember watching that 03-04 pistons and nobody in their right mind thought they played a quality team style basketball. @@Skedoosh99 Steph has went cold in some series. That’s one reason why the Cavs came back from 3-1 on them. Steph wasn’t shooting well. KD can be slowed down with physicality. We saw that in the Boston vs Bklyn series. KD did give PJ Washington work in the Milwaukee series, but PJ is only 6’4. You could see KD was getting tired. If PJ was at least 6’7 he would have slowed KD down in that Brooklyn vs Milwaukee series. Klay is largely a spot up shooter who needs screens and mismatches. He’s not really someone who is good at going off the dribble like Steph or KD. Detroit had length and elite defenders. But that could make it hard for GS. Only issue is Detroit didn’t have elite offensive fire power. RJ was their best scorer them Sheed. But they aren’t dudes like Steph or KD, who can easily give you 40. That why Draymond saying they beat the 96 Bulls is lunacy. They were probably even better defensively than Detroit, which is tough and they had better offensive players. Shyt Ron 1:06 Harper averaged 21 ppg his rookie year in Cleveland, same as Lebron. Not saying he’s nearly as good, but boy was a problem before that knee injury. That’s why MJ wanted him, he used to be one of his toughest match ups along with Joe Dumars. He was a solid 3 & D type. Then you had Kukoc, who was an averaging close to 20, when MJ left. He was the 6th man. Pippen could give you that work. He’s virtually unstoppable in the open floor. Rodman and Longley not so much, but nor was Draymond & Bogut. At least Rodman will get you a ton of offensive rebounds and 2nd chance points.

the 04 pistons would've been hell inside four walls for the 2017 warriors. I don't care how individually great KD & Steph are, they're just not tough enough to take four games from them. Ben Wallace alone is putting their frontcourt in a pine box. Rip/Chauncey/Prince eventually wear down one of Steph & Klay. GS takes two games, but those Pistons grind them out all the same

1. Sheed doesn’t seem to understand that the warriors offense was team centric as well. The difference based on his wording is what they were looking for. The pistons were wearing down the other teams legs and the warriors were looking for the best quality shot. Must be why the warriors had high shooting % for their era and the pistons shooting % were below avg in their era. 2. Sheed needs to look at MP in the finals. Mike James barely played in the finals. The warriors played their benches more in the playoffs and finals. 3. Here is my big problem with the whole defense debate. The warriors are an elite defensive team. You may hate this era, but they play fundamentally sound defense. So please don’t tell me a team that struggled to be mid offensively is just going to blow the doors off of a team that was elite defensively in its own era.

Not sure who wins but I think people sleep on a lot of that Pistons team. Many of those guys were all time greats starting with Wallace who was a beast. I feel like the media has narrowed down the NBA to Lebron vs Jordan and so many greats are not really remembered. That Pistons team is a great team example. They won a title because they were a deep collection of much better than average players with a few truly top tier guys. I watched that team in real time, they were legit hard to beat. Pistons vs GS would be interesting because both teams are truly solid teams that played together.

This is the part Bonzi doesn't get. The 04 Pistons were versatile. They played a style that wore people down but they were more than capable of busting up a run-and-gun team whose idea of defense is reaching. 04 Chauncey was playing at nearly an MVP level. Golden State would've been a nice little workout but they would've ceded too much court to the Pistons to beat them.

The 2004 Pistons were better than the Bad Boys defensively. They are the best defensive team in history. Defense does not have three point shots and triple doubles. Blocks steals and rebounds only begin to tell the tale. 2004 Pistons would have kicked GS ass like they did the 2004 Lakers - who incidentally beat prime Spurs the series before that.

Even people that wanna say golden state shot a better percentage in a weaker defensive diva era.. they’re not remembering the menace that was Ben Wallace on the Offensive glass. Even the tip backs to perimeter he got that didn’t count as boards. I know the Pistons energy and effort would’ve been at 100% the full 48.. can’t say the same about the Warriors.

Depends on the rules. Pre-2005 has hand-checking. Players from the 90s and early 2000s excel in the post and midrange because that was the dominant style of play, while those from the 2010s thrive in three-pointers and pull-ups but lack post and midrange proficiency for the same reason. It's easier to shoot jumpers now, as players often shoot in transition before defenses are set up. Watching games in the mid-90s to early 2000s, teams utilized the clock more, making shooting harder as players had to shoot under pressure with the clock winding down and the defense fully set.
