The XTP is amazing for its price point. It can run neck to neck with $1000 machines for 1/4 of the price.

What has Minelab done to fix the epidemic of coil ears breaking off in record numbers?

@Stack_Silver they should tell people to stop leaning on their detector and overtightening the bolts

@@UndergroundMetalDetecting I would normaly agree, but the vast amount of breakage in so many comments across so many different channels, including from content makers themselves makes it clear they could have been made beefier. I did see Mental Metals video where the 700/900 have a different shape at the base, but he noted they are still as thin as the old ones. I think it would in the best interest of Minelab to make more robust ears for their coils. Nokta did just that and it was clearly obvious the first time I saw one of theirs. These aren’t inexpesive accessories and out of warranty could be quite costy. I think it’s a valid concern that shouldn’t be swept under the rug.

@@Stack_Silver from photos I've seen the ears were changed to be a little beefier on the coils coming with the 700s/900s. I've yet to break a single one on my 6, 11, 15, and 10x5 coils yet.

I've thought about doing reviews on these Chinese machines but haven't seen the value lately with the newer line of entry machines by big name manufacturers. Is cool to see but would go with the Xterra hands down over any of those Chinese machines and some of the higher priced name brand machines!!
