I've been a underoath fan for more than a decade, and was hungry for 2002-2003 material of the beginnings of the post hardcore era of underoath. I'm happy this had surfaced. Dallas was one of the ones truly responsible for TOCS knowing this 2003 demo exists.

@Red_Eyed4 жыл бұрын
@@chaosaintme9067 Oof. I mean, their other older stuff was more metalcore but even that's debatable. Post hardcore is Joy Division type or Fugazi. So I wouldn't label them post hardcore either. This song here is more screamo. Just like Scary Kids or Thursday. But who cares. Lol. Great tune.
@chaosaintme90674 жыл бұрын
@@Red_Eyed i get what you saying but none of those bands are screamo. Screamo became a catch word for everything with screaming in it. I've even heard people calling suicide silence and fit for an autopsy screamo, imagine that!. You definitely right about fugazi. joy division is really more post punk, but very influencial to post hardcore bands. scary kids and thursday are really more like a more poppy version of post-hardcore just like that era of underoath, they kinda sound like refused with clean, emotional vocals and synths. If you want some "true screamo" (I kinda cringed writing that) bands listen to orchid, pageninetynine, saetia and jeromes dream. These are like "the big four" of the genre if you like the sound, just explore from there

Yeah but this was a demo, by the time it would have reached recording “Dear Misery” (They’re Only Chasing Safety time frame) it would have most likely been worked out to what it came to be because Aaron wrote it anyway, and then it would have had a big production Dallas Taylor with much more passion, soul and heartache, especially in his lyrics and delivery (which I think this whole genre is based on) than I get from anything with Spencer’s vocals.
