Prethiraj Paul I build it, it's CDR effect when you get low, plus bracer giving you that health back plus more CDR let's you get most of your health back and let's you cast your entire kit again for zero mana.

Good early anti-loki/assassin item for many mages who build early CDR is Breastplate of Valor. Early Breastplate on Scylla pretty much makes sure Loki can't insta-delete you because the protections give you just enough to survive the initial first hits. And thanks to her passive her damage won't suffer too much either.

stone of fal makes anything that would hit for 30%+ of your HP instead only hit for a maximum of 30% of your HP. It absolutely cannot counter Soul Reaver that only does 10%.

VanilleRikkuTifa i believe that if you had a thousand health and stone of fal and and ability hit you for 500 and soul reaver activated (10% of your max health) you would be left with with 600 health, because the 500 would be reduced to 300 but the soul reaver is counted as a deprecate damage source, and would deal 100.

I feel like reinforced boots would be worth mentioning together with MoV since it gives protections from each hit, making things that DoT stack it up fast and give a considerable amount of protections early, also feel like CCr wasnt mentioned enough. Good novice level player guide though.

So when and on whom would you build Jade emperor's crown? An aura that lowers physical power. It's relatively cheap around 2k gold. I'm assuming a mid lane mage due to the (60?) power it gives? I tended to build it on my supports against physical heavy comps but wasn't sure if it was the best idea late game over something a little more for myself like mantle. It gives a bit of health too. 😞

herpty dumpty Supports and bruiser mages can build it fine. It only gives 20 power which doesn't make it appealing for a mid mage, and you won't be able to make good use of the aura as you will want to be away from the thick of the battle. You'd build it against a heavy physical team comp, or early against specific strong physical gods.

BM4N04 It's an underrated item but is very good in the situations that it was designed for, which is to counter mages with high burst. One thing to be aware of is that it doesn't work against mages with tick based damage or damage over time (e.g Anubis) nor gods that have many instances of damage in their burst (e.g Ao Kuang) nor does it counter items that add bonus damage such as Polynomicon, Soul Reaver, and Ethereal Staff.

On paper, yes. Practically, they often don't do enough as FB requires you to be close in the first place and WB is super situational overall. It's kinda like Spectral armor which on paper is an amazing counter, but doesn't really get the job done due to various reasons quite often.

xXGAMERZBOIIXx Witchblade is a good item in that situation but you can also consider Hide of the Nemean Lion, and Midgardian Mail, to reflect damage and slow down attack+movement speed of hunters respectively, and Frostbound Hammer for similar purposes as Midgardian Mail. Horrific Emblem can also be a strong relic in that situation.

Why don't we see Stone of Fal being picked up very often as a counter to burst as much as Bulwark of Hope, given the unique passives it has for countering mages like Possidon? I play gold level and never really see it.

Chaotic Player No, just a counter to attack speed. If a character is running, midguard won't slow them down for you.

Not really, since they're slowed only once in a while after attacking you. Its not 100% of the time like with frostbound or gem of iso. Midguardian is a real nice item to keep that enemy ADC from being too trigger happy on you but it wont do much against a jungler who is building movement speed and has speed buff. Its more of a "leave me alone" item then a "you're not going anywhere" item.

Just because you haven't played ranked doesn't mean you are worse than bronze. Remember bonze players lose the vast majority of their ranked games so tbh they actually aren't good enough for ranked yet. If you try out ranked after playing a lot of normal then you might be surprised at how high in the ranks you can get. (Even though smite ranks are bad and usually don't determine how good you actually are)

Saint Zero Z how many ranked you have play dont mean anything. i did 10 ranked match in season 3, i was such a noob back then and i got ranked gold 4. this spring split i have do 10 rank, lose some win some ( realy bad matchmaking tnx to the reset) and i got gold 1. this split i have done 10 ranked ( and 9win) got plat 4 actually i got more intense and high match whit casual then ranked. the only difference in ranked is thet there are less troll in ranked

not everyone is a good pick for antiheal...the frontliners should get pestilence, jungler beatstick, and that's it, divine ruin isn't as easy to fit in a mage build, as is witchblade. So mid/hunter shouldn't be the first option for antiheal.

Penetration is pretty tricky. Its dependent upon a large number of factors. I typically submit that Magus is outright better than Shard in most situations but its dependent upon god and usage. Ao can attack with auto's or throw his attack. Dukes build is a throw based build meaning in many situations he's only going to hit one time in which case Shard is better. Demonic Grip is also very strong on Ao. He can shred down almost anything with just Grip.

Apollo is Swag If you're playing Ao Kuang as a basic attack mage rather than a burst mage, Spear of the Magus will be better in that situation. But in a traditional burst build, Obsidian Shard is better. Your goal with that build is to burst someone down quickly and Obsidian Shard helps with that as its penetration is applied instantly, not requiring stacks.

Tudor Ciubotaru If the enemy team has no support or no player is building aura items or the Magic Shell relic, then yes you'd be right, but that's unlikely to occur. Because of this Obsidian Shard is a better option as it would result in more penetration versus a squishy that is gaining protections from their support's auras and relics. And while tanks aren't your primary target, you may have to help in killing one in a teamfight and if not, you will need to deal with them later, making the percentage penetration from Obsidian Shard more valuable. Also you'd build Spear of Desolation and Obsidian Shard together anyways.

Tedesco Blackthorn Hammer's passive will proc at any instance in which you are below 30% health, not just when you get hit by an ability that deals a ton of damage. I wouldn't blame anyone for not building it either way- it's pretty bad.

frank lavoie i like it on bell elrong and osiris. those tree can stick to target easly to applay it, its quite cheap, give you enought defensive stats and make work before you build pestilance. you have no idea how fun is box a chaac under the rain and see him disoriented by the lack of heal.

If you keep dying before you can get the stacks then it won't matter how much EH a fully stacked HotU gives. Spirit Robe also gives CDR and CCR both valuable stats for mages.

Brawlers gives zero protection which a solo laner (assuming warrior in solo) needs. You are not optimizing if you get brawlers on a solo warrior as their damage scaling is fine with just getting defenses. You should instead get pestilence and witchblade. You'll get more useful stats like health, defense, movement speed, etc...
