Awesome video it really helps to understand what I am looking for I am right now at this very moment looking for a new fishfinder for the back of my boat I have been looking at the striker 9sv I do not need a plotter as I have a echomap up front, now I fish mainly in lakes down to 175 ft most of the time 100 and under, and rivers from 10 to 70 ft which transducer would be the best for me I troll alot and I fish bass small mouth in a lake 50 ft deep and rocky anyway thank you for a awesome video..

the standard transducer that comes with any of the Echo map units will more than handle what you are looking to do. The striker should too!

Great video Bro, one of the Best over youtube explaining this matter. I have a 40F boat step hull boats with 3 engines and I need to add side view. what is your suggestion? can you talk more about the new Garmin Ultra High-Definition Scanning Sonar?
@LostAngler5 жыл бұрын
All of the new Garmin clear vu and side vu units are the Ultra High Sonar units. If I was looking at the side vu and clear vu I would look at the Garmin GT30-THP. Or you could get away with the Garmin GT30-TM. Both would work very well as you will be using your side vu and clear vu at lower speeds.

As long as my frequencies are different can. Stack duckers? Have a live scope I made portable on top of a 51. Using a 1042 XSV all portable. Really cool.
@beewagyu4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, that didnt come out right..I made a portable unit similar to luggage that has the 1042 mounted to the extendable pull out handle, and the bottom of the unit has the electronics in it with cables that come out of the box to a portable pole. I have used this with much success as it mounts on the right side of my boat as well and the pole has both magnets and it clips into a pvc holder for ridgidity as well. I have the G-51 transducer hard mounted above the rotatable Livescope transducer and have never had problems as far as I can tell with interference. I just installed the perspective mount but started thinking if I might have interference for some reason from the beams. The question is as long as the freqs are different I shouldn’t correct?? Thanks

so hw transducer in hull for ranger bass boat . i want to use the unit on front ofboat front but i dont want the transducer mounted on my TM because i always end up scrapping in shallow water.and i would probly bang it good if it was outside on the back transom mount as ive already done.. im thinking about the echomap 73 uhd. so i wont have side veiw unless i get a Trandsom mount or trolling motor .i plan on runnin one on the consol and one on the front trolling motor help me out i want clear down and side so i would actualy need 2 different transducers but will they both work between 2 units

Excellent vid !! I have a 2009 22' Grady White Fisheman with an In-Hull Transducer. Is the grady suffering of the symptom as the Contender with the In-Hull? Also, what is your take of making a through hull in order to measure water temp? Thanks! Cheers!
@LostAngler4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. I don't believe that Grady has a cored hull. So an in hull should be fine. However a thru hull will be better as long as you are careful to avoid any pick ups in front of the transducer on the hull. I generally prefer a thru hull for my deep sonar system (high wattage and low frequency). But if you are only wanting temp I would go with a transom mount for simplicity and cost effectiveness
@ensjesse6 жыл бұрын
Bro. Great video! But you have a few technical errors. NMEA 2000 and Autopilot is supported on some Echomap Chirp and Plus Models. Chirp Midband is usually around the range of 80-160 kHz. Please keep up the good work! -Jesse
@LostAngler6 жыл бұрын
I see you're right! I was looking at the cv and so frequencies and not the traditional. I know it is a nmea2000 compatible unit but I didn't think it was intended as a network unit like the gpsMAP series. Although autopilot on smaller boats is rarely if ever used in our area so I didn't even think about it.

I was thinking to buy the Garmin 92 SV UHD with the new gt56uhd to fish offshore on saltwater in about 80/100 FT max, i know That the tradicional Chirp would work ok on those depts what about the down vu and the SIDE view, could i have those UHD clear images? Even if i lower the frequence down to the 800/455 instead of the 1000 kHz?

ok so you might try going into your setting and changing the icons. They have the old school fish symbols. This is a great way to see quickly what are fish and what is just interference. Also try turning the noise down in your settings, that will clear up the clutter.

Hey can I put an in hull transducer in a 2018 Carolina skiff 218 Dlv ? Thanks for the great video
@LostAngler4 жыл бұрын
No I'm afraid not. The foam between the liner and the hull won't give a good signal. You could do a thru-hull but I suggest a well placed transom mount

Both should be fine. One is just a more updated version. And make sure to check the position of your transom mount transducer. A small adjustment can make a huge improvement

I have the Garmin Striker 4cv. 2 years old now and I keep getting a message that says "transducer is disconnected....." it's clearly connected and in the water. In researching this online I see people refer to it as "the dreaded transducer disconnected message." Suggesting it may be a bad temp element?? It's only a $100 transducer, but I should get more than 2 years out of it. Any knowledge on how to change the temp element? Thanks.
