My 9 month old cockatiel Pete is having hormonal issues that I didn’t realize until watching videos. Thank you for your help. It’s unnerving when he went from a very good bird to a beast biting and screaming. Hopefully he will get back to his lovable self soon.

The hanging toy Mia is playing on at the very end of the video is precious. Is it from an online store?
@PoodlesandParrots Жыл бұрын
Thank you but I am not sure it was a gift from family for Mia! Unfortunately I don't like this toy because of the rope and plastic bits - so she was always supervised and most attracted to the paper rings on it - she's now destroyed all the paper rings and we have thrown it out! My favourite place to get toys is PlanetPleasures.com (Mango15 for a 15% off for you!) & I have a video for all kinds of online parrot stores in the video & comments! kzbin.info/www/bejne/imOtoGR_ar2Jhtk Check it out😀💖

Does this happen in wild birds as well? I have some feeders out for our local wild birds, and I've noticed some similar behavior from them when I'm outside. Like position themselves awkwardly and their cloacas popping in and out without any "emissions," we'll say. Perhaps my little chickadee friends are being a little too friendly.

Hi! Can I pet my bird's back, wings, etc.. if it's not hormonal season, or should I always pet his head only?
@PoodlesandParrots9 ай бұрын
You should never pet them on the wings or back because even if it’s not hormonal season that type of petting stimulates their hormones!

HI. My female Conure has been hormonal all winter. She has started chewing on my cupboards and door jams. She has lots of toys. I play with her all the time. She's been attacking my grandson when he's trying to give me a hug. I'm at my witts end and don't know what to do.

Stay tuned because I’ll be doing a video this month on resources of where to go when you need an extra helping hand like a consult with a bird behaviourist, I can suggest Jenn who’s very knowledgeable www.thegreenbirdbrigade.com or Sophie & David bestbehavedbirds.com 🙂🙃🙂🙃

My female Conure has been showing these behaviors all winter long as well. Other behaviors have been her chewing on my kitchen cupboards and door molding. She has lots of toys and I pay attention to her. She does dive-bomb my grandson if he tries to hug me. Any male that walks in the house she will perch on their shoulders. I don't know what to do . She had not laid any eggs. She's about three years old. Any suggestion will help.

With the behaviours context is important because they don’t always mean hormones. Generally parrots don’t have a natural instinct for breeding until it start to get warmer with more daylight. If you are noticing these behaviours I would suggest more mental stimulation and foraging, this video has some fun ideas! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXiYq2WPr9J5eck additionally I would also suggest this video, it sounds like your Conure is being territorial over you kzbin.info/www/bejne/rojCdpuemL6An80 I hope this helps! I would also suggest socialization training, as with any training it takes some time and consistency❤️

Also, if/when we see them rubbing up on something, do we need to stop that - or do we just let them keep going? Lol

No more belly kisses ??? 🥺

For sure not during hormones! I know it’s hard but imagine how much harder it is for them when we trigger their hormones🥺

Y not get them a mate! This is inhumane to make them go through this! They need to be in the wild!
