I've been adjusting nut on top of rocker arm, every time I tune up the car. It was in the owner's manual. My 1988 Nissan Sentra 4 cylinder 1.6 L with 178000 miles is doing great. All I did was loosen the nuts and then tighten nut one at a time, until engine started to stall. Then back off the nut a little bit and move to the next one. Always wondered why I was doing it. Thanks for posting

You got to get your adjuster in a good starting position first. With light setup springs and an adjustable push rod you bring the valve to 50% open and check that the line from your rocker tip in relation to the valve stem passes directly through the shaft center line. If not, the shaft needs to be raised or lowered. Use the push rod length that gives you the closest to a straight line between the push rod and adjuster at full lift without too much offset at fully closed. Centered and narrow wipes are important and fall into place when the geometry is corrected. B3 Racing has this all figured out with their geometry correction kits.

This is pretty good. The sweep mark towards the intake side or push rod too short causes loss of power.

How do you seat the cup? Is it flush with the locking nut and then turn it one turn in...or how?
@hotrodray68027 ай бұрын
Wow. The fulcrum geometry of that click picture rocker is great. Definitely a fast-off-the-seat item. Most shaft type are. Plain rollers usually are NOT. Few understand the difference. Also the shaft pedestal system must be adjusted up or down.... Because not all heads are accurately machined. 😳

I've been looking for a vid that shows how to determine pushrod length on shaft mounted rockers, this is the only one I've seen. I have a 91 dodge 360 roller cam LA engine and am stroking it to 408, with a larger cam, been looking for a bit of info.

Get a pushrod length checker 7-8.25 inch is roughly what our motors need. Then order the correct one. Also see b3 engines as he carries a geometry correction kit specific to your build.

Good teaching, thanks! Trying to find stage 2 camshaft even used one??/ into my Mustang 2004/ 3.8 litre V6?? No luck, Comp Cams don't even make it?? Do you guys make it?? Also, can I put, 1.7 ratio rocker arms into my Mustang, after stage 2 camshaft?? stock is, I believe 1.6. Is there enough "play" in pistons to do that?? Thanks a lot!

I was under the impression that rocker geometry determines your pushrod length. What I mean by that is you get your geometry based off your cam card/spring and stud size, Then from there you measure your pushrod.

Are shaft rockers used with hydraulic cams?
@prestigemotorsports6 жыл бұрын
They can be but in most cases we opt for the shaft systems when using solid roller camshafts. Mainly because we are using more aggressive ramp profiles and higher "over the nose" spring pressures. If its in the budget to go shaft with either hydraulic or solid we would recommend it.

I bought a set of Pqw shaft rockers for my 15..* 434, SBC . Makes 788 HP, I spray 2 stages thru it as the situation calls for it! 325 passes on same Rockers never broke one piece of the whole assembly. However, I go over kill on maintenance in between races, check lash, pre lube everything when maintaining valve train. Pull rockers off and inspect push rod cup, rocker body for cracks, roller tips, replace pedestal bolts that hold rockers to stand every six month just to be safe, inspect rocker stand with magna-flux, Then OCD CLEAN THE PISS OUTTA EVERY PIECE! Brand new solvent on rockers then I soak them over night in no detergent oil with a full bottle of Lucas Zinc additive. Then all the rest of the pars take a lacquer thinner bath. Once clean, I air blow every piece in a clean bright environment MPI everything & visual inspect it, f Then, lacquer bathe it to spotless again, Then takes a soak in oil / zinc overnight. Next morning she’s ready and POW! (PUTT’N * OUT * WORK, Like a Hoe on Dolla night! Moral to story, just because she doesn’t have big named high quality Shaft System luke Jessel or T&D, (Those are the best of the BEST no doubt), but my set makes a lot of HP & a lot of passes with ZERO failures! It’s all in how yo Maintain your equipment. Also, some of the less expensive stuff, is pretty dam good quality these days. 15* 434, SBC, 766 lift Spec Nitrous Grind from Bullet Cams, solid roller, Morel Lifters, bushed bores, Dart block, 788 HP / 605 # ft torque Jessel belt drive, AFR 245 Blanks / Slick - Rick Racing Heads (Proto -Type) confidential on specs. Steve Johnson Dual Stage Fogger Dope System w/ Stinger plate hooked up as my scrample button but have never needed where we are running in Texas at the moment. These Cactus Hopper LS Trucks & Camaro’s all go home w/ the Stank Eye when the get all Fukered up by “THE HATTER-MAKER!” I gladly take their Momma’s money every time! Lost 1 race out of 73, that’s bc I scattered my Rossler finally after about 5 years of beatings on it. Best and only REAL TRANS Builders in USA probably the WORLD

I'd rather have the tip sweep towards the exhaust side then come back in, gives you more of your full lift, I'm not talking extremes, also don't do this with hyd lifters unless u use lightweight setup springs fyi

too short of a pushrod also changes the ratio of the rocker and causes a loss of valve lift.
