I'm glad I've found your videos I had the pleasure of having a brief lesson with you on a Joe Powell demonstration day when I went to a tournament at Woburn many years ago I stopped playing for 10 plus year's owing to work commitments and then the dreaded big C but just about to start playing again now I've retired I shall continue to watch your videos that brief lesson was fantastic and you gave me a lot of confidence as I was concerned as I played with a flattish swing plane and you encouraged me to play with it loved this video I remember the carpet beating you showed me it that day

Fabulous and excellent clip Luther, have been following your KZbin videos with much interest. Your DVD on Hogan is a gem and I do have an Explanar in my back yard, keep up the good work.

Took your suggestion to put my driver shaft at right angles to target to the driving on Monday. Played golf on Tuesday and was beating the ball like a carpet. I was smoking that ball down the fairway like a 20 year old ! I am 69 and felt like I was a kid again, almost. Thanks for the help! Glad I found your website 😃.Chris from Surprise Arizona.

Great news Chris! Johnny Miller said it was one of the most important things he learned - “sadly I was 38 when they told me!”

Good video Luther, didn't realise you moved so much off the ball in the takeaway, 42 years I've been keeping my head still and turning my shoulder under the chin, also I'm similar to Colin Montgomerie with hands on driver slightly behind at address although the majority of my golf years I played a draw, fade the ball now as 52 years old and easier on the body.

Hi Padraig - thanks for your feedback. My lower spine is curved inwards - the term is swaybacked. One inch of "Tilt" is more damaging than 4 or 5 inches of "sway" so I've got a way with it for a long time!

He moves laterally a lot less when he swings in his "Explanar"

Help me understand this Luther. I love to hit the fade, so I'd I aim the shaft and the face down the target line the move myself and the shaft to the right( I'm a right golfer) the shaft is now behind the ball and the face has also moved left of the original target line. As I see it all I have done is moved the entire machine to the right and established a different target line which would be left of the original target line. How will that insure a fade if the ball. What am I missing or don't understand, thanks great vids been watching them all.

Hi Bill - you are 100% correct. It’s like a 3 legged stool with the axis being the club, around which we move radially. What it ensures is that when you aim left the club face goes with you ie left of target / the club face is square to that line BUT!! the beauty is by living a bit above plane ( a tiny bit out2in) you can impart spin across the face using the sweet spot of the face and on the ideal send line. A face fade does not allow you to do that / an open face cannot strike the sweet spot on that line of compression so the ball starts a bit right before fading. SHAPE THE SHOT WITH THE PATH👍

@@lutherblacklockgolfcom ah, the swing plane just needs to be slightly above the setup plane. Got it and that makes total since. Thanks my friend.

Hitting with the whole club is a concept that millions of golfers never get! they hit at the ball with the clubhead yet in every ball sport youve played competently eg cricket ,tennis,baseball etc you strike with the whole implement ie bad batmen hit at the ball with the toe end.

So you say load the shoulder but you aren't worried about coming over the top in the downswing?
@lutherblacklockgolfcom3 жыл бұрын
Not at all - I have zero pupils that come over the top. An incomplete shoulder coil is a major cause of coming over the top. Also, practicing in Explanar doesn’t allow it to happen. Invariably “coming over the top” is the symptom of an earlier fault in the backswing. Hope that all makes sense. Thank you for your perceptive question and I trust you are enjoying the videos. Luther.
