I've got to say, your videos are awesome! I recently got into sharpening for groomers and stylists after years doing knives as a side gig and handling these curved shears has been quite the learning experience! I was about to design and 3d print my own curved blocks and use some gritted cloths but this is way better haha. Thanks again!

Hmmm. To buy the new hones ( I have curved hone) or certify...decisions decisions. Great explanations of the curved blade. I see then all the time as high end groomers Re my clients. Way too often goofed up by sharpeners that don't know ... Thanks Bonnie for helping the profession, and the clients too.

I would get the hone. Better hurry, they are almost sold out and that of course could make your decision. Mystie is ordering more from Japan.

Love your videos...I've learned a ton. I also despise curved shears. Those stones will make sharpening them a bit more tolerable. :-)

They sure do.

So all i need is 3 of this stones?I dont need to sharpening curved scissors only use this 3 stones for ride line?No sharpening on machine?
@BonikaShears4 жыл бұрын
These stones are for the rideline. You need a machine to do the outside edge.

How many wraps of tape do you put around the stones?
@BonikaShears3 жыл бұрын
I wrap it once on one side and twice on the others. However, I've quit wrapping the stones. Once you get the hang of following the rideline flat, the tape really gets in the way.

Why is tape used for rideline guidance on the curved blades and not on the flat blades?
@BonikaShears2 жыл бұрын
The flat blades I’m able to have the whole blade on the water stone with the pressure on the pivot area. The curved shear I must estimate the flat rideline. If you can do this without the tape, that is good. The tape is a helper.

You should try it on a straight razor with slight smile edge Some are grinded bad !
@BonikaShears2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. Straight razors are not my expertise. I would probably use a flat stone like our Kitayama stone.

This is a 3 year old video. I have many newer ones. Before you can understand how to use the Archones you need to understand the rideline. Are you a professional shear sharpener? Don't try this on your shears unless you have an understanding of the hollow and the ride on your curved shears.
