Undertaker was such a phenomenal leader because he led by example. He was not a natural by any means. Everything that he did was based on a ton of hard work. He was not a natural ring talent. He didn't have a natural look. He wasn't a natural speaker (as you see here), but he worked at everything and not only met expectations, but exceeded them to a point where he was one of the best at almost everything. His matches were usually awesome, his promos after Paul Bearer left were awesome. He crafted the image of a phenom. He adapted to the Attitude Era with BikerTaker and he pulled off that transition so splendidly, but then went back to his roots after the Attitude Era. What's so amazing about that is that most wrestlers could not even transition from one to the other once. Old wrestling personalities died during the Attitude Era, and attitude wrestlers died during Ruthless Aggression. Taker did BOTH transitions and remained on top. It wasn't just a respect thing like Hogan where he rode the 1980s for his entire career. It wasn't an ass-kissing thing like HHH did. No. Taker was just that good and his work was so good for so long. Even some of his late matches when he was old and busted up, sometimes out of shape, he was able to have some pretty good Wrestlemanias. And even through all of that, he still maintains a positive businessman like attitude, holds no grudges, and says things how he saw them. Such an amazing icon of wrestling.

The best way Bischoff could have saved WCW was to give Undertaker $7million/yr for 4yrs back in early 1997, he would have kept that locker room straight and derailed the politics that Nash and Hogan played.
@FinePieceOfGrass9 жыл бұрын
Alexander Tolivaisa Undertaker was always a very loyal company man for the WWE but Jesus, 7 million dollars a year is a ton of money, especially for a wrestler.
@switchbuckle5th9 жыл бұрын
Alexander Tolivaisa WCW and Bischoff tried to throw ludicrous offers at taker over the years, but he never took their calls and etc. I think to Taker loyalty meant way more than money, and the fact of the matter is he was already making buttloads of money from Vince. So even a 7 million dollar offer probably wouldn't have swayed him.
@SimplyXxXWild9 жыл бұрын
Alexander Tolivaisa Wouldn't have made a lick of difference. Taker became locker room general in WWE locker rooms because guys like Hogan, Macho, etc. all left. It was a Seniority thing. Since he was one of the last remaining hands since his debut in, what.. 1990? You put him in the WCW locker room in the 90s with veterans who were around longer than him, and were bigger superstars than him (remember the dead man gimmick was fading in the late 90s, that's why they had to keep transforming him throughout the early 2000s) AND you add in the fact that he isn't Undertaker anymore (yeah, Vinnie Mac owns that, so he's not taking it with him) you have just another multi-million dollar hand that WCW doesn't know what to do with.

WCW was having poor ratings for years and years. They were not a competitor to the WWF from 1988-1995 despite Vince Russo having no involvement in WCW. They were still alive from 1988-1995 because of their TV deal that they had because of Ted Turner.

@@IonicSarge Hogan barely put anyone over? first of all, almost all wrestlers that wrestles hogan win or lose hogan makes him look good. Unlike other wrestlers like Goldberg or the ultimate warrior, who almost only had squash matches. Even the undertaker had lots of squash matches. Just ask Jimmy Snuka. Hogan never had squash matches, unless it was against a low card wrestler or a jobber. Besides that, your argument about putting someone over who was already over is a little bit silly. Hogan was a main eventer, possibly the greastest mega star wrestling has ever seen. Is he supposed to job to a nobody? no, main eventers usually job against main eventers and main eventers are usually already over. And hogan has made the job for a lot of wrestlers including, the undertaker, the giant, lex luger, sting, ric flair, billy kidman, jacques rougeau, triple H, the ultimate warrior, kurt angle, Brock lesnar, Billy kidman, the rock, Andre the Giant, Goldberg, Roddy PIpper, and even sid vicious.

Andrew Ruiz what are you talking about? The whole nwo thing was a ploy by Vince to finally end wcw. Don’t forget nwo in the beginning had Vince doing anything possible for ratings. When taker was in wcw he was no body when taker was working with hall and Nash in wwf he was a mid carder at best it wasn’t until the Wwf wcw ratings war taker actually took over as one of the top guys and even then he wasn’t the top guy. Maybe the longest in the company wrestler wise but Hall and Nash didn’t have to back down or respect taker when in fact they only went for the check cut by Vince. Taker was one of those guys who got spotlight after all the top guys left. When Shawn was running wwf who else was there as his competition beside taker? Bret left stone cold was just starting to rise rock took over. Taker was just loyal and played his role like sting was loyal and played his role when it was all said and done they weren’t the top brass that could of run the show on their own as the top guy. Joe Grace But they weren't a bad influence on the business. If not for them, there's no Monday Night Wars. The .com merger and subsequent crash of the network are why WCW lost funding. They then couldn't afford the talent, they fired Eric Bischoff who, love him or hate him, knew how to compete with Vince. Everyone then wanted to have their input, but the organization was sloppy and thus a "too many cooks in the kitchen" situation emerged. It wasn't because Hall, Nash, and Hogan were cancers. They wanted to make the business better.

Cutter Sloan I was listening to Solmonsters Pod cast and came up with a good point. Name any wrestler that has 20 moves! And big guys don't using have a lot of moves. Here's the thing that kills me is that all the people that hate Nash say that about him never say anything and Kane, Sid or Undertaker. I love Undertaker, huge fan of his but there was a time when Undertaker only did throat punches, old school, a flying clothes line and a tombstone. I'm not saying he stole moves from Nash but he started using some of Nash's moves. The big boot, side walk slam, choke slam and snake eyes. yes believe or not there was a time Undertaker did not do the choke slam. So why is Nash hated so much for doing what every other wrestler 6'8" and hope do???? Except Mike Awesome, Mike awesome was truely a gifted big man that was 6'9" or 6'10" that did stuff no one else that size did. Its a shame he died before he got a chance to go to WWE.

It’s not like Taker didn’t play the political game himself. He was one of the masters of it. From what I hear, he’s a good leader. But every so often, Ive read/heard things that leads me to believe he sometimes took advantage of his position and enjoyed playing his “Judge Judy” character.

Thing is vince was a different man than bischoff. Bischoff got influenced by hogan hall and nash. No one influenced vince. Vince has always set the tone on how his wrestlers should conduct themselves and it rubbed off on the undertaker.

Vince only brought them back so he could bury them. After WrestleMania they ultimately ended up feuding with Booker and Goldust until Nash got injured and that was that

you can find some good ones where the shows go off air and taker breaks kayfabe, and theres one where he is on jimmy kimmel, hard to find anything on the deadman, he is probably most protected wrestler in history

Hogan tried to claim that it was he who got Calloway his job in the WWF. Hogan had nothing to do with it. A guy named Prichard was Calloway's manager at the time. They went to see McMahon,and McMahon turned him down. He claimed Calloway looked more like A basketball player then a wrestler. Prichard talked McMahon into watching a match Calloway was in and McMahon was impressed enough to offer a contract. And now for the big coincidence. Prichard wanted to manage a "dark" character and McMahon had this idea for an Undertaker character. Calloway turned the character down,thinking it would never last but McMahon kept bringing it up until Calloway finally said yes.

@@darrylbernard8885 wrong Prichard wasn't Mark's manager until he debuted as the Undertaker it was Paul Heyman. And as for you last theory about Mark turning the Undertaker gimmick down Mark has said on more than one occasion that one day he gets a call from Vince and Vince asks "Is this the Undertaker?" Mark says yes it is

If Mark was considering on joining wcw around 96-98 provide proof. Mark was treated like shit when he was with them before his Undertaker persona was born. Why rejoin a company that treated you like shit?
