How the hell does a band remain so consistently inspired and vital for such a long time? It's all in their creative process. Even when they get it wrong (a rare occurrence), they get it worng exactly right, if that makes any sense.

I've just taken delivery of the entire Drift project and I'd avoided listening to any of it before getting it completely, as I was listening through my thoughts were how do they manage to create so many tracks just in one year, and for them all just about to be different but relevant and new at the same time, whilst also being comfortably familiar and laced with some massive future classics. To do that after a career that's already spanned 25 years is amazing, after listening to the first five CD's in the set I couldn't say that there weren't any tracks that I didn't like.
@DodderingOldMan

Ha, I get what you mean, although I personally wouldn't use the word 'wrong'. I'd say that even with the small percentage of their tracks that I don't love, I still respect and admire their musicality. But yeah, for my money there is not group that has been so consistent over decades. I mean, I'm possibly biased, as I rate Underworld as easily... EASILY the greatest band of the modern era.

A few more examples: 😁 "D'Arbly Street" > "Stagger" (possibly) "Swing Up High" > "You Do Scribble" > "Scribble" "Silver Boots" > "Always Loved a Film" "Geezer" > "Faxed Invitation" "D+B Thing" + "Bing Here" > "Banstyle/Sappys Curry" "Nifter" > "Please Help Me" "Techno Thang" > "Rowla" > "Cherry Pie" "Spirit of the World" > "Mother Earth" "Man Loop" > "Thing in a Book" > "Second Hand" "Shout Twice" > "UW Orange Bed" > "Something like a Mama" "Can You Feel Me?" > "After Sky" (aka the second, chilled-out part of "Mmm Skyscraper I Love You") "020202" > "Sola Sistem" (or possibly the other way round 🧐) "Telematic Peal" > "Grace" "Oddity Thing" > "Between Stars" Also including remixes they did for other artists: "Bing Here" > Rob & Goldie - "The Shadow [Bing Here Mix]" "Cowgirl [Winjer Mix]" > Orbital - "Lush 3.3 [Underworld]" I absolutely love the way they share these works-in-progress, alternate versions and self-remixes so generously!

very interesting but the outro needs to be longer and work up into a trance. I feel like that would be the natural progression for Underworld, though perhaps they deliberately ended it sooner cuz they were sick of being typecast into doing the long groove thing and wanted to deliver a shorter song for once. This reminds me of something off Second Toughest or Beacoup Fish.
