The term you're looking for is "role players". Take Dennis Rodman for example. The man was one of the greatest rebounders and hustle players of all time. He was a hall of famer. Yet only average 7 Ppg for a career. He also never averaged even 1 block per game or one steal per game for a season his entire career. Yet was considered an elite defender, and won defensive player of the year 2 times, because he could get in the oppositions head and was good at taking charges. His impact on games could not be measured by stats alone. That is why the Bulls are still considered one of the best teams to ever do it. On the defensive side the Bulls teams were amazing. On the offensive end they basically had Jordan and Pippen with role players. A guy like Dennis' main role on the offensive end was to grab offensive rebounds.

Absolutely. But, it shows that stats aren't everything. It's not all about analytics. You have to produce. You have to win. You cant just build up amazing stats and get the same level of appreciation. That's not a slight at any particular player. But, I think the media makes analytics the entire arguement sometimes. The thing with Jordan was that he did make a lot of those players better. He was super strict with everyone on the team, as much as he was on himself, and the players trained like they were maniacs because Jordan was a real psycho, breathing down their necks. Of course, a few of the players didn't need that motivation, they were already super tough and played hard. But Dennis Rodman, and Scottie Pippen, Steve Kerr, they all were whipped by jordan.

Joshua Martinez Taking nothing away from the Mavs, but there is no excuse, you have the team, you have the talent, you have the opportunity and you choke. This is not a little choke, this is a huge choke. And how can you say they let others score, D Wade was on his way to another Finals MVP of it wasn't for Lebron. They tried to stop him, they couldn't, but easily Lebron is Lebron and should have done a lot more. Heck Jason Terry outplayed him that series. It is completely his fault no excuses. I dont know how anyone can defend his obvious fault in that finals.

The bulls had a better front office, and were better in acquiring rotational talent (Pippen, Rodman, Grant, Kerr, Kukoc, Harper) that constitutes a team built around Jordan. Cavs and Heat relied on "number one option offensively" talent (Wade, Bosh, Love, Irving). Lebron had teammates who had to adjust from being number 1, to 2nd and 3rd options. Before going to Lebron's team, they were already putting up stats because they had to, whether their team was winning (Wade,Bosh) or losing (Irving, Love). This in turn allowed them to have accolades such as allstar nods and all nba team selections. Whereas in Jordan's case, none of his teammates (with exception to Ron Harper) started out as number 1 offensive options and didn't put up the necessary offensive stats that the league places emphasis on. In my opinion, offensive stats are placed at a higher premium than defensive stats, that is why people would argue that Kevin Love or Kyrie Irving are "better" than Pippen or Rodman.

Jordans most dominant individual years were pre phil jackson! The triangle actually made jordan less dominant but the team became better! He learned to be a better team player through Phil and the triangle! Its partly Lebron fault that he doent have great coaches and that he hops grom teams to teams to better his chances for winning a chip! Plus dont act like everywhere LeBron goes his teams have always been great and have always catered to his playstyle! Plus you really cant really build around LeBron on the long term as he has the mentality to go to another team as he sees fit! I do think that lebron in Miami had a better team than Jordan for his first 3 championships. Lebron,Wade, Bosh, Allen... That's easily an All time Great team. Lebron best small forward, Wade arguably 3rd best shooting guard, Bosh rebounding and defensive monster, Allen one of the greatest shooters we've ever seen(especially 3's). I think Miami in that year matches up very well with 96' Bulls.
@bigbuffguy9589
@bigbuffguy9589 5 жыл бұрын
Eh, I think that's a little disingenuous. They both had help. Who had more isn't really that important to me. What does matter is that Jordan is the greatest of all time and the '96 Bulls are also the greatest of all time *in large part due to Jordan*. The other primary reason the '96 Bulls are the best is that they could basically lock down your top four scoring options because they were such a devastating defensive team. Only a dominant center could really do major damage, and even there, Rodman was actually capable of defending Shaq, and they had lots of fouls to give up with their lesser frontcourt guys. I don't think any team in NBA history really matches up that well with them.

Michael didn't make Scottie into the player he became NOBODY can make you into anything. You can say MJ molded him but he didn't make him, if he could MAKE him he could MADE a BUNCH of other people. Scottie had the desire and worth ethic and talent to be great, MJ just guided him and helped him mature and develop faster. But NOBODY MAKES anybody, but they do influence you.

Let me address two arguments here, one the 1-9 argument before Pippen arrived and the 55 win argument after MJ retired the first time. Now when Pippen was drafted to the Bulls, he wasn't a superstar out the gate, he had to be developed and Jordan played a big part in his development. The 1988 playoffs where the Bulls got to the second round, Pippen averaged 10 point's whereas Jordan averaged 45 and it took 5 games the beat a very good Cavs squad. The following year Pippen improved averaging 15 but Jordan averaged 39 and it still took 5 games to beat the Cavs. Pippen didn't become an all star until 1990 and not to mention how many times Michael had to deal with him shrinking in the playoffs against the PIstons. Pippen become a great player but it was due in part to the role MJ played in his development. Now on to the "55 win" argument, yes while the Bulls won 2 games less and were able to stay afloat in Mike's absence, they were also a championship squad with a veteran coaching staff and remained mostly intact.They were able to battle the Knicks to 7 games but Mike's absence was felt in that game 7 as the Bulls struggled to keep pace with the Knicks. The following year however, the Bulls were barely able to keep their head above water being 34-31 before MJ made his late season return. The Cavs without LeBron were broken up immediately AFTER "The Decision" (which btw ppl don't know just how much damage that caused the franchise) the coaching staff was replaced, players left and it was half a new squad and is more comparable to the Bulls team after the 98 title than the one after MJ's first retirement.

ChiGuy251 Good effort, but there is no point really. These people don't go by facts, tape, logic, or reason. They just love LeBron and will diminish all other greatness until he's the goat. In the end, MJ will probably be regarded as an overrated scrub by these zombies. I've tried typing out long posts like yours with facts and experience of a watching them both play, but it doesn't matter. When they have people like Nick Wright and Shay Sharpe on television breathing hate, this is the result. Blind witnesses.

How do ppl say the bulls would beat the warriors but lebron had more supporting cast? Just doesnt make any sense. The bulls were the better franchise better front office better defense better chemistry and overall more well rounded. Lebron for sure had more all stars but the bulls just were better and not only because mj was that much better than lebron is. The math is easy. The Bulls would beat the Warriors because they had the best player that has ever played the post,. far better than everyone else. Lebron has had better super teams that he has built himself, and he has not been dominating. Instead, he is the greatest loser of all times. MJ was FAR better than Lebron than you think. He was better than Kareem, than Magic Johnson, than Larry Bird, and Kobe Bryant, and Lebron is worse than all of these players as a dominating player. They defined their eras with their wins, Lebron defines his era with his losses.

Let's not forget that Jordan didn't go out and hand pick his team like LeBron did in order to win a title. Jordan made due with the guys he had his entire career. If the argument is who had the better all stars. LeBron had them because they all got together to join forces. Jordan helped Scottie as muh as Scottie helped Jordan but Jordan didn't call Scottie to join his team and then call up Rodman or a Steve Kerr who bounced around the league before making an impact with the bulls. It was good complimentary pieces that the organization put around Jordan.

@jacobdestern4288
@jacobdestern4288 4 жыл бұрын
Bob Jones First off you need to check your source or your head because Kevin love never averaged anything near 8 PPG when he went to Cleveland. He averaged 17.2 PPG and 10 RPG during his tenure with LBJ. Secondly Charles Oakley only ever played ONE season with MJ where he averaged 3 PPG and 6 RPG so thank you for destroying your own point about players not being as good as they used to be. Thirdly Steve Kerr averaged 8 PPG during his time with MJ. Which is 2 PPG less than what Allen averaged with LBJ. So wait if Allen was washed what’s Kerr? Fourth Horace grant was a great player but doesn’t even compare to the likes of Chris Bosh or Anthony Davis. He had identical stats to shaq in 2010 with the Cavs 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Not to mention of all the players YOU mentioned this is combined how many all star appearances they have MJ Teammates 10x All star LBJ Teammates 31x All star Who’d you rather take. A team of Pippen Rodman Kerr Harper Grant Paxston Kukoc OR Anthony Davis Kyrie Irving Kevin Love Dwayne Wade Chris Bosh Ray Allen (10 PPG) You’re an idiot. Next time you try to argue something come with facts and not made up BS. Dismantling your idiotic make belief argument was easy. Not saying Lebron wasn’t great. But to say he had less help is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard. Stop watching basketball and please for the love of god. Stop riding Lebron.
