It's so rare to find a player that is respected by fans of every single club he played for. A proper pro and a real quality player.

To win the European golden boot playing for Sunderland man. Exceptional. What a guy.
@Blackit875 ай бұрын
Sunderland fan through and through and the buzz through the club with him and Quinn up front was unbelievable. Proper deadly duo. Not even the best teams could deal with them. They would of been bottom of most peoples list as a deadly strike partnership but my word they were something else. That's when the stadium was rocking.

I'm a Newcastle fan and when him and quinn were up front they were a great partnership, we both had good sides so the derbys were great coz if we beat them it felt better that we beat a good side, they were having a good season and they messed up by not building on the team, and it caught up with them with fatigue and injuries if they had of got a couple of players who knows what they might of achieved

That Phillips and Quinn partnership from 1999/2000 was very underrated in my opinion Jeffers was not on a free lol he cost us £10 million and scored 4 goals in 3 seasons he was crap 💩 at Arsenal his goal vs Chelsea at the stadium of light in a 4.1 win was my favourite goal Kevin scored that season the volley im an Arsenal fan we demolished them at Highbury 4.1 Henry and Suker scored 2 each Suker’s first goal was unbelievable the lob ❤

There was 3 forwards throughout the 90s that was a step ahead of everybody else. In the early 90s David Hirst, in the mid 90s Matthew Letissier, in the late 90s Kevin Phillips. They were the best forwards in the country at the time. All seemed to be ruled out… Kevin winning the golden boot, it doesn’t matter what club you play for… Sunderland was playing all the same league teams as Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea Liverpool. So club and league positions shouldn’t really matter… Matthew having like three top goals of the season. Crazy… And David getting approached by Alex Ferguson, and made a record bid for him. And Alex had good reason for that. Nobody had ever offered that much for a player before. See even Alex thought he was the best forward at the time. Even though Graham Taylor didn’t. But he was hot on fire. Ruled by journalism, I think a bit of it is Manager’s do get pressure from the media on who to pick. Because if it goes wrong… Also TV pundits always give their opinion . And it was always Alan Shearer, Teddy, Sheringham, and Michael Owen.
