Would love to listen to a Michael Chopra podcast. Had an up & down career on & off the pitch. Try & get him on!!

What I like about these podcasts is when they describe where they’ve been and the clubs they’ve played for. They always have a laugh at their clubs and its boss listening about their careers.
@georgedobson1804 жыл бұрын
interesting to watch he keeps it 100% real and doesn’t sugar coat it. Can see why people don’t like his arrogance, but agree with a lot of points about how the modern game is not a scratch on the old days. It seems he has alopecia. Back of his head missing a bit of hair and clearly his eyebrows too. Which I can relate to, when I was younger I lost bits of my hair and most my eyebrows. Take the piss all u want but it’s difficult being in the public eye with patches of hair everywhere

I’m a Walsall season ticket holder and Gerrard certainly did a job for us. Scott Dann and Danny Fox certainly did leave him behind as well as Troy Deeney up front! Enjoyed the video.... still mixed feelings about Anthony for some reason.

Was at carlisle struggled with his weight and fitness but had a fantastic brain for organising players around him and was decent player to be fair, think he must struggle with overthinking and abit of stress the way his personality comes across along with the alopecia and weight, but he seems lyk a likable bloke to me

Another interesting one fellas. I think I reacted similarly to those in the comments before reflecting a bit. Playing devils advocate, it might be one of those instances when the interview came a bit too soon after retirement. He only finished in January. It feels like the focus is more on the negative side of the game and his experience with lower level clubs are just a bit too fresh. Perhaps with a bit more time he will reflect and acknowledge that at times biting your tongue at times, being more professional and he would have perhaps played at a higher level for longer. Clearly he had plenty of ability. It’s interesting that a lot of ex pro’s bemoan how it is today. Mollycoddled young players etc. I think those that made it in the ‘old’ days are those with strong characters. Maybe the modern day approach takes care of those players with different mentalities a bit better. I doubt I’d have lasted 5 mins in the changing rooms with some of these lads! They’d have torn me to shreds! Not strong enough. Maybe the old school approach makes you more prepared for big games, crowd abuse etc. I dunno. Sorry for the essay...

I think he's talking about Bromley rather than Boreham Wood at the start. 4G in the middle of a Housing estate, then travellers (there's a paddock with horses on the way into the ground) Love that was the turning point for him. He lost both games against us, second one he scored an O.G. at their place which won us the game.

He said you can’t help who you are, ‘it’s the way I was brought up’. It’s not true as we have the choice with our own experience to behave in a particular way. Yes, remember what your parents tell you but also think things through yourself. As others have said here perhaps the attitude of not being taken advantage of got in the way of doing the ‘right thing’ to progress in professional football. I know we should stand up for ourselves but you’ve got to assess whether the thing you’re standing up for is worth it in the bigger scheme of things i.e. generating the right reputation.
